Chapter 4: Vampire King
Christine's eyes roamed around the dimly-lit room, trying to make sense of her surroundings. She had woken up in an unfamiliar place, with a faint taste of blood on her lips. As she looked up, she found herself face to face with a tall, handsome man. She couldn't help but scan him up and down, taking note of his cold aura and confident demeanor.
"Hello handsome. Have we met before?" asked Christine with a shy smile on her face, but her eyes were clearly looking up and down, scanning the man.
Even though her parents had not allowed her to go to the human world, she could tell which men were handsome and which were not from a book she had read.
The man in front of her was already like the male lead with his cold aura.
"Hey! You better watch your attitude towards His Majesty!" said one of the men who had pale skin near the handsome man earlier. His face looked normal, but Christine could tell he was still young.
"It's okay," said the handsome man raising his hand, stopping the man before he did something.
"I'm Cassius," replied the man with a deep voice and a small grin, making him look even more appealing to Christine.
"I'm Christine," Christine said, introducing her name. She then hastily wiped the blood stained from her lips.
She's just gotten to know a handsome man, she has to look pretty in front of him, right
Christine's gaze then began to scan her surroundings as she finally began to regain her senses.
This isn't her house at all!
She tried to recall how she had ended up in this place, her memory hazy and jumbled.
Ah! Wasn't she put into eternal sleep by her parents?
Why is she even at…
"Where is this?" Christine asked, looking back at Cassius in front of her.
Even though this place didn't look fancy due to the lack of lights, it was really spacious with a high roof.
It's better than her house.
"You are in my castle," said Cassius, his deep voice resonating through the room.
"Castle?" Christine raised her eyebrows, then looked around again, this time taking in the details of the ornate decor and high ceiling.
After she looked at it, it did look like a castle.
"Yes, I am the King of Vampires," Cassius continued, watching her reaction with interest.
"Ohh…" Christine pursed her lips. "I did not know that vampires have a King," she continued, this is the first time she knew about it.
She and her family were indeed from the neighboring island who came here because her hometown had been destroyed by cruel humans.
So she didn't know that it turns out that Vampires have a kingdom here too.
"Alright! Nice to meet you! Oh right, thanks for the food too," Christine said casually while smiling sweetly at the man showing off her beauty.
Who knows that handsome guy will be attracted to her, right?
Christine then turned around, and walked towards the door that seemed to be the exit from this room.
"Stop."
As Christine turned to leave the room, a sudden chill ran down her spine. She felt a presence behind her, an overwhelming aura that seemed to weigh heavily on her. She froze in place, her feet glued to the ground, unable to take even a single step forward.
She felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end as she swallowed hard, trying to find the courage to turn around and face the source of the ominous energy.
When she finally managed to turn, her eyes met the piercing gaze of Cassius, the vampire king. His handsome features were set in a stern expression that sent shivers down her spine. She couldn't help but feel intimidated by the power radiating from him.
"I didn't know the vampire king could give off such an aura! He is very dangerous!" thought Christine who immediately realized that she should be serious with that man named Cassius.
Despite his striking looks, there was something dark and dangerous lurking beneath the surface.
Christine couldn't help but think to herself that Cassius was indeed very handsome, but also very, very dangerous.
"So... Is there something you want from me?" Christine asked, trying to hide her nerves behind an awkward smile. "I know I'm very beautiful, but I don't intend to be your queen," she continued, rushing to explain before Cassius proposed.
All this time she was always locked up by her parents and she wanted freedom, not to be the queen of the man. He's handsome, though.
Cassius' lips lifted slightly when he heard her words. It was the first time a woman had looked so bold towards him.
If he didn't need her, her head would have been severed from her neck, or he would have stabbed her in the chest and taken her heart.
Without a word, Cassius turned to the man standing beside him, silently giving him a signal.
The man nodded, then went running to get something and came back in just two seconds. The man then showed Christine what he had taken earlier.
"Oh! Come on!" Christine cried out, a desperate look on her face as she saw what the man held. It was a wanted poster with her face on it.
Oh, not really. It just looks a bit like her.
She is much prettier than the picture.
However, it couldn't be denied that she looked similar to that poster.
Christine was actually starting to get annoyed with the wanted poster. That was the reason why her parents had decided to put her into an eternal sleep, and it was also the reason why she was here.
Actually, why did she become a wanted person? She had been careful and had not committed any crime!
"I'm sorry about that, but to be honest, I also don't know why I suddenly became a wanted person. I swear I didn't hunt humans or do anything that would reveal my identity as a vampire," Christine said, her voice desperate.
Before her was the person who claimed to be the King of Vampires. He probably got annoyed thinking she had tarnished the vampires' name, right?
"Is that true?" asked Cassius who was a little surprised by Christine's words.
Christine nodded hurriedly.
"That's good!"
"Yes! That's good… Eh?" Christine, who was nodding her head, looked surprised when she realized something. That's good?
"Yes! I'm glad you trusted me! Then…" Christine turned around again, eager to leave the room and put as much distance as possible between herself and the imposing figure of Cassius, the Vampire King.
"Stop!"
Just as she took a step towards the door, she felt a sudden shift in the atmosphere. A gripping aura filled the room, suffocating her and making her feel like any wrong move would mean certain death. Christine closed her eyes, trying to regain her composure and suppress the fear that threatened to overwhelm her.
She then turned around again and looked at Cassius with an annoyed look, trying to curse the man with her gaze.
However, Christine quickly let out a smile. That man is the Vampire King! She better not piss him off!
"Is there anything else I can help you with?" Christine asked with a forced smile on her face.
"The one looking for you is Crown Prince William," said Cassius, ignoring the question.
"Crown Prince William? Who is that?" Christine asked in bewilderment.
Why is that person's name so strange? Crown Prince William? That really sounds tacky!
However, Christine's brain was trying to think who Crown Prince William was, it seemed that person was the one in charge of the wanted poster with her face on!
Suddenly, Christine thought about that man instead. A handsome man she met a few months ago who lives in a palace.
"He is the son of the King of the Kingdom of Maeteron, the one who will become the next King," Cassius explained.
Christine nodded when she heard that. It seemed Crown Prince William was that handsome man.
So it was that man who made her life suffer like this!
"You should go see Crown Prince William."
Christine nodded when she heard that. She wanted to confront him and demand answers.! How dare he put up such an ugly face on her wanted poster? She is much prettier than this!
Looks like she and Cassius have the same goal!
But then Cassius dropped another bombshell.
"Flirt with him, then spy for me."
Christine's head, which had been nodding before, immediately got back to her senses when she realized what was happening.
Wait a minute! Did Cassius just say to flirt with him?
