Chapter 33: Love's breakthrough

I threw my bag on my bed, feeling a mix of anger and sadness. Why did Ethan leave without telling me where he was going? Was he gone forever? What if he was in trouble or danger? My mind raced with all sorts of negative thoughts, and my heart sank with each one.

Feeling helpless and desperate, I decided to call Noah, hoping that he might have some information about Ethan's whereabouts. As soon as he picked up the phone, I heard his voice,

"It's unusual for you to reach out fir-" he began, but I cut him off, my voice trembling with anxiety. "Where did Ethan go?"

I could hear Noah's sigh over the phone as he replied, "I swear you reach out every time just for him. I'm not his babysitter. How am I supposed to know?" I could hear the annoyance in his voice.

"FUCK!" I yelled, feeling my frustration and despair boiling over.

"What's wrong again? What did he do?" Noah asked his tone now more concerned.
