Chapter 36: Chapter 35

(A/N: I changed Sharingan to Mystic Eyes)

I looked at Ais as I quickly closed the hatch to my room behind me. She and Riveria stared curiously at me when I ascended up from the hatch, but I pretended that it was perfectly normal to climb out of the floor randomly. Naaza and Miach looked at me confused, probably wondering why I had come out now that there were people in the shop.

"Do you live under the floor?" Ais asked, her face passive and unreadable.

"Yes?" I said hesitantly, certain that I couldn't lie now that they had seen me come out of the floor.

"Why?" She asked, tilting her head to the side in confusion.

"More space," I said with a shrug, before diverting the conversation away from myself, "Why are you guys here?"

It was Riveria who answered this time, "Ais wanted to find a different potion shop than our usual one," she answered in a bored voice, but at her words, my heart started to beat faster.

'Does this mean she was looking for me?' I asked myself. I knew that it was true, but I still didn't want to act on my feeling yet. Even though I was fairly confident, I wouldn't act until I was at least level 4 or 5. There was no way that I was going to be able to date her when she is 3 full levels above me, even if she likes me back.

"I was just looking for a cheaper alternative for the familia," she said with the slightest hint of a blush on her face.

I could see realization dawning on Naaza's face as she looked back and forth between me and Ais. She also probably realized that what Ais said was weird, the Loki familia would certainly have a contract with the Dian Cecht familia for a constant supply of potions. Sure, she could go looking for a cheaper option, but why come close to the slums of the city to find it. It only makes sense for her to come here if she is looking for someone in particular. Naaza looked at me and wiggled her eyebrows with a barely contained grin on her face.

"Miach, can I get an update?" I asked the god, dissipating the slightly awkward atmosphere by gaining everyone's attention.

"It hasn't been too long since your level up. Did you already encounter another dangerous situation?" Miach asked with a sigh, proud of me, but also worried about my safety.

"Don't worry," I said, putting a hand on Miach's shoulder, "It was definitely an interesting situation I found myself in, but nothing I couldn't handle. It was more odd than dangerous,"

"One of these days you are gonna give me a heart attack," Miach said as he excused us and led me to a back room.

We walked just out of sight and I raised my shirt so that he could update my status. It only took a moment, but Miach couldn't help but whistle when he looked at the status on my back. He quickly placed a piece of paper on my back, imprinting my status into it. Then he handed it to me as we walked back into the main room.

"More interesting than dangerous huh?" he asked as I looked down at the paper in my hands.

I looked at my stats appreciatively, but I froze as soon as I laid eyes on my new skill. Truthfully, I had thought that it was impossible for me to gain more skills or magic from this world, but I guess I had been wrong. Miach chuckled at my look, then whispered the meaning to me so that Ais and Riveria couldn't hear, even with their enhanced bodies.

"The skill's function is fairly simple, it gives you more stamina and faster stamina recovery so that you can fight more and keep pushing on," Miach said proudly, "It's a rare skill. I don't know if anyone else in Orario currently has it,"

Even though the skill's effect was simple, it was good. I would never say no to more stamina and stamina recovery speed. I would have preferred a skill to buff my mana and mana recovery speed, but beggars can't be choosers. Plus, I already considered myself lucky for even gaining this skill in the first place. Naaza suddenly walked over, breaking me out of my thoughts, and snatched my paper out of my hands.

"You should really just become the captain already, you've already surpassed me," Naaza said except this time she was smiling, all insecurities and doubts mostly erased after our last talk.

"You can't stop getting me to call you Cap that easily Cap, plus we already agreed that when I hit level 3 I'll take over as captain if you want me to," I said casually, patting her on the back.

Naaza looked back down at my sheet, "Wait, when did you get a new skill," She asked excitedly, before snapping her mouth shut and glancing over to Riveria and Ais who were both browsing the store.

While the two women made no indication that they had heard Naaza speak, they certainly had. Naaza gave me an awkward silent apology before heading back to the counter stiffly. I really didn't care if the Loki familia knew I had a new skill due to it not really mattering much to me. The vast majority of my powers don't come from this world, so, I didn't care that they know about a single skill I have from this world. Plus, they don't know what it is or what it does anyway.

I watched as Ais pretended to browse, throwing small glances my way every once in a while, and Riveria actually browsed. I could see the Elf's surprise mount as she actually found some good high-quality potions in the shop. She even picked up a few and brought them to the front. Miach was the one to ring her up and was free with compliments to the Elf, causing Naaza to look annoyed. Ais also purchased a potion, but it was clear that she wasn't actually interested in the potion as she bought it.

I gave Ais a small wave as she left the store along with Riveria. As soon as the door shut behind them, Miach reached over and patted me on the back, and gave me a thumbs up.

"I'm proud of you," he said with a grin.

"What happened between you two?" Naaza asked, unable to contain her curiosity.

I looked at Naaza as she excitedly waited for an answer. She was a lot different from what was depicted in the show, while still sleepy looking and sounding, she definitely could get extremely excited when around me and Miach only. She still stayed reserved in public, but she opened up quite a bit in private.

"I don't know what you are talking about," I said as I gathered a large piece of paper and a pen.

"Come on, you saw the way she was looking at you," Naaza said, trying to break past my ignorant facade.

"We have only talked a few times," I said truthfully as I used [Project Map] to create a holographic map of the 19th floor in the air in front of me.

Miach and Naaza paused to look at the map as I began to trace the holographic map onto the paper. They watched as I quickly began replicating the holographic map onto the paper, but after a moment I had an idea. I picked up my half-completed map and overlapped the physical paper and holographic map, willing the lines to be etched into the paper just as Miach did with my status. After a moment I saw a small flash and pulled back the paper to find a perfect map of the 19th floor on the paper.

"The Guild will give you a good chunk of change for that map," Miach said sagely and Naaza and I nodded.

"That's why I have begun mapping the floors past Rivira. Getting money from the guild for mapping is more efficient for me than taking commissions from the board in the Guild," I said as I wrapped up the map carefully and began to walk out of the store.

I began to quickly make my way toward the guild, wondering idly how much money I would make from selling maps to the guild. I figured that it wouldn't be an insignificant amount, but I wasn't sure what the upper limit would be. I needed a lot of money, especially when considering that I am still helping to pay off the familia's debt and needed to save up enough money to buy a Durandall attribute Orichalcum blade.

How much should the guild pay for the maps?
