Chapter 2: Out of Bounds
in a white space devoid of color and light, yet illuminated, a boy lay on the floor sleeping peacefully around him a phone, a picket knife, and a blanket lay strewn about as though they were tossed randomly.
the boy slept on the floor for a few hours before awakening suddenly when he felt fear. his eyes darted around before spotting a grotesque and horrifying monster walking towards him, looking him dead in the eye.
marqs got up as fast as he could and looked around, as the beast was quite a bit away, and saw the items laying around him. he quickly picked up his phone, knife, and blanket and booked it. of course the beast wasted little time is running after him, and it didn't take long for the beast to be catching up to marqs.
he looked back in fear but he could do nothing but run as there was nothing but white emptiness surrounding them both, nothing to use to get away or even distract the thing, just him and it and the white void.
but when he looked ahead again he saw a color for the first time, green. he realized as he got closer to it that it was a weird portal that looked like a crack and it led to a forest. The beast behind him though wasn't too keen on letting him get away and tried to swipe him.
marqs barley avoided this and quickly came up with a plan. he threw the blanket at the beast and it caught its face, blinding the beast and causing it to stop and thrash about. the crack was close now and marqs spent his remaining energy and ran faster than he ever had before into the crack.
the crack closed 5 seconds after, allowing marqs to see the beast free itself and watch in anger as it's prey got away to safety. marqs collapsed and breathed fast and hard as he just escaped death.
"you know, almost dying in this unknown place wasn't exactly what I had in mind for 'different'" he said to the higher being he prayed to last night. He eventually got his breath back and started to cautiously walk around the forest he was in, carefully not to alert any wildlife that may want to eat him.
he checked his phone and saw he, obviously, had no signal. he tried calling someone but it failed and he sighed in defeat.
marqs wasn't fat by any means, he was fit and 6'2, he had brown hair black eyes and enjoyed accessorizing himself. he had a job in his best friends company, working as whatever he was needed as. Whether that be manual labor or kicking someone out of the building. However, that beast was easily his height just on all fours and could easily defeat a bear let alone him. Marqs decides to find a small cave and sleep inside after blocking the entrance with leaves and rocks.
