Chapter 2: Chapter 2
Most of the people from middle school and Highschool are here and I felt so very out of place,since I haven't seen these people in years.
I held my breathe as we walked closer to the bar with eyes on us watching so closely.
I wanted to curl up into a tight little ball and roll myself out of here.
I never thought coming here would make me feel like this.
I knew it was somewhere I wouldn't really come to,due to the things I hear and see on a weekly basis.
I walked in the middle of Alex and Lyla as Alex led us to the back row where there was a small table for 6.
We sat down and I took out my phone to keep my mind off of the people staring.
A while after,a group of people walked over to us and I wanted to hide under the table.
There were only 3 people I noticed in that group and one of them was my crush from Highschool Kason.
He always dated the popular girls and I really don't know why I ever had a crush on him back then but I really definitely don't now.
They greeted all of us but continued conversation with Alex and I just went back to my phone and pulled out my headphones and put them into my ears.
As I was about to push play on my music,I happened to look down and notice there are menus on the table and I picked one up to see if there's anything I would like to order here.
The only thing that seemed appropriate for me to choose right now was a apple pie and some iced tea with lemons.
We sat there for a few seconds until someone came to take our orders.
3 of them sat at the table with us and the others sat at the one next to us.
We ordered and as we were waiting I noticed Kason coming closer to me.
I felt sick to my stomach and my feet moved like they wanted to take me away from here.
Lyla noticed my shaking leg under the table and she put her hand on my knee to help calm me down,which helped a lot.
Kason came and pulled up a chair right next to me and I didn't know what to say.
He never used to talk to me,in fact,everytime someone would bully me about my clothes or the way my hair was dyed he would laugh along with them but then when they weren't around he would try to talk to me.
Like this one time I had just bought one of my favorite outfits with a pink shirt and a pink crop top that said "she's the one" on it,I had to deal with the schools too cheerleader picking on me for it.
She was also his newest girlfriend at the time so of course he was right there next to her laughing at me too.
The later that day I stayed in the library late to avoid anyone else doing the same thing and Kason came in there looking for me and sat next to me.
I was so angry at him for laughing but then again I realized I was stupid for ever thinking he could like me.
He smiled at me and I took my headphones out of my ears and gave him a small smile in return.
I don't like what he did back then but I'm not the kind of person to hold a grudge. Especially when I'm used to something like this being done to me for so long.
"Hey Camilla. How are you doing? Long time no see" he said.
I tried my best not to think about saying anything rude but I couldn't help but think of a lot of things I could say.
"I'm great Kason thanks for asking. How about you?" I said.
He smiled and moved his chair closer to me and I just wanted to get up and walk away.
I know he wants something from me I just don't know what it is.
He doesn't talk to me and it's annoying why he's talking to me only now out of years we've been around eachother.
"I'm doing okay. Accept there's this one problem with my teacher. He's always telling me I need to turn in my assignments when I just don't have the time to do them. With basketball practice plus my dads company it's all a lot you know? Do you know if anyone at all who could help me with that and I'll pay them for it?" He said.
I knew it.
I smiled and but mt tongue when I thought of saying something that I've always wanted to tell people like him.
"Nope. I barely know anyone but everyone I know has their own busy lives to deal with" I said with a big fake smile.
He nodded and started to play with the zipper on his jacket.
Oh god.
That's what he used to do when I first noticed him back in first grade and he was always so cute when he did it.
Ugh what am I saying right now.
Before he could say anything I had a idea.
"What exactly do you need help with though?" I asked.
He smiled and let go of the zipper.
"Well I need someone to do my homework for me and I pay them for it. I don't have the time to do that and everything else so it would help me and also benefit them as well" he said.
Figures.
I nodded and pretended to write it in my phone,but really I was texting Lyla that I need to go outside for fresh air.
I also mentioned in the message for her not to do anything until 30 seconds after we both put our phones back down to not look suspicious.
I heard her phone ring with my text and I slowly pu mine down while looking at Kason to not make it obvious.
"Okay,I will definitely see what I can do to help" I said.
He smiled and hugged me out of nowhere..
He smells so good..
And he's strong..
Wow...
No no no what am I saying!
I awkwardly pulled back and pushed my hair back into place behind my head as I looked down at my phone at the time.
10:24.
I like to be home by 11 and I'm getting tired. I know we haven't been here for very long but all of these people are making me feel so uncomfortable,plus it's late and I get tired fast.
Just as I was thinking about a excuse to get myself out of this,Lyla tapped me and stood up.
"Cam,we have to go. Dad needs our help now like now. Sorry everyone,family emergency. But we will definitely do this again sometime" she said.
I stood up and grabbed my things and as I was walking out I heard Kason say something very loudly.
"I'll text you Camilla" he said.
I rolled my eyes and ignored him as we made our way out of the door,not caring about our ordered food right now.
We made our way out of the door and people were staring more now than they were before for some reason.
As we were walking to my car I noticed a drunk man in a black jacket and torn blue jeans walking out of the bar behind us and I got angry.
The main thing going through my mind was 'he better not try anything'.
I really do not have the patience tonight for anything. Especially not someone drunk at night while I want to get home.
I unlocked my car before we got there so there wouldn't be any hesitation to get inside and hurry home.
Once we reached it we got inside and quickly locked the doors.
I saw the man coming closer and closer and I started the car as I backed up instead of going forward.
"You know we don't really have a family emergency right?" Lyla said.
I smiled and I nodded.
"Yes I know. And thank you. I don't know why he decided to come and ask me that out of all people but I'm not doing it one bit. He should know better" I said.
We talked and joked the whole way home about how tonight went and once we got home we showered,ate some grilled cheese sandwiches,did our nightly routines and went to bed.
I haven't been this tired in a very long time. But tonight was worth it in a way.
I drifted off to sleep but then woke up again shortly after to the smoke detectors going off and the smell of something burning..
