Adrienne suddenly fell silent, much to Lennox's surprise. He wondered if she disapproved of his actions toward Ares Gu. However, he knew that if he let Ares Gu off, the man might try to harm her again, which didn't sit well with him the first time. 

Lennox cleared his throat, breaking the awkward silence between them. Adrienne didn't say a word but looked down at her lap, fidgeting with her fingers. 

He could sense Adrienne's internal struggle, realizing that her silence was likely a result of conflicting emotions. He gently reached out and gently touched her shoulder, silently conveying his understanding and support. 

Lennox couldn't bear the silence any longer and said, "Addie, I did what I had to do to protect you; I couldn't let Ares Gu harm you again. Do you hate me now?" 

Adrienne looked up at him with a glint of worry in her eyes.
