Chapter 21: Episode 20 - Satella vs Rance

[ ~ Chapter • Start ~ ]

While Satella was a very experienced mage in the arts of magic and creation of Stone Guardians, her skills alone were heavily overshadowed by her sibling and childhood friend, Hornet, the current strongest Dark Lord whose level cap was at a staggering 320.

Despite that, her and both her allied and forces alone were still very outmatched in quantity against their much more larger enemy faction, named Kayblis Faction.

A million, against a few millions more and led by several more Dark Lords. How embarrassing and definitely something

But, right now was not a time for reminiscence. There is a man she desperately wanted to take control of and she had gained a good amount of interest to.

Rance.

"You said you wanted me to serve you?" That man spoke in quite mocking manner, and she only frowned in annoyance. "Fine, beat me up and prove that you can make me, then I'll answer the questions inside your head."

Before she could speak a word of acknowledgement, a bolt of lightning hit her square on her face, and it was coming from the girl with the same hair color as her half-sister.

"This One has not stopped talking! Tsk.... straight to the point, Satella supposes...."

Then, Rance leaped towards her, his sword being thrusted into a powerful stab. Satella hopped backwards and sent several blasts of large icicles and lightning towards him.

He split the icicles into halves and his sword absorbed the lightning, before moving his fingers up the blade of the sword and swinging it to her, redirecting her own blast of lighting which she barely blocked with mana barrier.

Then again, she did not forget about the humans who were more of an annoyance than anything else. When she noticed that the nun was engraving something into the floor, she grimaced.

She understood her intentions the moment she did see what was being engraved; those were to seal her into a very deep sleep.

Therefore, she had to focus on two things: defeating Rance, avoiding the engraving, and definitely killing the nun.

"Hey, you're distracted!" Rance yelled towards her, as his boots struck true towards her face, and with another kick, her bones were rattled before she was blasted backwards ten feet away.

She crashed down to the ground, and due to that, her Stone Guardians were completely distracted from their almost winning fight against the struggling Leazas soldiers and Helman Rebel soldiers.

Because the humans could only, but slowly chip away the stone-like skin of the Stone Guardians with their attacks, they had to use pure blunt force.

And due to the distraction alone, Rick Addison knew it was the right time to use his finishing move, By-la-way, against the hulking monster who wielded a massive axe that split apart some of his soldiers in half. Many more might have died without the swift commands of the black army's commander, Barres Provence.

Rick also knew using it just once isn't truly enough.

So he had to keep using it for an extended period of time, breaking his limits and hastily chipping through the skin of the monster.

He screamed just as the monster was hit with several slashes from his Byroad, in mere seconds he had already cut it 20 times, and his arms were already slowly becoming strained.

He almost grit his teeth in pain after the 50th cut, and the monster was already pushed back.

Yet the monster punched Rick straight on his chest with a rocky arm, making a dent on his breastplate and even rattling his ribcage. However that was enough for him.

On another side, Bridgette tossed a Shock Type R-Grenade made by Rance towards the impressively quick monster once it was completely distracted and immediately hopped backwards.

It evaded, but the grenade had already exploded in a shower of nerve-paralyzing electricity that effectively slowed it down and made seizures around it's body.

"This is our good chance! Beat the crap out of that thing!" She yelled, immediately after jumping towards the monster and throwing her fist at it's face.

"Urgh...." Satella got up from the floor, before she sighed at the sight of both Caesar and Isis becoming overwhelmed. "Can't help it...."

And no, she wasn't going to escape.

She definitely had no time to hold back anymore. Cause if Rance loses a limb or dies right here, she realized reviving him is still possible by turning him into her apostle.

Satella stomped on the floor, sending sharp, earthen spikes towards Rance and the girls around him. Acting swiftly, Rance had created a barrier in front of him to defend against the spikes, even though his barrier noticable cracks on it.

"Master, if this goes on longer.... more from our side will die!" Sill spoke with concern over the soldiers who were still fighting an almost losing battle against Satella's apostles.

It was also clear Rance had gained an expression of worry, but then....

"Shizuka, Sill. Cast White and Black Destruction beams respectively, I'm going to end this right now.... hopefully." Rance spoke, his expression shifting into a knowing smile.

Nodding their heads, the said girls began to focus their mana in front of their open palms as mana circles manifested before them.

Rance wordlessly slashed through his barrier to destroy the earthen spikes that threatened to impale him, before planting his sword to the ground to let it absorb the malice present on the surroundings.

Satella, thinking it was another sort of distraction he could give her, did not budge and charged up a Zetton in half a second before firing the high level spell towards him.

Rance caught it, and sent it back to her. It exploded afterwards, after the smoke the spell made cleared, she looked more surprised than shocked.

Then, she kept sending spells towards him, which he tossed back towards her and then vice versa.

"This guy.... This One is becoming more impressed the more This One figures out his abilities...." She admitted to herself, almost lost in her thoughts before she deflected a spell from Rance.

Satella did wonder if brute force isn't really the right thing to do, and now.....

"Satella gives up! This One is returning to her allies with her apostles!" She declared, and soon enough she blasted away the humans who had damaged her apostles, despite them yelling at her in anger.

Before another word was spoken, the three were already gone, leaving sever tens of soldiers dead, the church damaged, and both Sill and Shizuka holding both destruction beams as much as they could.

Rance picked up his sword and immediately sheathed it to prevent malice from leaking out.

Also, he had to take the destruction beams and compressed them into fist-sized orbs that floated beside him for probably a very long time.

The church was repaired, and the soldiers who died were eventually buried.

The Free City of Red had been liberated, yet at the same night when it had been liberated, Rance was gone.

What did he do?

He teleported to a very long distance by expending.... no mana at all due to Law Breaker working wonders if necessary.

Why did he do that?

Simple, to rescue certain people inside Leazas Castle.

He didn't think he'd be fighting a lot of Helmanian Soldiers and certain apostles while trying to rescue the both of them, though.

Question: Should I just call the Destruction Beams "Breaker Waves"?

Warning: Dark themes next chapter. Just letting you know.
