Chapter 20: DON'T TEST ME, WIFEY

CHAPTER 20… DON'T TEST ME, WIFEY

She did not expect that Timothy would get over her so quickly. She had come here with a motive but that woman did not let her achieve her desire. How could she let her go so easily?

Raina gritted her teeth. She reached for her bag and turned to face Selena.

"This, this is not over yet. You will hear from me" she said and stormed out of the room.

Once she was out of the room, Timothy sighed in relief. He spun Selena to face h and checked her body for any possible injuries. This made Selena chuckle and she asked him why everyone in the house did not like Raina.

Timothy smiled and promised to tell her after dinner. He turned to Rick and they greeted before heading to the table where Bella was seated and staring at nothing. She had not even touched her food.

Selena wanted to go to her but Timothy shook his head. He helped Selena into her seat and sat down beside Bella, instead of his seat at the head of the table.

"She's gone now. You are safe," Timothy whispered to Bella and she blinked. She turned to look at Selena before turning back to face Timothy. Both of them smiled at her reassuringly. Only then did she begin to eat.

"Goodnight, my darling," Selena kissed Bella's head and stood up to leave the room. She had just tucked her into bed and wanted to return to her own room.

"Miss Scott, can I call you mommy?" Bella asked softly before Selena could stand up.

Selena was solidified for a moment by Bella's request. She did not know how to respond. When she recalled that the child was watching her, she smiled and nodded.

"Yes baby, I would love that." She replied and that brought a smile to Bella's face.

"Thank you, mommy. Good night." She said to Selena and closed her eyes.

Selena smiled. Her heart fluttered, she felt inexplicably happy, hearing Bella call her mommy. She left the room smiling.

When she walked into the room, Timothy raised a brow. He watched her grabbed her towel and entered the bathroom with a smile on her face. He was curious what made her happy but he did not ask her. He would wait till she returned.

Selena took quite a while in the bathroom. She decided to wash her hair and soak for a while. When she came out of the bathroom, Timothy was already getting worried.

"What took you so long, wifey?" Timothy stood up and walked to where she stood. Selena walked to the dressing table, clad in only her bathrobe. She opened the drawer to pull out her hair dryer.

"Had a hair wash," she responded.

Timothy nodded and took a towel before returning to the table where she was.

"Sit down, wifey. I will dry your hair"

Selena did not object. She sat down quickly on the stool and waited for him to begin.

The last time someone had helped her dry her hair, it had been her mother. Then, she was only six, she could remember clearly. That noon, she had gone to the park with some other kids and they had gotten drenched in the rain. When she returned home in the evening, her mother scolded her and helped her bathe in warm water before drying her hair for her.

"I will tell you about Raina," she heard him mutter sadly and she sat up straight, looking in the mirror, where she could see him. "Raina was my ex-wife."

Selena felt him place the towel over her hair over the sides of her head and he began to wipe her hair gently, massaging her scalp in the process.

She had expected him to be rough on her scalp as he may have never dried a female's hair before. But, seeing the way he was handling her right now, he must have dried his daughter's hair a few times.

"Why did you two split up?" She asked and closed her eyes to enjoy his gentle touch on her hair. It made her want to sleep.

Timothy looked at the mirror and chuckled softly when he saw her eyes closed. He said, "Raina and I, we were not compatible. In the eyes of the outside world, we were one of Ontario's most loving couple. Behind close doors, we were a totally different thing.

"Raina, she was my first love. We had met in high school and dated all through. She used to be that girl whose smile would always brighten up my day. She was loving, kind-hearted, and sweet. Well,-" Timothy shrugged and continued to wipe Selena's hair. "- that was until we got married. Once we got married, Raina changed. She started to keep late nights and the one day, I return to find that she had left Canada. According to her, she had a job but she was already carrying me child.

"She returned a few weeks to her due date. Though, we were quite distance from each other, I had to stand by her for the sake of our daughter. Raina became a devil's incarnate. She terrorized the lives of everyone in this house. It is one of the reasons no one likes her. Infact, they are terrified by her voice alone.

"When she gave birth to Bella, she apologized for leaving and begged to stay. For the sake of Bella, I let her stay but I quickly regretted my choice."

"Why?" Selena was truly curious.

"Bella was barely one week when Raina tried to kill her with a duct tape. She sealed the child's mouth with duct tape. When Mrs. Johnson found out and asked her why, she had responded that she could not bear to listen to the child's cries." Timothy said with a sigh.

He finished cleaning Selena's hair and gathered them on her left shoulder before going to dry the towel.

Selena sat down before the mirror, speechless and stunned. She did not understand why any mother would want to kill her own child.

Who gags a week old baby?

The woman must be really heartless to do such a thing. It was no wonder that no one in the house wanted her around. It also explained the fear that in Mrs. Johnson's voice, as well as the dread in Bella's eyes.

Timothy came out of the closet and went to stand by the bed. He called out to Selena who was lost in thought.

"Come to bed, wifey," he said to her. "It's getting late."

"Okay. Just give me a minute, I will put on something descent." Selena said and stood up from the stool.

Timothy returned to her side and wrapped his arms around her waist. He leaned over her shoulder and kissed her nape.

"You are dressed descent enough." He whispered into her ear.

Selena swallowed hard and took a deep breath. She lightly pushed Timothy off her and wanted to run away but Timothy grabbed her waist once more and pulled her closer to him.

"You look just fine to me, wifey." Timothy whispered softly in her ear and kissed her neck. "You should listen to me more. Or else…"

"Or else…" Selena's voice was locked in her throat.

Timothy chuckled.

"Or else, I might end up taking this robe off you,"

"You wouldn't do that," Selena teased. It was a lie. She knew that he could do it. Somewhere in him, Selena knew a shameless man was hiding.

"Don't test me, wifey," Timothy warned and nibbled on her neck before licking it. "I will do whatever I say I will do."

"Try it," Selena dared him. Her voice was low and desperate.

Timothy wrapped one of his arms around her waist possessively. The other one, he let it trail down, from her lips down to the v-opening of her bathrobe. He smiled satisfactorily when he felt her breath hitch.

"You do not want to tempt me, Selena. I tell you, it's not easy to take a raging beast once it is awakened." Timothy warned.

He let go off her waist and held her wrist. Her whole face had turned red from his teasing and be loved that.

Selena let him pull her into the bed without a word. He tucked her in before lying down beside her and turning off the light.

"There will be a family reunion next weekend," Timothy said after a while of silence. He knew Selena was still awake and could hear him.

"Reunion?" Selena echoed and heard Timothy hum. "What for?"

"It is a usual reunion, takes place every year." Timothy explained. "Even though you have to be present there as my wife, I would be introducing you to the rest of the family."

Rest of the family, huh?

"Okay." Selena replied. "Is there anything I need to know about 'the rest of the family'?" She asked.

"Nothing, really. Just that they would try to get on your nerves." Timothy revealed.

"What should I do? Ignore them?" Selena asked.

Timothy chuckled softly and said, "No, wifey. I actually want to see the fiesty side of you more often."

Selena chuckled and said, "Don't worry, hubby, you'll see it more often." She promised.

"As far as I am not the cause of it,"
