Chapter 46: Upcoming Trials

Mornings were something that Rias did not like. She preferred waking up a little late and staying up a little longer. However, with guests over and with the knowledge that they had to leave for Kuoh soon –she woke up groggily.

"*Ugh*"

As she got her feet on the ground, she felt a sudden spike of pain around her hip. She barely managed to keep herself from stumbling down and had to grab the bed frame for support.

For a second she wondered why she felt such pain but upon remembering the reason, her face became a little warm.

"Yeah…" She mumbled. "We did that."

She could not believe what she did the previous night. She was not sure how to act in front of Kento anymore.

'You are a devil heiress, Rias.' She reminded herself. 'You cannot be weak.'

Sometimes, she just wanted to relax but couldn't.

Slowly walking out of the room, she moved towards the stairs. But just as she was about to get down, she heard the voice of her Queen.

"Good morning, Rias." Akeno said, walking towards the heiress. "Did you sleep well?"

Rias gave the black haired beauty a small smile. "I did."

It was a lie. In truth, she barely got any time to sleep.

By the time they were done with their fourth round, it was already morning. And if not for her fainting, they would have gone on for even longer.

Akeno squinted her eyes. "Something seems different about you."

Rias got a little nervous. "Really?"

She tried to remember if Kento left any visible markings over her body, but she could not remember him doing so.

"Maybe I am overthinking." Akeno said as they walked down the stairs.

But just as Rias put down her leg on the stairs and started to limp, Akeno's eyes widened.

"Are you alright?" She asked, worried about her friend. "You are limping!"

"Must have slept badly." Rias tried to make up a lie, but Akeno did not believe it.

'We don't get such pain from sleeping with a wrong posture…' Akeno frowned, wondering what her friend was hiding.

As they got down, they heard a loud shout.

"Good morning, president!"

The two of them knew immediately who the voice belonged to.

Immediately regaining their smiles, they greeted the boy. "Good morning, Issei."

Issei woke up after two days of coma. And if not for Asia, the boy might have remained unconscious for even longer.

"I heard we won, president! Is that true?"

Rias chuckled. "We did win. And it is all thanks to you and Kento."

Issei blushed. "I did not do anything much. Instead I had to make you guys waste so much time by taking care of me."

"That's not true."

The person to say this was neither Rias nor Akeno, instead it was the boy that just got there.

"If not for you, I might not have the opportunity to fight Riser alone." Kento said, making the boy happy.

"Kento!" Issei greeted the boy. "Thank you for helping us win, man!"

"That's what we came here for, remember?" Kento laughed. "To win."

"And we did win." Rias smiled, looking at Kento. "Thanks to everyone."

Seeing Rias having difficulty walking, Kento moved closer her.

"We will be leaving soon, right?" Akeno asked as Rias nodded.

"We will be leaving after breakfast." Rias said. "Will you all be coming to classes this week?"

"I would rather take rest for a few days." Akeno said, taking a deep breath. "This week has been rough to say the least."

"Kento?" Issei asked. "Will you be going?"

"Nah." Kento shook his head. "I'll be taking a long relaxing trip."

"Oh? To where?" Akeno asked, however Kento didn't gave her a straight answer.

"Dunno yet. I will figure it out."

"*Ah*"

"Careful."

Trying to walk around a bit, Rias nearly stumbled because of the pain but thankfully Kento was there to support her.

Akeno felt something strange from the interaction but wasn't sure what was wrong.

"*Aghh*… I am hungry." Issei said. "We should eat before going back. I told my parents that the trip ends today."

"Same." Kento added. "We should be leaving soon."

Akeno looked at Kento and then at Rias. She noticed the slight blush her King had, not to mention that Kento had his arms wrapped around her waist to support her.

'They seem awfully close today… And Rias has been limping since early today.'

As she was wondering what was going on, it finally clicked.

'Wait!'

Her eyes went wide as she finally understood the situation.

"You…" She mumbled but did not finish her sentence, which drew the attention of Kento.

Kento smiled at her before giving her a wink, realizing that the queen had figured out the situation.

'She is smart.'

While Kento and the gang were enjoying their time in the underworld. The situation within the Shinto faction was quite different.

"He should be arriving soon." Boomed the voice of Susanoo, God of the Seas.

"How far has he come?" Came the voice that was far more soothing than the Storm God.

"He has gotten stronger." Susanoo answered. "Far more so than when I first met him, Tsukuyomi."

The one that asked the question was the older brother of Susanoo.

Tsukuyomi, God of the Moon and the Cold Winds.

"Amaterasu said that she will be meeting the child soon." The Moon God said. "And it is better if you can train him for that. You know how serious she can get."

Tsukuyomi was a very handsome god. Unlike his brother was had a warrior like appearance and a ruggedly handsome face –Tsukuyomi had a much softer face, one that many would consider pretty.

"She can indeed be terrifying."

The one they were talking about was Amaterasu, the Goddess of the Sun and the sister of both Tsukuyomi and Susanoo.

But the bond between Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu was heavier than that of Amaterasu and Susanoo.

Besides being siblings, Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu were also married at one point in time.

However, after the events of Tsukuyomi killing Ukemochi, Amaterasu considered her brother cum husband vile and decided to separate from him.

In the past, both of them shared the same sky –resulting in the sun and moon hovering over Japan at the same time.

However, after their separation –the cycle of day and night began. As Amaterasu appeared during the day while Tsukuyomi appeared in the night sky.

"She is strong and if she loses her temper, it will be difficult for us to stop her."

Amaterasu was the strongest of them all, just below her father who distributed his power and authority to the three of them.

"Indeed." Susanoo sighed. "She will be testing him as well. And unlike me… It won't just be about strength."

"Yet… if he manages to win her approval, he might achieve something that no one even dares to dream about." Tsukuyomi said as Susanoo agreed.

"He will be a completely different monster if our sister approves of him and gives him what we decided upon." The Storm God recalled a past memory.

"He is of pure Japanese descent, belonging from a family that had devoted generations praying to us." Tsukuyomi said. "And he is not a part of any pantheon or faction either."

"While he seems to interact with the devils a lot, he is not bound to them." Susanoo said.

"He is not bound to us either." Tsukuyomi countered. "What you two share is a Teacher and Student relationship, which means he is not exactly bound to us."

"We do not need him to be bound to us." Susanoo added. "We just want him to represent us when the time comes and possibly stand with us when we need him."

"Hopefully." Tsukuyomi sighed. "The Greek pantheon is moving faster than we expected."

"What do you mean?" Susanoo asked, a little worried about the situation.

"Enyo… And Moros are on the move."

Susanoo was stunned by the news.

Enyo was the Greek goddess of destruction while Moros was the Greek god of doom. And if they were on the move, it meant that the situation would soon be out of control.

"Before they appear." Tsukuyomi looked at Susanoo. "You have to prepare Kento Yamazaki."

Susanoo closed his eyes and nodded. "He will be prepared before the time comes." He told Tsukuyomi. "You have my word, brother."
