Chapter 3: He Is Back

"You were like my brother, Dami!" she muttered as he did not let her go. She was begging him for hours while not taking her gaze away from the sky, not even blinking that was irritating Damien who was trying hard to keep his cool.

"Ha! I would never keep a relationship with a criminal. Our bond had ended the day when you sold all of us for some money!" he muttered in a cold voice when she frowned. She finally took her gaze away from the sky and gave him all her attention when he snickered,

"Why? Did you not like the truth? And have you ever thought that not only we have to live with it but we have faced its consequences more than you could have imagined!" he was gritting his teeth hard and she knew that he was furious but she did not understand why as her face filled with horror.

"I have done nothing except suffering" she protested, "why are you accusing me for things i have not done. I could not even understand! Why are you lying so much when you were the one who.. Who abandoned me!" she whimpered as her head started to spin again. She felt that all her nerves were strained.

"That is enough, sir Damien. The girl would not survive if you kept staring her.'' The physician admonished Dami who glared at her and then cursed under his breath as he walked away and sat on the other side of the room.

"Then let her die. It would be a way to clean her sins too." he muttered as he sat on the bench like a boy who was chided for no reason.

She looked at the physician for help since he was the only one who was kind to her.

"Sir.. I need to go home. My family is waiting for me there. I must go home. I.. I will be back in the morning if you need me. But for now, I must go." she begged when the face of the man softened.

"I understand that your family would be worried about Lady Farenshire." he said in a soft voice but she still winced at his words that confused him but Damien snickered from the other side of the room.

"Why? Do you not even like your real name now? Or are you telling me that you are not a Farenshire anymore?" he scowled, "you did not deserve that name anyway!"

"Lady Farenshire, why don't you tell us our address. We will go and inform your family about your condition. Maybe they will come and take care of you here so that you will feel better?" he asked kindly, ignoring Dami who was fixed to scowl and create fuss this whole time but the kind advice only scared her as she stared at Dami as if he was going to kill everyone in her family.

Her reaction forced Dami to raise a brow too and smirk.. "Why don't you want to call your so-called family anymore? Even I want to see who you have in your family?" he asked in a provoking voice when something struck his mind and his eyes instantly narrowed, "you know that having two husbands at once is another crime in the empire? Not that you are going to be alive to get its punishment since the first would be enough to get you a death sentence."

This time she ignored the man since she knew that he was not going to listen to her anyway and forced herself out of the room. She even threatened the knights to leave her way but just as she reached the door after a lot of struggles, a large figure loomed over her.

When she frowned and raised her head to ask the person to leave the way, she gasped. Her whole body trembled and her face turned ashen.

The cold pair of eyes keep staring at her as if they would suck her soul out of her body.

"Are you leaving for somewhere?" The voice was so cold and icy that she flinched and took a step back!

"Ty…." Tyrone Farenshire, the head of the second order of knights, the duke of the empire Nyfire. He was a great warrior, a hero everyone revered in the empire and a man with great heritage.. That man was… her husband who had abandoned her more than two years ago.

"Did you even forget my name, Cassandra?" his voice was getting lower and lower but his eyes were so cold that it could freeze everyone present there. "Or you forgot who you are too?" he tilted his head as he stared at her horrified face.

It looked guilty and full of regret like a criminal who was finally caught and he felt his chest burning.

"Already running away? Again…" he took a step forward and she took a step backward with fear crawling in her skin. Her whole body was moving unconsciously as if she had lost all her senses. "You are getting in the habit of running away. But have you thought that you can run away from me forever?" he scorned her for his naivety as a nefarious smile formed on his face.

She could feel her heart in her throat and even if she tried to open her mouth and speak, she failed. She never had the courage to do so. In the past, in the present. She had always only bowed her head and listened. When was the time she expressed her views in front of him?

For her, he was a god that should be revered and respected. He was not a human that she could treat herself as his equal. But that god-like man had.. Abandoned her when she needed him most.

"I am going home." she stated, though her voice was very low that everyone missed what she said but his eyes only grew darker.

"Cassandra Farenshire!" the word came out more like a curse than her name, "you only have one home and i am taking you there myself. So you do not need to worry about it."
