Chapter 20: Chapter 20 - Goats are good Blacksmiths

After some preparation, Izuku, and Toga boarded a train to pay a visit to Toga's equipment maker acquaintance. Izuku had transformed himself to appear much older than his age and had disguised himself with a wig.

Toga, too, used her quirk to transform into the middle-aged man she kept in her closet.

Izuku thought that since he was going to be a future hero, it wouldn't be fit for his face to be recognized by the underworld this early.

The two landed on Hakone, a land of annoying road swivels, and swerves with many red twists and turns. (A/N: If you get the reference, you get a medal :)

"Say Toga, how did you get to know someone from Hakone? I thought you live in Musutafu," Izuku asked. He was thankful Toga had some self-restraint as it would be awkward if she clung onto him as a middle-aged man.

"I roamed around Japan since the incident. It was fun but it got lonely after a while," Toga said, a self-deprecating smile appeared on her face but she quickly rid of it, "Anyway, why does Izuku want a sword?"

"Since my quirk doesn't boost my physical abilities as much, having a weapon will be far more useful than going in unarmed," Izuku explained. Although he was aware that his quirk could destroy terrains when trained to a high level, having a weapon will only be beneficial for the time being.

Izuku had also considered purchasing a few daggers for himself and Toga. Special daggers that are stronger than their current ones. It would be useful if it could pierce quirks such as Ryuku's scales.

Getting such equipment is very hard as their materials are strictly regulated. If he wanted to get one legally, it would need to be through Hero-affiliated associations, which is impossible since he was not a hero yet.

Another option was to go to I-Island, a paradise for quirk and hero-support researchers, but that was even harder, so Izuku was only left with this option.

The two walked through the crowd, taking a taxi to a relatively quiet street, and then walking into a conspicuous alleyway. Toga stopped in front of a wooden door and knocked before singing, "Goats are Blacksmiths too,"

Izuku watched as the wooden door slid open into the wall as if it was an automated convenience store door and walked in with Toga.

He was surprised to find a rather clean and polished workshop inside. The room appeared to be rather empty, with a lot of open space, but the sounds of metals being soldered filled it quite nicely.

"What brings you two here?" A purple-haired woman walked out an open door. The top of her hair was shaped like cat ears as she let the rest flow down to her waist.

"Giran told me to come here for weapons," Toga explained.

"Ah, right, that smug-looking guy…" She snorted in disdain, "Well, what do you want?"

"Do you have a sword and daggers? Anything will do as long as it's strong enough to hurt hardening quirks," Izuku said, taking over for Toga. It was mainly him who wanted to come anyway.

"You came all the way here just for a sword? We make quirk-specific items too you know," She asked, rather baffled. Most, if not all, of her customer request custom items, even complex ones, to help them make better use of their quirks.

"You can make that for him later. For now, a good sword will do,"

The purple-haired woman stopped asking and nodded. She went back from where she came and returned with a sheathed simple claymore and a couple of daggers.

She used one hand to unsheathe and lift the sword with difficulty and handed it to Izuku, "It's a bit heavy but it's made out of some guy's quirk so it should be able to match other quirks of the same level,"

Izuku took the sword off her hands and swung it around. It was indeed heavy, weighing about 10 kg, "You think this can pierce Ryuku's scales?"

"Haa?! What kinda question is that?!" She shouted, "What the fuck are you going to do? Kill the number 9 hero?"

"Well," Izuku calmly said as he sheets the sword back and replied with a masked smile, "If it comes down to it, I'd like to be prepared,"

Most of her customers are petty villains and vigilantes, and every now and then someone with ambition appears, but no one this insane had ever appeared.

"Whatever, just don't you dare bring us up when you inevitably get smashed by Ryuku," She shrugged, not caring anymore. "670k [~5k USD] and it's all yours."

Izuku unceremoniously used Toga's money and paid it with cash. As a bonus, the woman gave Izuku a guitar case to put his new weapon in, which he accepted. It was a good cover after all.

With his business being done, Izuku wanted to get gear for Toga. It wasn't anything special, just a portable unit that contains items that let Toga extract blood and store them for long periods of time.

After all, she would need it if she wanted to reduce her maniacal murder spree and calm her down.

After confirming that it'll take weeks, Izuku and Toga prepared to leave. Though, before he left, Izuku saw a blue-haired woman with dark grey goat horns protruding from her head come out of the backroom.

'So that's why the code is goat,' Izuku thought before leaving the two alone. He thought that he would pay them a visit in the future if he needed more illegal things to get.

Just as Izuku and Toga left, the goat woman said to the purple-haired woman, "Detnerat's branching out and they want us,"

"Already?"

"Mn. Things'll be changing soon…"
