Chapter 50: Impossible Fight

The trio busied themselves in fuelling the flame, even though they only had flammable woods. Well, with the farmhouse mostly built on fine woods, the fire hardly needed that tending after they set it on fire in a different direction. 

The wolves continued howling, and they could hear it more clearly now. They were reaching closer.

"Now what?" Elise asked.

"I don't know, but it can buy us some time and an edge," Luke answered.

Rin brought out the last of the root essence and put it into his mouth without a second wasting. Not only that, absorbed the few spirit-enhancing gems he collected, recovering and boosting his ability to the limit.  Thankfully, ingesting root essence didn't count the same as absorbing gems, or he wouldn't be able to absorb anymore today.
