Chapter 16: Boss Thanos
Ava Starr, also known as Ghost, was cautious as she had followed Dr. Leonard Samson to meet the mysterious man who claimed to know how to stabilize her powers. She had been on the run for so long, always moving from place to place to avoid being caught or captured. The thought of having some stability in her life was like a glimmer of hope in a midst of darkness. Dr Leonard Samson sometimes talked about his boss's company and told her that when he was at the lowest of life, he was approached by Mrs Maximoff and the man that soon became his boss. During their flight to New Jersey, he would often discuss with the woman, gaining more understanding towards her.
As they landed and made their way to Thanos Inc, Ava couldn't help but be curious about the man who had apparently found her. The name of the company rang a bell as she had heard it on the news, but she had never paid much attention to it. She couldn't imagine what a construction company would want with her and her powers, but she was willing to hear the man out. Samuel smiled and said that he now understood why he was choosen to pick her up. He then guided the woman towards an elevator and wished her good luck. He touched a button that suddenly appeaead and left the elevator.
Finally, she arrived before the boss of Thanes Inc and Ava was filled with questions. Thanos began to answer them one by one, revealing that his company was just a disguise for his organization, which aimed to gather extraordinary individuals and work together to create a better future. As he emphasized the word "future," Ava couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. She wondered about Thanos' motivations and the true goal behind his company.
But when Thanos turned around to face her, Ava was taken aback by his appearance. She had never seen anything like him before. He calmly asked her if she had anything against purple people, which made Ava realize that his appearance was due to his birth and not any kind of mutation.
Thanos promised Ava that he could help her stabilize her powers and even more. He assured her that if she was satisfied, they could discuss the contract, working hours, and salary, which he said was usually generous if people were willing to work hard.
Ava hesitated for a moment, but then followed Thanos towards another elevator, slightly larger than the first. Thanos ominously chuckled as the elevator doors closed, making Ava tense up a little.
As the elevator descended, Ava couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and fear. She didn't know what to expect from this mysterious man and his organization, but she knew that she needed to take the chance. She had been on the run for too long, and the prospect of finally having some stability in her life was too good to pass up.
When the elevator doors opened, Ava was stunned by what she saw. The room was filled with advanced technology and equipment that she had never seen before. Thanos smiled at her expression and began to explain how they would help her stabilize her powers.
For the first time in a long time, Ava felt like she was on the right path. She knew that there were still many blurry and hidden "details" with Thanos and his organization, but she did not care and would be even willing to work with a villain if she could aleviate her pain a little.
