Chapter 3: Silver Fairy (1)

At a closer look, the young woman seemed to be in the middle stage of her adolescence.

Wide eyes green like shimmering emeralds, curly lashes long and dark, button nose round and straight, heart-shaped lips plump and glossy, and skin pale and smooth as if they had never met the sun.

<i>'Is she one of those witches too? How beautiful.'</i>

Taylor couldn't help but think. His eyes were mesmerized and smitten, so full of appreciation until his sight landed on her outfit.

<i>'Such a horrible sense of fashion!'</i>

His eyebrows twisted into a frown as the corner of his mouth stiffened.

<i>'Blue knee-length linen dress with long loose sleeves fitted in the wrist, scarlet sleeveless tunic draped over the one-piece clothing, tight-fitting orange hose secured with hidden garters and also, what's with those ruby red shoes?!!</i>

<i>Sure, the color matches your nice piece of a tunic but again, what's with those uncouth-looking ruby red shoes?!! How could you ruin that God's masterpiece face with this unsightly taste of yours?'</i>

He wanted to open his mouth and scold her for tainting his eyes; however, not even a slight sound was produced no matter how much he had struggled. Despite his life hanging by a thread, long gone was the fear and despair haunting him till this moment. Probably, that was just the kind of a person he was, simple-minded and simply forgetful.

The young woman ignored the youth's gaze and the strange look on his face. Whatever it was running inside his mind, she wasn't a bit interested.

With a thought, the hem of her plain dress fluttered as the broomstick beneath her pierced through the strong wind, only stopping when it was half a meter away from the ground. Jumping off the flying wooden stick, she landed just a foot away from the youth's sorry figure.

The young woman then lowered herself to reach for the youth's collar before she gathered the cloth into a fist and threw him out of the formation with a swing.

<i>Bam!!</i>

The birds nearby flapped their wings in a frenzy as the youth crashed onto a patch of grassland clear of big rocks nearby, his face landing first. Rolling his eyes, the youth passed out from the hard collision.

Although there was no part of his body devoid of wounds, at the very least, his life wasn't in danger for now.

Seeing that she had done quite a good job in rescuing that poor man, the young woman rubbed her hands with a satisfied smile before she turned to face the house eerily illuminated by the dark red glow originating from the rotating runes.

"Who are you?"

The worn-out voice of a mature woman sounded out once she placed a foot onto the wooden plank. The young woman's relaxed smile widened as the hard soles of her shoes hit against the wooden podium, creating a rhythmic clacking sound with every step she took.

<i>Creak!</i>

She pushed the slightly opened door wide. With the dim and hazy red light as her only guidance, her sight then darted from one end to the other end of the room, before it landed onto an adult black cat sitting on a small bed barely enough for a person to sleep on, its eyes glowing with brilliant red light.

"Hello, are you the Blood Maiden, Miss Eurodette?"

The young woman sounded out once her emerald green orbs met the cat's red ones. It was much more comfortable to speak when their eyes could meet one another. After all, she had been raised as a young lady with proper manners.

"You... How did you know my name? No, wait. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY ARRAY?!!"

The voice first came off as baffled and full of uncertainty however, once it noticed that something seemed to be off, the voice turned into a wary and also, a demanding shout full of hostility.

'That's fast.'

The young woman quickly dropped her facade. She had been reversing the flow of mana empowering the formation, draining its power little by little to avoid the witch's radar but now, since her sneaky action had been found out, she wouldn't have to keep her pretense any longer.

With a flick of her finger, the intense gravity boring down onto her body disappeared in an instant. Following that, the intensity of the formation's glow and the violent rocks of the ground slowly went down before they both ceased to exist.

"Let me introduce myself, Miss. I'm Serene Lloyd. Please be at ease as I carry no harmful intention with my sudden arrival. And also, I don't think it would be a good idea to grind such a lovely house into dust, don't you agree?

The young woman spoke out as she placed a hand across her chest, bowing down in a greeting.

"No harmful intention? You sure can jest. Just state what you want and leave. I never welcome uninvited guests into my house!"
