Chapter 2: Primeval Beast

"Splash!"

The raven lake bubbled violently and a black coloured fish the size of an adult's forearm was pulled out from the black lake.

It flopped helplessly on the ground with its strong tail flipping it almost half a meter into the air.

The young man squandered no effort in grabbing the rusty metallic cauldron close to him like he had accomplished a thousand times.

"Ding!"

The cauldron slammed on the ground with a muffled bang.

The young man had covered the large fish with the cauldron!

With great familiarity, he slipped in a rusty, flat-metallic plate underneath, closing up the opening of the rusty cauldron.

With a powerful jolt, the young man grabbed the two handles at the sides of the cauldron, and with a twist, he flipped the pot with the fish locked inside, making it stand accurately upright.

With no hesitation, he immediately dashed out of the area with the speed his little strength could currently muster, not daring to remain even a single second longer.

Just as he was three steps into his sprint, the young man suddenly skidded to a halt and a look of confusion appeared on his face.

The reason for this was the sudden appearance of another Black-scale Fish. The fish had leapt up from the dark lake, and landed two meters away from the edge of the pool.

Although stunned and dazed, his actions weren't close to being startled as he moved. Despite the incredibly dangerous risk of staying here longer, his large pot slammed once more, covering the newly arrived Black-scaled fish.

Although it took time to explain, everything from the hunt till now happened under two minutes.

Just as the boy was about to overturn the cauldron, his face changed drastically.

The water gurgled and the surface of the dark-polluted lake shattered.

"Bang!"

A long, black crystalline tentacle the length of an adult's forearm unexpectedly burst from the depth of the large lake.

"Whoosh!"

An ear-piercing air shriek swept forwards violently, carrying with it an explosive gust of wind like a whip.

Before the young man could move, the wind already reached his face.

"DANG!"

The sweeping tentacle collided heavily with the cauldron that had abruptly appeared in its path.

The recoil from the collision sent the young man staggering backward intensely.

Borrowing the force of the recoil, the youth sped even faster, his breathing hurried and his eyes nervous but even amidst danger, his expression was calm.

Calculating for a bit, he abruptly ducked.

"Whoosh!"

Within that moment, in the nick of time, an heavy, violent wind, carrying along with it an intense fishy and decayed smell swept above his head like a wind blade, cutting off a few of his hair.

Using the moment, he focused all his strength on his muscles and rolled forwards whole hugging the pot.

"Paa!"

"Bang!"

A different tentacle a lot bigger appeared like an apparition, piercing heavily into the spot where he was previously, digging a 15-centimeter hole within.

The young man quickly twisted his body, using his arm and his sides to slam against the ruined wall before him.

"Bang!"

"Huff! Huff! Huff!"

Heavy sounds like dogs panting aloud echoed within Floating Lake Water Of the Nine Wonders Of The Earth.

The two tentacles slowly wave around the air, dark liquid filled to the brim with polluted substances dripped out of the sharp rows of openings in their mouth.

Staring back at the floating tentacles, the young man glared firmly at the tentacles an inch away from his face.

This was the limit the C-cell Primeval being's tentacles could stretch to

Despite his narrow escape, the young man's expression was cold. He didn't reveal a trace of joy nor the slightest bit of relief.

"It actually baited me." His voice was solemn and the caution on his face deepened. A never before seen seriousness that shouldn't have appeared on the face of a 14-year-old young man could be seen on his face.

This wasn't his first time here and he was familiar with the step to a successful hunt.

Usually, it would take about 80 seconds for the Primeval hidden at the depth of the Dark-lake to surface at the slightest smell of human blood.

The same happened today. The only difference was that the Primeval C-cell beast used bait to delay him.

Assuming he had just been a second too slow, he might have died at this point.

"Its actions are already unpredictable. I shouldn't hunt here in the future."

Although this place was one of the most dangerous places. If calculated well, one could fish for the Black-scale fishes which are considered the weakest amongst Savage C-cells genes.

Looking at the floating tentacles waving around while retreating into the depth of the lake, the young man narrowed his eyes.

Staring for a few seconds, he picked up the now cracked-up, rusted pot and left the area. He didn't feel safe staying here any longer.

Three kilometers adjacent to the Floating Waters Wonder, an underground cave seemingly hand-built releases some occasional banging sounds.

The shadow of a dark-skinned young man holding an old machete flickered along with the flickering flame at the center of the cave.

The occasional banging sound came from within the rusted cauldron. The Black-scaled fish still hadn't given up yet. Their every struggle causes a light vibration and reverberations through the metallic pot.

With the firewood lit, the young man carefully took out a dirty bottle. Cautious about not spilling even a single drop, he placed the drop of the bone-softening, herbal-green liquid within the pot.

The movement within the pot increased dramatically.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Placing the pot above the firewood, its three legs giving it some space beneath, the two Black-scaled fishes inside began to boil.

Coverings his hands with tattered gloves, he gripped the shaking pot with all of his might, Lucifer managed to keep it steady.

A growling sound echoed from within the youth. He gulped down a mouthful of saliva at the smell wafting into his nose. The young man couldn't help but anticipate how stronger he would grow after consuming the flesh of the two Black-scale fishes.
