Chapter 24: Chapter 24 Bad news

How long have I been unconscious? My head is still throbbing, the pain is still raw. Lying on a soft and smooth mattress, a thick blanket covered my body. I no longer feel numbness all over my body. I could move parts of my body a little, but there was something strange.

"You have got up?!" Queen Catherine. The woman stood beside the bed, her wand with both sharp ends and in the middle a purple gem shining brightly. The purple gem dimmed, not emitting the light it had before.

The woman healed me, but her cynical expression did not disappear and she seemed to harbor hatred for me. I can't say thank you, she doesn't care about me, just because of the relationship between Father and her in the past.

"Father and son are the same, traits that make me feel disgusted."

"Father is not the arrogant type." I burst into anger, not accepting that my father was insulted by that woman. Father was not an arrogant person, he was a good person who helped the people of Hill Valley. Queen Catherine is nothing, just a title without the attitude of a leader who protects her people.

My insults made her sneer, looking at me with hatred. I don't want to see what Father's past is like, it's enough for Father to hide his identity, to hide the truth of the Titanos Noble Clan. I no longer want to know what bitter relationship existed between the two of them. Father already has a mother, Gisella and I must be his priority, there's no need to bring up the past anymore.

My body was still weak, but withstanding the attack, I ended up falling and becoming unconscious. I don't want to appear weak in front of someone who is in my father's past, someone who might harbor hatred towards my father. My blue eyes looked firmly into the woman's green eyes.

The worst nightmare I ever had. The green eyes of the queen who wanted to kill me, it was as if the dream had come true again. The magic spirit aura was so strong, that pressure and shock waves were generated from the aura that enveloped his body. The shock wave made me step back, almost hitting the table. But it was blocked by the table.

Queen Catherine was very fast, even my eyes couldn't catch her very fast movements. The woman's slender hand gripped my wrist, and the power of her magic spirit almost doubled.

"I risked everything to save Andalus from the bastard Horaces. It's best to shut your mouth and save your energy, you'll find out the shocking news later when you return to your little house," she hissed, glaring.

A threat? I don't understand what Queen Catherine is saying. What shocking news? Could it have something to do with Father's anger?

The bedroom door burst open. "Get away from my son, Cathy!" Father's voice sounded cold and filled with anger.

"Oh, you still remember my nickname?!"

I held my reddened wrist. This woman was very strong, even her small and elegant palms were able to make me move. But he boldly smiled mockingly.

Of course, his magic spirit power is at the top level, not comparable to me who is just a sixteen-year-old teenage boy.

Father took me back home to the Hill Valley, in an old train. Father and I's arrival at Calista ended in chaos. Throughout the journey, Father was mostly silent, only one word 'sorry' probably made him sad, because his hand almost hurt me.

When I returned home, I greeted Mother, Gisella, Hellen, and Lyra who happened to stop by my house. Explaining again what happened at Calista, I was the one who almost got hurt at Father's hands. My mother gave an unexpected reaction, the anger of a mother hearing that her beloved son was injured. Father was the quiet type, Mother became increasingly angry, scolding Father without the slightest pause for him to explain what happened.

Two days have passed since Father and I went to Calista. My days went on as before, doing daily activities. In the morning, I woke up and got ready to go to academics with Helen and Lyra coming halfway. As usual, we always go to school together and come home together.

"Your face is bruised. I didn't expect it to turn out like this."

Helen must have told Lyra about this incident, the braided-haired girl's face looked very worried. But what worried her most was, that something was happening in academics. The teachers who had very strange looks on their faces, gathered us all in the field. There is something very important, something that will change everything.

There are important matters that require us to return home after directions from Professor Lupine and the Head of Academics. We returned home for now and waited for directions from the mayor to gather in the town square.

Various kinds of questions and noise are everywhere. On the way home, I saw several shops and stalls suddenly closed, the market which was always busy, was now quiet. Something went wrong. The residents of Hill Valey spent time in their homes, there was no activity after the sound of sirens echoed throughout the Hill Valey district.

Lyra decided to go home immediately, looking for her mother who was still hunting in the Ankila Forest. I didn't want anything to happen to Lyra, especially this confusing situation, but the girl still insisted on going home alone without asking me to accompany her.

Like it or not, I let the girl with braided hair take another route towards the North Valley, while Helen and I headed towards the South Valley. At home, as usual, Mother had a patient injured by a coyote bite. Gisella has returned home, at school it is the same as in academics, telling her students to return to their respective homes. I wondered what happened. Mother didn't give much of an answer, seeing Mother was having a lot of trouble and Gisella was helping, I didn't want to disturb them.

Only Father can answer all my confusion. But I couldn't see the big man's nose, searching every corner of the house. I couldn't find Father's whereabouts.

"Father is at the mayor's house," said Mother.

The woman was busy applying oil to the wound of the male patient who was groaning in pain. I saw her behind the room door. Gisella came in and out carrying a basin filled with water and several other medical equipment.

The sun is now in the middle because the Hill Valley district is around the valley. The sun can be seen from here, but it doesn't reduce the cool air. There are no lessons today, the Head of Academics and teachers have the students off for half a day. But it doesn't help me to find the answer.

Helen, Lyra, and I returned to the Magical Academy, to meet Professor Lupine who was still in the teacher's room. Important talks by several academic teachers and Heads of Academics. The important conversation ended very quickly, the teachers left the room, along with Klaus who looked at the three of us in front of the door.

There is something strange. Klaus' sharp gaze directed at Helen? Helen is not a resident of Andalus, but a resident of Horaces, she ran away from home and lived with my family. But why was Klaus' face so angry? Helen looked offended and her head hung down.

"The Head of Academics is still the same arrogant guy, he can't accept Helen. How annoying!" Lyra let out her annoyance, no matter whether the person was young or old.

"Why aren't you guys at home?" Professor Lupine asked us, his face looking very serious. Seeing us return to academics, while other friends are still at home.

"I just wanted to ask, Professor. What happened?"

Professor Lupine glanced at the watch on his wrist, breathing quite heavily. "There's an important broadcast that will be broadcast in the square. You'd better hurry there, maybe the preparations are finished."

'Preparation?' I don't understand at all.

The town square looked very busy today, all the residents of Hill Valley gathered in the square. The strangest thing was, that there were several large four-wheeled vehicles lined up on the edge of the field, fully armed Mage soldiers, the mayor was on the podium. There were two large screens installed in the square, the flags of the Andalus Kingdom and a flag that was very familiar to my eyes, the flag of the Horaces Kingdom.

Those of us from the Magis Academy were led towards a line of students who were already in the middle of the field, Gisella and her school friends were in another line, while the line on the side contained ordinary citizens.

My head went around in another direction, seeing the faces of the people who looked confused, in contrast to the mayor, Vincent, the Head of Academics, and Professor Lupin, they looked very tense. In the row of civilians, Father's face looked flat, but there was a look of anger that couldn't be hidden. As his son, I knew better that something was wrong. It may have something to do with what happened in Calista.

The screen in front lights up, showing the emblem of the Kingdom of Andalus and the national anthem being played throughout the square. After that, the coat of arms of the Horaces Kingdom appeared and was accompanied by the national anthem of the kingdoms, that were once hostile to each other. It still makes an impression, seeing the tense and hateful faces of the residents of the Hill Valley district.

Hearing the Horace's national anthem playing in the Hill Valley district, the voices echoed, not to be outdone by the Horace's national anthem being played in the square. Swearing. Hatred and revenge will not disappear, even as time goes by. Not only them, but my friend, Lyra. The girl's small back shook violently, the anger that had to be suppressed, reminded her of the dark events that took her father.

Until that moment, Lyra didn't know what her father looked like, only from the figure she had as her only memory. The girl's small hands clenched into fists, her knuckles turning white. I held his hand, trying to give her strength and calm her down.

Something very sensitive and they easily presented Horaces in front of the people of Andalus, the people of Andalus who still held a grudge against Horaces. What I'm afraid of will affect Helen. The pale-faced girl lowered her head even more, not wanting to see the Andalus people who hated Horaces.

"This is not true at all."

The screen in front showed the figure of Queen Catherine, her expression looked completely different from the last time I saw her, after her threat at that time.
