Chapter 3: A Little Hint

Arthur flopped against the back of the seat when he got into his car. Lukas quickly closed the car door they were riding in before the reporters targeted Arthur for an interview. After that, he hurriedly caught up with Arthur. Once the two were in the car, the driver immediately drove the car on the highway. Arthur could only snort when he saw the horde of reporters disappointed after he left the memorial.

"I think you need it now," Lukas said as he took out the yellow medicine tube in his coat pocket.

Arthur glanced over and accepted the tube. Then he took two tranquilizers and immediately drank them. Arthur then closed his eyes and tried to catch his breath. After a while, he opened his eyes again and let out a long sigh.

"Feeling better?" Lukas asked.

Arthur nodded. "Let's go straight back to the longbark."

"As you wish," Lukas said.

After traveling for about an hour, the car Arthur was riding in entered a large mansion area on the outskirts of Nova city. Arthur got out when the car stopped before the luxurious white-painted colonial-style main building. He stepped on the path stone and entered the mansion where he had lived for the past two years.

Arthur didn't go straight to his room. He walked under the stairs and pressed the hidden button on the wall lamp. Just at that moment, a small gap appeared in the wall in front of Arthur. The man immediately pushed the crack and disappeared behind the wall.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the wall, Arthur walked down the stairs illuminated by the yellow light. He loosened his tie and unbuttoned his suit. Soon, Arthur arrived in front of a carved wooden door. He took hold of the latch and opened it. Then he stepped into the room behind the door.

The room behind the door was dark and illuminated only by the light from several monitors inside. Arthur sat in one of the chairs in the dark room and stared at the monitors displaying photos of two people from his search of the families of the victims of the explosion two years ago. The backgrounds of the two men caught his attention the most. Dexter James and Rayden Hernandez.

"Are you going to meet them?" Lukas asked suddenly.

Arthur nodded without taking his eyes off the photo of the two men. "I can't rest until the brains of the explosion are found."

"What are you going to do with those two? Isn't Dexter James in a military prison because of the explosion?" Lukas asked Arthur again.

"The investigation into Dexter's involvement in the explosion is too hasty. He was linked to the explosion because his sister was the perpetrator of the suicide bombing," Arthur replied. He then let out a long sigh.

"I'll see Dexter first. I want to know how much he knows about the explosion involving his sister. After that, I'll see Rayden. He happens to work at Maple," Arthur continued. He then turned to Lukas.

"Did you find any new clues about the explosion?" Arthur asked.

Lukas shook his head slowly. "It's challenging to find clues in a crowd like that. Especially since the case has been dismissed, but you might be interested in what I found recently."

"What did you find?" said Arthur curiously.

Lukas immediately sat down on the empty chair next to Arthur. Lukas's fingers moved nimbly on the keyboard. When he pressed the Enter button, a photo of the suicide bomber at Onyx tower appeared along with other photos from social media timelines.

Arthur frowned when he saw the photos. The face of the woman who was the bomber did not look like someone in a lot of trouble or depression. Instead, she seemed to be enjoying her life. It could be seen from her posts. Arthur came to know that the woman was an Influencer with a large number of followers.

"This is her last photo before blowing herself up," Lukas said, showing the Eye of Horus photo uploaded by the suicide bomber at Onyx square.

"They saw everything. The Eye." Arthur read the caption written on the photo shown by Lukas.

Arthur and Lukas were both silent. The two then looked at each other with astonishment.

"Could this be a clue?" Arthur asked.

Lukas shrugged while he replied to Arthur. "I'm not sure. She could just be playing around."

"But she made this post right before the incident. It must be something," said Arthur. He then added. "Don't you find it strange that a woman whose life seems fine could carry out a suicide bombing? This is not the face of someone who wants to commit suicide."

Arthur pointed to one of the photos of the perpetrator laughing with her friends on the beach.

Lukas was silent for a moment as he rubbed his chin. "Maybe she was depressed?"

"Oh, come on. As far as I know, no suicide bomber commits an act without a good reason, and depression is not the right reason for their actions. There must be something behind her deadly act," Arthur said.

"Then you should go see her brother. Maybe he knows something," Lukas snapped.

"Didn't I tell you I intend to see her brother?"

Lukas nodded. "But it's not easy to meet him. My sources say that her brother is being held in solitary confinement."

"I can use some of my influence to get a meeting with him," Arthur said.

"Oh—" Lukas loses his words.

"What's wrong?" asked Arthur, who was stumped by Lukas' expression.

"You'd better get some rest. I'll arrange your meeting with Dexter James," Lukas said.

"I still want to be here for a little longer. You can go home now," Arthur replied.

"Hmm, all right. I can't forbid you to leave this place." Lukas immediately stood up from his seat and walked out.

Meanwhile, Arthur was still staring at the monitor screen before him. The eye of Horus's image uploaded by the suicide bomber disturbed him a little. The symbol that had existed for hundreds of years was often used as a symbol for a secret group that wanted changes in the current system or a group that controlled the system itself.

"What the hell is going on?" muttered Arthur to himself.

Since the explosion that occurred two years ago, many questions have arisen in Arthur's mind. The perpetrator who had no clear motive, the government who seemed stingy in providing information related to the explosion, and the haste with which the investigation was carried out. For a major case such as a suicide bombing, the three-month period from the investigation to the verdict is concise. The evidence presented at the trial also made Arthur, who was following the trial, furrow his brow.

Arthur sighed. He moved his chair closer to the table. After that, his fingers began to work to collect any information he could get about the female influencer named Monica James who became a suicide bomber at Onyx square.
