Chapter 396: Chapter 396: Winning by Lying Down - Part 1

Not far from the battlefield in front of Silvermoon City, several orc scouts were observing the scene before them.

The Horde's mystics were primarily warlocks, supplemented by shamans. All of their two-headed ogre mages were purely elemental attack mages, and they didn't have a complete magical civilization like the human kingdom of Dalaran, which had been developed over more than two thousand years.

The Horde didn't have magical communication. When it came to message delivery, they were still in the era of short-distance running and courier delivery. No one in the Horde saw this as a problem. In fact, Orgrim was quite satisfied with the recent addition of red dragons to the message delivery team.

Now, these scouts quickly obtained what they wanted.

When the scouts caught up with Orgrim and reported how the high elves had simply and effectively sent the Arcane Guardians, who could barely walk, to deliver food, and how the elven rangers had accurately performed evasion skills in the almost indistinguishable rain of spears, Orgrim sighed deeply after the battle ended with the trolls' 'great victory'.

"Someone always has to pay a heavy price for their stupidity. It was us before, and now it's the trolls... But at least I'm sure that it's indeed Duke who's commanding in Silvermoon City."

The several Horde chieftains slowly moving alongside Orgrim nodded, their expressions approving of the sentiment, 'Yes! Duke is truly cunning.'

If the main force of the Horde withdrew and the elves severely damaged the main force of the trolls right away, perhaps Zul'jin would wake up and pitifully rush back to cling to the Horde's leg. In this way, even if Zul'jin was incompetent, he could still bring two or three thousand spear-throwing trolls to the Horde.

Unfortunately, Duke didn't give Orgrim a chance.

If the orc main force didn't leave, Duke would suppress the high elves and refuse to attack the trolls.

Do the trolls want victory? Here, they were given some nearly scrapped toys to dismantle every day, fooling the silly trolls into thinking they could really win.

Unfortunately, the Horde couldn't wait. Orgrim didn't know how long Grom Hellscream could hold on. Moreover, Duke's reinforcements had already begun to enter Eversong Woods. Maintaining a safe distance of at least 150 kilometers from the Horde's main force, they were advancing towards Silvermoon City from the west side of the forest.

Orgrim had considered ambushing this reinforcement force, but when he learned that Duke had flawlessly called the Stormwind Kingdom's fleet to the western coast of Eversong Woods, Orgrim knew that the Horde had no chance here.

Between the orc main force and the human reinforcements, there were still mountains and plains full of annoying warning robots...

Even if the worst came to the worst, if the human reinforcements were really ambushed by the Horde, they could retreat towards the sea under the cover of the warship's cannons!

Damn your Horde for not having naval power.

"Duke Marcus, if only you were an orc... how great that would be..." After murmuring to himself, Orgrim raised his head and said without looking back, "Let's go. One day we will conquer the entire world, and then every human, elf, and dwarf will crawl at the feet of the orcs."

Although this battle of Quel'Thalas gave Orgrim a feeling of anticlimax, the humans' use of tactics and strategy, especially Duke's military tactics, seemed to open a series of doors to a broader field for him, making Orgrim feel greatly benefited.

Not only Orgrim benefited greatly, but Kael'thas did as well.

For three consecutive days, while listening to the ranger squads' reports about the withdrawal of the orc main force and watching the trolls' monkey show below, not only Kael'thas but also the high elves defending the city began to feel a sense of superiority.

The trolls were indeed working hard to siege the city.

The Horde did leave all the siege tools to the trolls, but many of these tools were not something the trolls could handle.

For example, the Gronn-specific giant siege vehicles, which were at least ten to eight meters tall. With these iron siege vehicles that looked like huge wheels, the fifteen-meter-high, seemingly majestic walls of Silvermoon City were as fragile as building blocks. But when it came to the trolls, they couldn't even push them.

The trolls could only use some more conventional siege weapons.

Unfortunately, every time they were about to approach the city wall, Silvermoon City would open its gates and let out the Arcane Guardians for a counterattack. Regardless of how many Arcane Guardians were in good working condition, their momentum was enough to scare people.

There were also the formidable Windrunner sisters and the members of the Silvermoon Council on the city wall. If the trolls dared to really siege the city, the elves would dare to start a slaughter.

Anyway, the elves just defended and didn't attack, holding on for a full three days.

On the morning of the third day, the moment of decisive battle arrived.

Numerous squads of soldiers came out of the barracks in Silvermoon City, quietly crossing streets and alleys, converging into a torrent. They almost filled all the streets, alleys, squares, and roads near the southern gate of Silvermoon City.

In the widest square, the most elite royal guards formed several large squares.

And in front of the squares, three rows of Arcane Guardians of a completely different model from the previous three days were neatly arranged. They were bigger and more robust. With the addition of a large amount of armor with long steel spikes in front of the Arcane Guardians, they had completely become war machines, rather than guardians for the arcanists.

And the agile elven rangers were all over the roofs of almost all the houses around the square.

Originally, every high-ranking elf did not approve of Kael'thas's risky counterattack. Even if the main force of the orcs left, there were still more than fifty thousand trolls outside, and more trolls were flocking from all over the continent of Lordaeron to participate in this revenge against the high elves.

However, when Duke secretly took Anasterian and Kael'thas for a tour in a forest to the west of Silvermoon City, the Sunstrider father and son immediately understood Duke's deep meaning.

The eight hundred gryphon riders led by Kurdran Wildhammer himself were the biggest insurance!

If anything unexpected happened, these gryphons could definitely come out at a critical moment to teach the trolls a lesson.

This kind of win-by-lying-down, which is almost for face-saving, isn't it the best way to restore the reputation of the Sunstrider royal family?

Leaving a few confidants with Kurdran, both as liaisons and as monitors, the Sun King boldly promoted this major counterattack.

"Woo woo woo—" The elven horn sounded with a rising and falling tone, causing Zul'jin, who was preparing to siege the city, to be momentarily stunned.

The gates of Silvermoon City opened again.

Unlike the previous few times when only one gate was opened as if they were afraid that the trolls would take the opportunity to rush in.

This time, all seven gates were opened.

Like a slowly overflowing river, the torrent of high elves

rushed out of Silvermoon City all at once.

Every troll was dumbfounded.
