Chapter 29: I Could Not Do It

When Renault woke up, he found himself lying on a hospital bed in the school's infirmary, with his chest and abdomen wrapped in layers of bandages. Although he felt some pain, he had no major obstacles in movement.
"Oh, you're awake," a voice said.
Renault turned his head and instantly widened his eyes. A skinny, yellow-haired man was sitting by the bed, his eyes sunken and dull, staring at him.
Renault didn't recognize the man, but the voice...it felt strangely familiar.
"What's wrong, can't recognize me? Well, it's understandable. Anyone who sees me for the first time in this state wouldn't recognize me. But how about this?"
The man smiled and raised his right arm.
With the sound of "whoosh," his previously slender arm suddenly bulged and turned into a muscular and powerful one.
Unfortunately, this appearance only lasted for three seconds before disappearing without a trace.
But even just three seconds was enough for Renault to understand everything.
"Oh...All Might?"
"You recognize me now."
"How...how could you turn into this? Could it be what the League of Villains' people said was true?"
Renault furrowed his brows, too preoccupied to even check his injuries or Quirk status.
"Well, that's a bit complicated. I think it's better to wait until you've recovered and find a good opportunity to explain it to you slowly, because...," All Might's mood turned heavy as he recalled the sensation he felt at U.S.J.
Shaking his head, All Might looked at Renault and said, "Did you leave your younger sister behind? Did something happen inside the barrier that we couldn't see?"
Renault remained silent for a while before sighing and saying, "I could have taken Suzushina Yuriko with me, even without using that exaggerated method. But he stopped me."
He then revealed what had happened earlier. Initially, Renault was confident that he could bring Suzushina Yuriko with him. However, Kurogiri, who had lost his combat power, unexpectedly unleashed an extremely powerful black fog, completely isolating their location.
Then, a tall man wearing black clothes and a mask appeared. Although the man's eyes were not visible due to the mask, Renault still felt as if the man was observing him.
Renault acted quickly and condensed the air into a sharp cone and shot it towards the man. However, the man blocked the attack with his right hand, which had transformed into multiple layers of special metal walls. Although Renault managed to break through most of the walls, the attack was still blocked.
After his right hand had recovered, the man spoke with a deep and heavy voice, "I never expected that the little baby I thought wouldn't live past five years old or awaken a Quirk would grow up to this level. It seems that you are really lucky."
Upon hearing the man's words, Renault's eyes widened. He realized that perhaps his origin, his separation from his younger sister, and his biological parents were all related to this man.
"Who are you? Where are my parents?"
"Parents?" The man's tone changed, and he suddenly laughed. "Heh, it seems my disciple didn't tell you. Actually, you don't have parents. Or, I should say you do, but they didn't give birth to you. They only provided their genes to give you the Vector Manipulation Quirk. But it was their choice, as they were both mad scientists. Even after discovering that you, the elder twin brother had zero talent, they chose to abandon you and keep only the younger sister with confirmed talent. But in my opinion, survival of the fittest is inevitable. I just didn't expect you to have survived."
Renault lowered his head, feeling a bit confused. He never thought about looking for his biological parents since he was just a transmigrator. But he still wondered if he had any family left in this world. However, the truth he learned now shattered his illusions.
"You really piss me off, you bastard..."
With these words, Renault strode towards the man. "Although I don't know why you suddenly appeared and told me all this, you seem to be the boss behind the scenes. So, just stay and face me!"
His eyes turned crimson, and two black streams of energy appeared behind his broken battle costume, forming irregular wings.
"Oh? Your strength has improved, and this oppressive feeling...it's amazing. Looks like I can't escape."
Although the man said so, he didn't show any nervousness. In the next second, Suzushina Yuriko stood in front of him, blocking Renault.
"I can't let him die. He raised me."
"..."
Renault's breath slowed down a bit as he looked at Suzushina Yuriko's serious and stubborn expression. "Step aside."
"I can't let him die. He raised me."
In that moment of hesitation, the man in black immediately grabbed Suzushina Yuriko and used his Quirk, to transfer them all away.
After speaking of this, Renault slowly closed his eyes and said, "I may be able to win, but I absolutely do not want to harm her; she is my only family left in this world, so I can only let them leave. I can tell that although that person claims to have raised my younger sister, he doesn't have much affection for her and only see her as a weapon."
"And your younger sister, can't she tell?"
"Who knows..."
Turning his head, Renault looked at All Might's expression and asked, "All Might, do you know that man? Your expression changed strangely for a moment when I mentioned his abilities."
"...That was my enemy, someone I defeated before but who also injured me severely. I just didn't expect him to reappear, and he's even raised and trained many others as villains."
Shaking his head, All Might adjusted his mood and said, "Let's talk about these things later. Young Renault, Recovery Girl checked and it seems like your Quirk has disappeared or gone dormant."
"I know, it'll recover in three days."
"That's good. Although I don't know what kind of method you used, I'm sure there are side effects, so don't use it again in the future."
Standing up, All Might said, "Young Renault, you're a U.A. student now. If something happens, we teachers will stand in front of you. Don't worry about anything else, just work hard to make yourself stronger. As for your younger sister, I will ask acquaintances to investigate. If there is any news, I will let you know."
