Chapter 2: Secluded Knowledge
A whole kind of noises made him conscious again in a familiar place. Dr. Torres kept turning his head and slowly realized this seemingly familiar and wholesome ground he was on.
His eyes started to tear up and behind him, he ran towards a lady vendor of juice drinks and hugged her and eventually he couldn't hold back anymore and started crying like a child.
The lady then asked the kids "what happened, who made him cry?" as a mother she can't just tolerate this.
As his mother talks to the kids Dr. Torres regained his composer. At first he couldn't believe it even after talking to his mother but he confirmed that this all is happening all over again.
He has been given another chance.
3 DAYS AGO
"I thought I heard something."
"Stop fooling around and continue searching!" The suspicious individuals have already arrived at the cafeteria and are in the kitchen, searching thoroughly. Open all the freezers, refrigerator, and other books and crannies.
The two Doctors manage to hide behind a secret compartment inside the freezer.
The compartment is not just big it has enough space inside for a laboratory and it is.
Hidden and secret formulas, equations, and other discoveries hid just under some fish, who would believe that all of this under a kitchen.
"How would you even enter this place?" Edison was amazed as looks around amused on the equations written on the walls.The wall is filled with these murals.
Dr. Torres grabbed 2 briefcases and handed them to Edison. As Edison was about to hold onto he briefcases he felt this strange feeling on his hand and when he grabbed it he felt light too light for a briefcase.
They left the hidden laboratory using a one way exit. By putting his palm on a certain part on the wall another door opened that led them to a sewer.
They continued their conversation while on the way out. Dr. Edison has a lot of questions that go through his mind but ignores his curiosity to respect his friend's research.
As they were about to leave the sewer through a passageway leading to river 2 boats awaited them.
"Professor, thank goodness, other papers you need were in the other briefcases.
The young scientist who is also Dr. Torres's only student asked Dr. Edison let him take the briefcases and he went inside to put them in a looker inside a collection of briefcases.
"I have many things I want to ask you right, the equations, the laboratory, those people, the briefcase. But for now you need to rest, I will deal with the media for you, what you need is to prioritize yourself first. You're getting old." After their talk they dropped Edison on a river in a forest where Dr. Torres guards escorts him back at the Exhibition.
Dr. Torres went inside where he took one of the briefcases he had on the secret laboratory, he opened and inside he closed it again and put it back at the collection. Confirming the THING he is securing he rested while on the trip on the way to another laboratory.
5 HOUR LATER, 3:47 AM
Dr. Torres felt the boat stopped and went outside, His student assisted walking him on the way inside. The laboratory is located in a secluded area near two connecting rivers, Twin River Laboratory. This Laboratory is owned by Dr. Torres but managed by his student.
The young scientist then transported all the briefcase inside and the documents inside were removed and organized in a blank wide board by Dr. Torres then ordered his students to bring him coffee every 30 minutes, and after the student left the room he started continuing his disrupted research.
The laboratory emits a strange yet familiar smell that Dr. Torres likes Gasoline, this is one of his strange habits. He started his research by drinking a sip of his coffee then proceeded to write an equation on a blank board.
In the kitchen, the young student scientist is brewing a coffee, but unlike the normal preparation of coffee he is adding additional steps simply by pouring a white powder.
Back to the laboratory, the effects of the coffee is now taking effect the relaxation of the body and mind, pain relief, increased productivity, reduction of stress and anxiety, enhanced senses, and enhanced brain capability. The powder is a drug similar to ecstasy and marijuana but unlike those two compounds this drug has only one negative effect, which is addiction to it. Dr. Torres knows well that this drug he's made is so dangerous and powerful, and this effect of drugs which is addiction is said to be inevitable.
Dr. Torres is the living proof of this successful drug, only he knows the compounds it has and how it's properly handled. He allowed the young student to analyze the drug a long time ago and yet he is still unable to copy or imitate the drug to its said completion.
In just 14 hours with no interval Dr. Torres finished his 8th chapter of the research. After the research he took a shower and relaxed his mind by taking a pill made with white powder wonder drug and sat on the couch. He took a nap while imagining a simulation on his mind on how he would execute the 9th chapter, where the actual experimentation and implementation of the research will begin.
This went on for 3 days, with no proper sleep and only the use of the wonder drug, there is still no sign of negative effects even addiction is working on him because he is already committed and complete control of his decisions.
Back to Edison, The scientist is wondering and trying to contact his friend for 3 days with no avail. He asked many doctors and professors that work for and with Dr. Torres. He found no clue about his friends whereabouts.
Edison is really starting to get worried.
"Tsk tsk tsk, why isn't he picking up? He could've sent me a message about his condition." Edison is not only getting worried but also now getting frustrated about being always so concerned about his friend but he doesn't get the same treatment in return. He is wondering about their friendship, whether it's one-sided.
Other scientists are also starting to wonder what happened to Dr. Torres, he has yet to personally tell the media about his situation. Not just scientists but also ordinary people who admired his discoveries, research, and inventions.
About 69% of the medicine, knowledge, and simply the technology people used today is invented or influenced by the beloved doctor.
After a week Dr. Torres left his confinement and decided to hold a press after a week of his disappearance.
Finally an update but people still wondered why it took so long for him, but out of respect no one dared to ask.
The presscon lasted for 4 hours, the question he was asked was mostly about his condition, confinement, and his say about the tragedy of. VIGOR LABS.
But 2 questions have a different agenda from the other questions, coming from the same journalist he found it strange no, peculiar.
"I share my condolences, about my question, is it true that under the facility there is an underground secret laboratory?"
How would she know that? He showed no changed in his facial expression and replied "Yes."
After that question many hands were raised but he again let the same journalist ask another question.
In doing so he is challenging the mastermind behind the journalist.
"Would there be any reason for the masses to be scared behind the contents of the said lab?"
He answered with confidence "Yes" even without any documents that needed to be terrified about, he answered because he was aware that they had already planted fake documents, he also said that he would like to be confined by the FBI and take responsibility for what is found at the lab.
He gave the authorities the complete details on how to access the lab. Hours later after he stated that, the FBI sent agents specialising in these types of activities and inside the lab they found nothing but old research experiments.
Dr. Torres was released and a day later he held another press conference. He saw the face of the journalist.
"I thought she would be the type of person that cannot compress their expressions." She remained calm and composed the whole time.
Dr. Torres why he answered yes to the question asked yesterday.
He stated that those documents can be said as dangerous because he defines those as one.
"Wouldn't it be possible for you to change what was inside the lab prior to the press conference, and inside the 7 days you disappeared in the sight of the media, is it really true that you are really resting?"
"I'm wondering why you would think that and I'll think of it as a compliment that you would think that I predicted that this would happen. Then would you like me to give the whole surveillance of my house?" He exclaimed and this time he hid no intention of holding back he completely challenged them.
Dr. Torres then again offered him self to confinement in the hands of the FBI after the press conference. With the same result they found the CCTV footage in the house of him sleeping and occasionally drinking a sip of coffee.
The Twin River Laboratory and his house has the same layout and they used the footage at the Twin River Lab and inserted it in the cctv's house.
The reason the FBI didn't find any of the planted documents is because it has been replaced. The room is based and designed by Dr. Torres and he was inspired by the Apple Box Theory.
The Apple box Theory suggests that an apple inside a sealed box can exist in multiple states simultaneously until observed, demonstrating the concept of superposition in quantum mechanics.
But instead of the apple turning back into an apple until observed, the apple then will be stopped in motion of choosing or predetermined form of the apple, and when open the apple is now a different item.
The laboratory is made with combinations of Elements and Neo Elements.
Neo Elements are Elements discovered by a group of researchers including Dr. Torres and Dr. Lawley in the years 2027 and beyond.
Having the same result of having the lack of evidence the FBI charged and arrested the journalist with libel.
Days later after the presscon Dr. Torres is finally starting chapter 9: the experiment. In this chapter the implementation of the research will begin.
A few hours of experimentation in the twin river lab, a smell similar to wet paint overwhelmed the smell of gasoline. This alarmed the young student causing him to check the cameras outside where the systems has been jammed no connections from the outside is being received.
Due to Dr. Torres weak body, the smell of wait paint gave him headache, and an urge to vomit.
He tried to flee the laboratory but, he has already been weakened, as for the young scientist he already tapped out.
Having no one to aide him as a last resort he injected himself the unfinished serum.
But it ended up doing nothing and eventually as before he even reached the door he dropped dead.
Noises and commotion waked his senses and slowly the dark sight turned to a blurred and his sight completely returned.
He realized he was sitting on a recycled tire.
He has been sent back to the past?
