Chapter 14: For Good
Liling's eyes fluttered awake to meet the large amber eyes enthusiastically awaiting her. She sat up immediately remembering the situation the night before, and turned to face him worriedly,
"Little bun, are you okay now?", she asked reaching over to smooth his messy bed hair down,
He gave a nod and smile, got down from his bed and pulled Liling off as well. He got his tablet with the word 'Breakfast' written down on it, so she immediately understood the task at hand,
"Well then, let's go",
Li Hao who had equally just gotten up, was standing in the hallway when they both emerged, she gave him her usual indifferent greeting, and turned her attention back to Li Qiang, so he stood there, completely ignored, watching as they made their way down,
Was he really that forgettable in her eyes?
Their meal this time was thankfully normal, no unnecessary competition and although some glares were exchanged between the two parties, it remained civilized,
Little bun and Liling reluctantly parted ways with each other, he had lessons to sit through, and she had a job to get to,
She took a shower, paired a V-neck white blouse with high waisted black pants and a pair of white heels, pulled her hair into a simple ponytail letting tendrils fall to frame her face, and applied lip gloss to complete her look.
By the time she got down, Li Hao was sitting on a couch, waiting patiently in his two piece black suit and tie,
Ordinarily she would have refused to go to work together with him, but she didn't exactly have a choice, her car would be delivered to her in the afternoon at work, and walking was way out of the question, so they hopped into the backseat of the car, resuming their positions from the day before, and got down once they arrived at their destination,
She thanked him and walked off to her office where work and a panicky Shen Ru awaited her,
Once she walked into her office, the first thing she saw was Shen Ru pacing around the office, for once she was earlier than her,
"Liling, thank stars your okay, I was so worried", her voice was one of relief and she enveloped Liling in a hug,
"About what?", she asked,
"Jerk Zhang was pissed off yesterday, you haven't completed the task and haven't even given him a report, he threw a fit last night saying the contributors are on his back and then went out, I was worried he would go over to your house and do something, but I guess I was just being paranoid", she released Liling from the hug, an action Liling was very grateful for,
"Relax, I'm completely fine, I'll go later this evening, but for now we need to focus on the work at hand", she gestured to the stack of paper on her desk, it had been reduced to half its original size, and would soon completely be gone, they just still had to plan out the details for their technology industry's launch, finalize a few thing for an upcoming fashion show, organize a meeting for companies hoping to partner with the Li Corporation's construction sector to provide raw materials,
Those were only a few of the things they needed to do, so for the rest of the day they worked diligently reducing a substantial portion of their work,
It was soon five, and Liling packed up bidding goodbye to Shen Ru, went down to the underground car park where she located her black Audi A5, and made her way to the the night club,
Earlier in the morning on the way to work, Li Hao had given her a cheque, it was more than enough payment of everything she owed him, she would finally be free of him, and he could no longer control her life, a smile had threatened to spill at the corner of her lips then, her life was finally going to be hers again,
The club had only started filling up, and was still sparsely populated as she got in, manoeuvring her way effortlessly to the back, she made her way to the Assassin's lounge and to Zhang Wei's office,
His secretary was positioned there and expressed her surprise at Liling's arrival, Liling obviously knew Zhan Wei wouldn't be in yet, so why was she here now?,
"I just have something I need to drop off, can I go in?", she spared no politeness with unnecessary greetings, and went straight to the point, she desired to leave there as soon as possible, there was no need to drag it out,
"Go in?, but Mr Zhang isn't around yet, I can't just let you …"
"He's expecting something before he comes in", she cut her off mid sentence, this was a very blatant lie, but if she didn't play dirty, she wouldn't leave early, and spending time here was the last thing she wanted to do,
"I can contact him if it's proof you need ", she spoke again, brought out her phone as she pretended to search for his number,
"N-No need for that", she stopped Liling suddenly looking very flustered, she knew how much he hated being disturbed when he was sleeping, she would most definitely face his wrath,
"Um, I-I guess you can go in", he wouldn't mind right, he trusted Liling and she was one of the closest people to him, so it was most likely going to be okay, she comforted herself with those facts and relaxed significantly,
She let Liling through and closed the door, Liling then proceeded to drop the cheque-a sum of five billion yuan-on his table, it would most definitely be the first thing he saw once he walked in that way, so she took a picture of it with a paper weight, and his name plate accompanying it in the background,
Proof
Once she was done, she walked out of the room, out of the nightclub, and out of their world for good.
