This is where it all began. The Legendary of The Balogun's

It is at Chief Balogun's Mansion a Sunday afternoon in Banana Island Lagos.
The Balogun family gathers to have a family Lunch as instructed by Chief Williams Balogun"
Golden rings on his ears with his grey hair touching the surface of his shoulders. He cracks his fingers filled with rings home to rear diamonds that glitter even with a slight sense of glory. A pair of lenses in front of his eyes is indeed worth a fortune; a limited edition Ex-Chief Justice kate Balogun got him from her last trip to London.

The election results will be out in a few days; what will it be this time son
( as he picked up the glass of wine in front of him. )

It's fine, Mom. I am no amateur to my father teasing me with his sarcastic questions. Well, father, I guess the throne will be mine this time; Lagos will be ours, (wears a convincing smile)
CHIEF BALOGUN
How certain are you of your words this time?
MR AYO BALOGUN
Father, I have done everything you have instructed me to do in the past; I got you the oil well in Warri, I have transferred 80% of The Estates shares under our family name, and a lot more. I think these are enough reasons for you to have some faith in what I can and cannot do.
CHIEF BALOGUN
Not for once have you failed me in the past except in your continual refusal to be my next of kin; also, do not forget this is your third attempt to possess the governorship of Lagos.
MR AYO BALOGUN
I understand your worries for me but at the same time, I am yet to comprehend why you have taken it personally; I denied your involvement in the last election and the one before that. But I have decided to sit on my ego and involve you this time. I find it strange that this is still a valid reason why you hardly rest your eyes even at night these days; you are the Chief himself, the man who has the power to do and undo! I can't lose because you can't allow it. Yes, the law is the law, and Chief Balogun can not change it, yet the law can't comprehend his influence.
(He picks up a bottle of champagne)
Dr AKANDE
(Chiefs younger brother)
What exactly are you implying?
MR AYO BALOGUN
All I'm saying is that your brother can't let me lose, Uncle.

(The Chief Justice of the nation; brother to Mrs kate Balogun)
I still find it hard to process it that way; I do not know if to tag it as an accusation, yet I'm sure you meant a lot more than you explained!
MR AYO BALOGUN
Well, these are your opinions. I don't think father sees any of what I have said as an accusation.
(He mixes a portion of his Nigeria rice and stew)

(He points his right index at her.)

(She drops her cutlery )

Eniola, this isn't about your question, don't you get it? Silence is your only option at this table. This is adults' conversation so just let them be!
TAIWO
(Ayo Balogun first son)
Her question is not the problem? Her speaking up is? Oh brother, let's be sincere. If sharing her opinion is the problem here, then don't speak of her question not being an issue because if it isn't, you would never speak of the necessity of her silence.
CHIEF BALOGUN
I would appreciate it if we could all eat in silence. I do not want a word on this table concerning this issue again; I arranged this dinner to have a nice and peaceful time with my family.
( He wipes his mouth with a table napkin)
MRS KATE BALOGUN
Temi, the newest doctor in the family, how was your trip from London?
(she smiles at her favourite Grandchild)

(Mr Ayo Baloguns second daughter)
It went well. As much as I miss life over there, words can't express the joy I feel in being around the people I love the most.
ENIOLA
Forgive me for not saying this earlier. I hope my confess will make up for it.
(She gaze at Temi)
TEMI
I cannot wait to hear this
(she shone her thirty-two)
ENIOLA

( she expressed in an exciting tune)

( drops his right hand around her shoulders)

Just for emphasis sake, I hope I made myself clear concerning your return back to your father's mansion with immediate effect?
( He has his eyes fixed at Taiwo)
TAIWO
I have given your words some thoughts Grand Father, and I have decided to return under two conditions that must be fulfilled.
MR AYO BALOGUN
Wow, that will be awesome. I have been waiting for this day. Name your request son!
TAIWO
Firstly, I would appreciate it if Bayo shows me some respect and regard me as the first son of this family. Secondly, my stepmother speaking ill of my late mother is something I won't tolerate anymore!
BAYO

That is okay, Don't you guys get tired of fighting? Taiwo, you are the eldest. I had high hopes of you putting a stop to the heat on this table long before Temi spoke up. As for you, Bayo, don't you ever get tired of throwing these unpleasant words at your brother? I often worry about your tongue resenting you for your lack of maintenance and uncontrollable use of words. Yes, I get it. Taiwo is a half brother, and you see him as a huge competition, but he is the first fruit of your father and This family. As for you, Temi, you should know your place. The right procedures become underrated when applied at the wrong time!

You sat your ass down here and watched this empty vessel you call a half brother disrespect your mother. Instead of standing alongside Bayo to speak up, you try to be a peacemaker in the middle of open gunfire. Even your father sits in silence, playing deaf to all of this. I keep anticipating the day I will earn my respect on this table as much as I anticipate the day of judgment, (she picks up her bag to leave)
MR AYO BALOGUN

MRS BISOLA BALOGUN

(she walks out of the room)
MRS KATE BALOGUM
I have told you times without number son that your wife has some loose nuts upstairs

MR AYO BALIGUN
With all due respect, mother, I find the choice of your words unpleasant and disrespectful to me and my children.
MRS KATE BALOGUN
Forgive my choice of words, son. It wasn't my intention to upset you or anyone on this table, but how stupid of her to walk out on everyone on the table can not be over emphasized.
BAYO

(He gets up to leave as he gazed at Taiwo)
CHIEF BALOGUN
If your association with the Balogun's influence and power is important to you, you should think twice about leaving this room. This is a message to everyone on this table too.
Taiwo, go back home just as it should be. Anyone who has an issue with this, does have an issue with me. As for you, son, talk to your wife. I am slowly losing it. An attitude of this nature will never be tolerated in my presence again.
Akande and Bola see me in my office before leaving, (He holdson to his Golden walking stick as he gets up to leave)
MRS KATE BALOGUN
But you have barely touched your rice, even your beef
CHIEF BALOGUN

(he walks out of the room)

(she wears a smile with invisible acreages of mockery)

CHIEF BALIGUNS HOME OFFICE. (BANANA ISLAND LAGOS)

Your son's obvious accusation today brings me so much distress, and I am curious about your thoughts on this Chief?
CHIEF BALOGUN
It is no hidden fact that he is suspicious of my involvement in his failure to secure Lagos in the past but that causing me distress will be as difficult as a camel passing through the eye of a needle. The most he can do is validate his suspicions and possibly confront me about them.
(He picks up a glass of whisky in front of him)
DR AKANDE
None of us here are ignorant of your son's continuous refusal to take over from you, and we all can agree that this was and still is a huge valid sign of responsibility evasion.How then can we trust Lagos in such hands?
(He rests his back on chiefs half a million dollars couch)
CHIEF BALOGUN
Questions of this nature stir up the comfort I feel knowing you are indeed a Balogun. It is no breaking news to you all that Mrs Adesoji will be running for the same position. The Balogun remains the most powerful family in The Nation but The Adesojis can not be underestimated. Mrs Adesoji will do anything to get back at me for ending her husband's life.
Lagos is the birth root of our influence and power. I cannot risk Lagos into the hands of my biggest competitor. The easiest way to prevent The Adesojis is to let my son win; I'd rather dine with an imbecile that I can control than with a serpent I can't trust.
DR AKANDE

Concerning your next of kin Chief, what are your plans for your grandsons since your son has made it known to us that it is indeed of no interest to him, and as much as age is just a number , we all can angry that everyone born of flesh and dust shall return to dust.
CHIEF BALOGUN
I have got my eyes set on Taiwo, but he seems not to be too interested in leadership; Bayo appears very interested. However, his impatience and temper are red flags I can not ignore. Eniola is also worth it because she possesses a strong and disciplined mind, but Bayo would rather die than watch Eniola occupy a position he has worked for his whole life. It is something I shouldn't rush. My position is too important to decide on right now. Our primary focus should be on the election.
HON J BOLA

DR AKANDE
that reminds me, have you decided on the hospital that best compliments Temi?
CHIEF BALOGUN
Her opinion on this is important too, precisely why I requested you send her a copy of the available hospitals, so I suggest you speak to her concerning that first. That will be all for now!

What do you think of the conversations going on in there?

I find it strange that you put your ears through such stress to seek information that got nothing to do with you.

TAIWO
It could be a lot, sister. You shouldn't expect us to guess whatever it is; Grandfather is involved, so I wouldn't waste my time if I were you.

My instinct tells me it has a lot to do with the elections.
ENIOLA

BAYO

DR AKANDE
I appreciate your desire to help, my dear, but your request may be difficult to process by the public, and your Grandfather may not let you have your way with this.

TONY ADESOJI
Good Morning mother, Tony, greeted!

TONY

Let it go, mother; it is too early to accommodate such anger obviously from someone who can never be worth it, so how are the elections going? When will the final results be out?
Mrs ADESOJI

TONY
I do not know if It is just I who feels awoken by the fact that Mr Balogun made it to the finals this time around.
(He appeares puzzled)
MRS ADESOJI
I have given it much thought myself, son, and I have concluded that Chief's involvement in this cannot be overemphasised. Mr Ayo Balogun has always wanted to be governor, but Chief wouldn't let him be because he can't trust his son with such intense responsibility. However, his reason for letting him reach the climax this time is yet to be a resolved misery.
TONY
Isn't it obvious, mother? Chief Balogun sees you as a threat and the only person running for the same post that can stand a chance against you is his son.
MRS ADESOJI
Where is the lie here, son? The truth you have spoken, and I am quite sure Mr Balogun is ignorant of his father's obvious manipulative activities. I know, mother, but as we all know, Rome was indeed not built in a day; let's take what we can first. Let's weaken them once we can do that, we can possess more with ease.
MRS ADESOJI
The truth you have said, son, I have attempted on Chief's life in the past, and none, as we both know, were successful. We lost your father after the first and our shares at Festac Groups after the second, so we have to be careful, son.
TONY
As the saying goes, mother, "if you can't take their life, take that which they take pride in breathing for" since we cannot take his life, let us slowly take away the source of his respect, power and pride.
