Chapter 6: The Mad Doctors Plan

My mom must be worried, she must be crying her eyes out right now, screaming in horror.

She must believed I was kidnapped and that it's her fault she couldn't protect me, but that's not true at all, this is my fault wholeheartedly.

I escaped on my own volition, and got myself kidnapped for the sake of Olivia.

Heh.

I didn't feel bad though, nor did I regret it at all, I wanted to save her, and I knew the danger I'll be putting myself in just to do it. I was a wild one, wasn't I?

Despite being reincarnated into this new world, I may die at an early age, rather dying at 25.

Sometimes I wondered if god really hated me, and if this was just some prank she set up just to laugh at.

Sitting in this cold, and stone-walled room, there was nothing to take note of except the chair in the middle of it, and the hanging lightbulb on the ceiling, giving me the feeling of no hope.

There was truly no way to escape.

Zusshi, if you hear me, please save your follower... please free me from this hellhole, but most importantly... save Olivia.

*Creak*

The door opened up again, and after waiting for thirty minutes, the same man walked back into the room.

["Alright kid, get your ass up, we'll be doing a little test on you as well, so comply like I said before. My names Tio, remember it well, and follow the orders I give you."]

There was no point in arguing, or getting upset, I simply stood up and nodded my head.

["...Alright..."]

Tio directed me out the room with a nod of his head, so I listened, and walked out.

Once I left the cold room I was in some narrow hallway which was pretty dark, leading to a metal door at the end of it, having flashing lights illuminating from underneath its crevice.

It felt like some horror movie, and my heart couldn't stop pounding at a rapid pace.

I slowly took my time walking there, but as I did, I noticed other doors next to me that looked like prison-doors you would lock murderers inside.

Now that I mentioned it, they were the same doors that I was locked behind, therefore... their must be other kids stuck behind those doors, in cold, and dark rooms, unable to escape.

Just the thought of it sickened me, but I bit my tongue before I said anything.

["Walk a little faster, will yah?"]

Tio pushed me forward to which I tripped, falling flat on my face since my hands were still tied up, except my ankles.

They cut the ropes around my ankles a while ago.

["Nnn."] I grunted, trying to get up from the ground that my chin was sitting on.

["Make a move already! If you keep wasting my time, I'll blast you through the fucking back!"]

I struggled to get up without the use of my hands, but still managed in the end.

Taking deep breaths, I walked forward and was now standing a few meters in front of the metal-door, waiting for Tio to open it.

The demon made his way to the door, taking the keys from his pocket, and unlocking the large door, proceeding to push it open.

The flashing lights I saw under it a moment ago would blind me once it was pushed open, and I had no choice but to squint my eyes—

["What is that light-?"]

My eyes were adjusting to it slowly... and eventually I could make out a large glass-cylinder standing in the middle of the room with a glowing liquid inside of it. Inside were also beds that had restraints on them, desks with scalpel tools and other dangerous objects, even a doctor standing in front of the glass-cylinder, holding a journal in his hand.

I didn't know what to say except grit my teeth, praying to Zusshi to help me.

["Welcome Tio, is this our new test subject?"] Asked the doctor.

["Yeah doc, this is him. Out of all the other kids we captured, this one seems to be the most promising."]

Wait, most promising? What were they talking about?

["Hmhmhm! Excellent, that's what we needed, thank you Tio, I will take it from here."]

Tio nodded his head and walked out the room, locking the metal-door behind him.

["What's going on here? What do you mean I'm the most promising?"]

The doctor adjusted his glasses with a creepy smirk forming on his face.

["Tell me child, have you heard of the Sorcerer Discipline Program in Atlantis City?"]

["Yeah, I have... but I don't know enough about it really."]

The doctor turned around and faced the glass-cylinder.

["235."] The doctor muttered.

["235?"] I asked.

["Yes, that's how many kids we tested on, and they all died."]

My face quickly became dreaded in fear.

["You killed that many kids? What the hell is wrong with you, what are you accomplishing by doing that?!"]

["Silence, boy, I am not done talking."]

He placed his wrinkled hand against the glass-cylinder, smiling mischievously.

["I'm sure you understand how magic in this world works; To awaken magic, you must link with your soul by clearing your mind from all thoughts, and only focus on your subjective worldview."]

I already understood this. A worldview is a collection of attitudes, values, stories and expectations about the world around us, which inform our every thought and action.

You obtain different magic types depending on your worldview; for example, if your view on the world was sad, depressing, and cold-hearted, then your magic would be ice. If your view on the world was ruthless, angry, and annoying, it'll be fire. If your view on the world was neutral, unbiased, and impartial, it'll be earth. If your view on the world was calm, peaceful, and relaxing, it'll be water. If your view on the world was loving, caring, and affectionate, it'll be air.

When you feel a certain way, your view on the world changes, that's why these elements exist, and why they're important. I started to understand it a bit more, that's why I learned how to use water magic as well, in my sparring with Olivia.

Sadness: Ice

Anger: Fire

Neutral: Earth

Calm: Water

Loving: Air

All you have to do is change your emotion in battle to obtain a different element of magic, but it's not as easy as it sounds.

["I already know how magic works."] I responded to the doctor.

["I see, then explaining it to you will be easier. Where should I begin? Ah, yes... the sorcerer discipline program."]

The doctor turned back around to face me with a smile.

["The Sorcerer Discipline Program is a special, and large-scale education in Atlantis City, designed to unlock a student's potential in gaining Skills. All those who have gone through the program are called Sorcerers, regardless of their level which is decided by their potential, and skill. But there's also something known as levels."]

I risen my eyebrow, responding, ["Levels?"]

["Yes child, levels. There's 8 levels; Level 0 for those who have little to no potential at all, Level 1 for those who have minor potential, Level 2 for those who show below-average potential, Level 3 for those who show average potential, Level 4 for those who show above-average potential, Level 5 for those who have powerful skills, and above-average potential."]

["What about the other remaining three? 6, 7, and 8?"]

The doctor scoffed at me.

["Those levels are only obtainable by the nobles in Atlantis city. There's a difference between noble blood and commoner blood, since nobles were born from royalty, they have more potential than commoners that were born as any other human."]

The doctor adjusted his glasses.

["Level 0-5 is the highest that any commoner could go, however levels 6-8 is only viable for the nobles, and there hasn't been any instance where a commoner has acquired any levels above 0-5. It's virtually impossible to reach those levels if you were born in dirt and filth, with no royalty in your bones!"]

["Okay, I get it... but I don't understand what this has to do with my question! What did you mean about me being the most promising?"]

The doctor chuckled mischievously.

["Hmhmhm, your magic... it has more potential than even a noble."]

["Huh?"]

["Yes, when you were taken in by Tio, we used a device to scan your magical power, and to our surprise... your potential was greater than any noble child we came across. This is a one in a million phenomenon!"]

["My potential... greater than even a noble? That's bullshit, I'm a commoner!"]

["Oh my, such foul words at a young age, you speak like an adult."]

You'll be surprised, doc.

["What the hell are you planning to do with my potential you bastard? You already harmed Olivia, you think I'll make it easy for you?"]

["Hmhmhm! I'll use your potential and magic to create my own system! My own system that can rival Atlantis City, and it'll be done by you!"]

["Your own system? You're trying to rival Atlantis city? I won't let you do this! I'm not gonna be the reason that humanity loses against your kind!"]

["OH BUT YOU WILL BOY, YOU WILL! KEHAHAHAHA]
