Chapter 13: Chapter 13 Partners

"They no longer look for peace, but for political and monetary power," Kypher paused before taking a leap of faith,

"What if i told you that in 3 years the fire lord would be gone, while the 4 nations returned to peace and prosperity..."

------------------------------------------------

"What are you doing? Your speaking treason!" Retu whispered, trying to stop his friend from saying something treasonous.

"Will you tell on me?" Kypher asked with a bland tone.

"You don't know that!" Retu advised

"I know you won't. We share the same view on the topic." Kypher countered with confidence. Retu just sighed. Kypher was right, they did share the same view on the matter.

"As I was saying. In 3 years the fire lord will be removed from the throne. The next ruler will be banished prince, who will pursue peace along side the avatar" Kypher continued. Silence resumed its reign around them. Retu was left in thought while, Kypher reminded himself of what is to come.

"Retu, I've come to see you as a friend at this point. So I'll trust you on this. I hope this trust is not misplaced." Kypher said after a while.

"The world will soon change, Retu. Are you willing to stand up and face this change, or do you wish to washed away after it floods the world?" He whispered. His voice however travelled to behind Retu making him jump away from the bench and look around franticly.

During that moment Kypher vanished from his spot leaving a message to Retu which resounded all around him.

"If you wish to fight against these lies, I'll be waiting for you. Here. By the bench, at sun rise. Be prepared. You won't be returning any time soon." This made Retu fall onto his knees at the display of power. However the seed that Kypher implanted into the mind of the young bender, started to bloom.

-----------------------------------------------

"Well that was risky" And truly it was, revealing such information to Retu. However for some reason he had a gut feeling that Retu would be a very helpful ally and friend in the future. So he chose to trust him. And decided to give him the choice. It was a very hard one, however to properly grow, a person must leave their nest.

Kypher started walking around the noble district looking for a place he could rest for the day, however there were no inns in the noble district. So he chose to go to inn's in the market district to catch some sleep.

------------------------------------------------------

After reaching the bench, Kypher chose to sit down and wait. If he did not come by noon, he would be gone.

He closed his eyes and started planning out his next moves. In a few years the story would start, he could go to the south pole and help them out, but he knew he wasn't needed there. Southern air temple? For what, to pray?... He opened his eyes and...

"Hello!" a cheery face appeared in his line of sight. One of the trio seemed to have found him. "It seems you're awake, pretty face." At least it was the most fun one of the group. Crazy was too much to handle right now, and emo was just... well you know... emo.

"Hello?. Are you day dreaming" She asked again, moving her face a bit closer to the thinking Kypher. "Hello lovely lady, my name's Kai" He gave her a smile. She was one of the few people, who everybody loved. She just that cheerful. The compliment made her blush slightly. She brought up her hand for a handshake, which Kypher returned.

"Call me Ty Lee" She responded. "Now could you tell me, how do you know those moves?" She asked.

It seemed Azula had put her up to this. "Did she ask you to do this?" Kypher asked back. "Not really, I was curious. I don't mind if you don't want to answer." was the response.

Kypher just looked at her, she wasn't lying, he read her face. "Long story or the short one?" He asked, knowing full well the short story was going to be chosen.

"Short story for now." She sat down next to him, and looked at him excitedly. "Got lost, found a hidden library, read some books, learnt this..." The look on her face was phenomenal. It was a mix of excitedness and confusion... and some traces of anger? Was she pouting?

"That's not fair. That wasn't even a story"

"It still counts." Kypher responded back It was fun to tease her. The little fairy just sat there and pouted. She didn't like to get teased. So she decided to tease back. She laid her head on his shoulder and looked at him, with the cutest puppy eyes she could."Pretty please?"

"Heh, fine. I guess those puppy eyes of yours work" He said while looking at her worry free face.

"There once was a kid, who had a master. One day, the master decided he had enough of the kid, so he chose to leave" Ty Lee smiled. It seemed she enjoyed the humorous way he chose to tell the story. "The master however, did not want to leave empty handeded, so he left the kid a few surprises. The kid after finding the surprises was so excited. He rushed to open the box, and was immediately disappointed" He paused dramatically to catch his breath.

"Why was the boy disappointed" Ty Lee asked while waiting for him to continue. She looked towards the pond with her head still on his shoulder.

"Because the present was books."

"And why was he dissatisfied with the books"

"He was blind...."

This made her laugh. Kypher turned towards the lake with a smirk, while secretly enjoying Ty Lee's smile. No wonder she was everybody's favourite character. Her laugh was filled with sunshine, carefree dreams, freedom.

"But he still tried to have someone read them for him, didn't he?" She asked after a while of comfortable silence.

"Yes, he did." He said to himself while turning back towards the pond. "Yes, he, did..." He muttered to himself. Ty Lee peeked at him.

It seemed like he was day dreaming again. She knew he was lying, yet she enjoyed the lie he had spun for her. It was not made to tease her, or hurt her. That was not what he was trying to do. He was trying to entertain her and it was meant for her, and only her.

"It was a nice story." She said after Kypher zoned back in and looked at her. "I'll let you off this time for lying." She teased. "Next time, I want the real thing." Kypher just let out a real smile. Not a fake one he usually uses. But a real one. She nudged his shoulder. "You should smile more. It looks good on you."

"Then I guess I should be spending more time with you then..." he snorted.

"I guess, I should be going." She stood up after a bit.

"It was nice to meet you, Kai." She nodded and started walking away

"You too, Ty Lee" He nodded back and resumed staring at the pond. He knew that what happened right now, was nothing serious. It was more like a discussion or a banter between 2 teens, who were more mature than the rest.

"You can come out now." The bushes behind him started shaking and the fire bender jumped out of it. He just shook his head, ignoring how Kypher sensed him and jumping straight to the point.

"Why were you fraternizing with her? She is Azula's friend." Retu asked with judging eyes.

Kypher just looked at him with pity shook his head, and answered" You wouldn't get it." He continued staring at the pond for a few more seconds before asking,"You ready?" Retu nodded and put on a determined face. "Do your parents know?"

Immediately Retu's confident face expression crumbled and he just looked at Kypher with an aggravated look. But answered anyways, "They were pissed off for a bit, but got over it. They understood that this was something I wanted to do." Kypher just nodded in return.

After grabbing their stuff, both teens started exited the capital and began their adventure...

---------------------------------------------

Hey guys, new teammate appeared. To those who believe that Retu was too gullible, or that Kypher was too trusting, you have to understand that in that world power was more efficiently taught through experience, not constant training.

That's why some families would let their kids into the wild. Because they know they are holding them back.

This was why, both Kypher's and Retu's parents let them go so easily. It was just the nature of things in that world.

Thank you and,

Cya tomorrow...
