Chapter 28: Chapter 28

Chapter 28

- Well then, let's see who will emerge victorious from this battle! - I once again released my claws, and then attacked my opponents....

First of all, I released a web towards Stark, but just as I thought, he easily dodged it.

At that moment, Steve Rogers came at me with a punch.

Reacting sharply, I caught his fist and then struck back.

Steve tried to block the blow with his shield, which he managed to do, but it didn't help much. As I grabbed his shield, I threw Cap into the wall, where cracks immediately spread from the impact.

At that moment, bullets, arrows, and attacks from Tony, Natasha, and Clint started flying at me. Blocking their joint attack with my shield, I quickly braided Clint and Natasha with a web, thus taking them out of the game.

The recovered cap attacked me again and tried to take away my shield. But the forces were not equal, and without his main weapon, he was helpless against me. So in the next moment he flew away again, now from a Spartan blow to the stomach, and created another string of cracks on the wall. And then I had him swaddled in a spider's web. And no matter how strong Steve was, he couldn't break my web. Especially since I wrapped him up in a cocoon.

- Well, Tony, here we are again. - I turned to Iron Man, who was still outside the building.

- I admit I underestimated you. But don't think I'm just going to let you go! - Tony said calmly.

- All the worse for you! - I said back, and then pulled out a couple of emi-grenades and threw them in his direction.

I didn't expect that such a low-powered emi would be able to disable his tricked-out suit, I just needed it to malfunction for a second.

And my plan was successful, for immediately after the grenades exploded, his repulsors began to malfunction. Without wasting valuable time, I caught him with a web, and then yanked him toward the building.

As soon as Stark hit the concrete floor knocking out sparks, his systems recovered. But it was too late, he was already caught in my web.

The confined space suited me just fine, given my agility and speed. Which was not the case with Tony and his tin can.

Before he could even get to his feet, my palm caught his face with a steely grip, to drive him into the concrete and then tear off his armor piece by piece. A few seconds, and Tony lay before me completely defenseless.

- Well Tony, I offered to let me go without making a fuss, and you ... - I shook my head, shackling his body with a web.

 - If you kill us, Thor and Hulk will come after you. And there's nothing you can do against them. - Tony tried to threaten me.

 - Hey, you don't have to get so threatening. Why do I need your lives? All I wanted was data, and I got it. I don't know if that'll make you feel better or not, but you should know that no one will see it but me. Now goodbye girls, I've been here long enough! - I waved goodbye and left.

- Tony, who the hell was that!? He beat us like babies! - I heard Natasha's disgruntled exclamation.

- If I had known, I would have invited him to join the Avengers a long time ago. - Stark said calmly.

- The Avengers? Did he blow your brains out or something? - Steve exclaimed in surprise.

- What's the big deal? He's not our enemy, otherwise we'd be dead. We could really use a strong guy like that, especially during the alien attack on New York. - he argued.

- Tony, he stole your research. It's incredibly valuable and dangerous data. - Clint's got a little something to say about it.

- Hmm, that doesn't change anything. Data and blueprints aren't enough to bring these technologies to life. You also need to have an intellect no worse than mine, otherwise, more than fifty percent of the data are of no value. - Stark said proudly.

- Well, we'll talk about that later. Better find a way to free us, I'm not comfortable being in this position. - sighed the cape, not wanting to argue about it.

- Jarvis, release the spare suit and set us free. - Tony ordered quickly.

- As you command sir! - The voice of the AI quickly sounded, and then another wall parted and Tony's suit came out, then approached the creator and started trying to break the web.

- I'm sorry Mr. Stark, but the physical capabilities of the suit are not enough to tear this material. - said the AI, after an unsuccessful attempt.

- What? This web is that strong? - exclaimed Tony in amazement.

- According to my estimates, it is fifteen times stronger than steel, but much lighter and more malleable. - The AI quickly spoke up, shocked.

- How do we get out of here? It's dangerous to use your lasers. - Natasha said.

- Don't worry, a quick analysis of the composition shows that this material has a weakness. In a couple of hours it will start to lose its strength, and in a few hours it will turn to dust. - Jarvis gave his verdict, letting everyone know that there was no reason to panic.

- By the way, Tony, what makes you think it's a spider web? Are you hiding something from us? - Barton suddenly spoke up.

- Uh, I know a man who has similar abilities. And that person claims to have gotten them from a spider bite.

- Uh, are you talking about the girl who calls herself Spider Girl? - Natasha interjected.

- Yes, she is. But her powers are worse than the guy who attacked us. But still I have to meet the girl, in case she knows who is hiding under the mask....

- So why didn't you invite her to the Avengers, but you want this guy? - Cap's talking.

- Uh, she's not ready for that yet. This guy's very ready. You know, now I even wonder what he will do with my data, very interesting. - Tony replied, and then he switched to another topic, letting her know that he didn't want to discuss this fiasco any more....

As I left Stark Tower, I flew home in a good mood. After all, my plan had gone more or less well, and I didn't even have to use the jetpack.

Whistling a popular tune, I landed on the building where my jetpack was hidden, and I was just about to pick it up when I heard the wind whistling, and then my back was struck with such force as if a locomotive had flown into me....
