Chapter 47: CHAPTER 44

[Scott McCall's POV]

"I know what you are." Those words froze Scott in his actions and turned sharply to face the smiling smug face of Jackson.

"What?" He asked dumbly.

"I said, I know what you are." Jackson reiterated. "And here's the thing, however you came to be what you are, you're gonna get it for me too."

That got a different reaction out of Scott as he tried to salvage the situation as much as he could by playing ignorant. "Get what for you?"

"Whatever it is – a bite, a scratch, sniffing fairy dust under the moonlight, I don't care. You're gonna get it for… or everyone's gonna know what sort of monster Scott McCall is behind his hide." Having said his piece, Jackson walked away, leaving behind a panicking Scott who was just confused at how everything seems not to be working out for him after he got the bite, even lacrosse since he could tell half the field hated him.

Not knowing what to do, he left the locker room in search of Stiles, the only person he knew who could help him salvage whatever mess he was in. He wasn't going anywhere near Tristan since he felt that the air around the boy changed ever since that night. It felt somehow cold and off-putting.

…

"How the hell did he find out?" Stiles asked exasperatedly.

"I have no idea." Scott said. He was just as exasperated as Stiles was. How the hell would he know?

"Did he say it out loud?" Stiles asked again only for Scott to be confused. "The word."

"What word?" Scott's confusion became too apparent at that.

"'Werewolf'" Stiles pointed out. "Did he say 'I know you're a werewolf'?"

Scott rolled his eyes, his irritation and impatience showing. "No. But he implied it pretty freaking clearly."

Seeing his best friend's irritation, Stiles tried to cheer him up with a clear fact. "Okay, maybe it's not as bad as it seems? I mean, he doesn't have any proof, right? And if he wanted to tell someone, who's going to believe him, anyway?"

"How about Allison's dad?" Scott said in a dead tone which silenced Stiles as he finally could see the bigger picture.

"Okay, it's bad." Stiles concluded but them arrived at an important point. "Does he know about Allison's dad being a Hunter?"

"No… I don't think so."

"Then we're gonna keep it that way. We need to find a way to keep Jackson off your back for now."

[Tristan Hayes POV]

For some reason Mr. Harris was behaving extra weird today. His heartbeat was very erratic, as if in a constant state of worry and guilt, something which Tristan easily picked on.

But none of that could compare to what he heard from Jackson's mouth to Scott.

He didn't know why he wasn't surprised that someone managed to find out that Scott was a werewolf. It was as if he had predicted it coming from a mile away.

The boy was sloppy, not putting enough caution and also being naively stupid not to heed the advice of others in respect to his well being.

It was only by pure luck and not an ounce of resilient character that he managed to remain unfound all this time.

Now he had to watch out for what Scott would say because as much as he refused to believe it, Scott was intimidated quite a bit by his co-captain.

°°°

[Malia Tate POV]

Malia was sitting next to Stiles for her Biology class and she quickly became irritated due to his constant nervous shifting and glances he took of her.

"What?"

"Huh? N-nothing." He said hurriedly before pausing and slowly turned to her to see her nodding.

"Yeah, that's a lie." She confirmed his fears. Stiles smiled wryly at being caught red-handed but she wasn't letting him off the hook with that.

"So mind telling me why you're so nervous?" She asked.

Stiles contemplated telling her but he didn't since she wasn't exactly trustworthy. He also didn't know how they'd react if they found out that Jackson knew about Scott being a werewolf. For all he knew, Jackson might cease being alive before the day runs out. It's not like they knew exactly the rules of the supernatural community.

"Uhm, it's kinda personal." He tried to change the subject but he kept forgetting the perks of super hearing.

"That's a neatly veiled lie, but a lie nonetheless."

"That's uhm…" He was about to break under Malia's stare until he caught sight of Lydia from the corner of his eyes, an action that did not escape Malia's observation. "Do you think I'm attractive to gay guys?"

"Eh?" She was taken aback at the left field question.

"Do you find me attractive?"

"Huh?"

"I mean, like, aesthetically. Do I look like a guy you wouldn't mind dating?"

"If you don't explain yourself then I'm going to smack you across the face." Malia said, all traces of a soft smile gone from her face.

Stiles reeled back and then shook his head, realizing that Malia most likely misunderstood him. He wouldn't lie and say her reaction was not what he expected. He'd expected at least something mild compared to that. Maybe a little sassy to it.

But then again, Malia was Tristan's girlfriend so maybe that kind of reaction was normal.

He took a glance and Malia followed his eyes and listened to the slight uptick of his heart and came to a realization.

"You like Lydia?" Her question startled Stiles who looked shocked at how easily she realized it.

"Honestly, I think you'll be better without a girl like her." Malia advised. She didn't really know what was so 'wow' about the girl that made a lot of boys twirl at her fingertips.

Stiles let out a hollow laugh at that. He wasn't such a love-struck blinded fool that would just get hung up on a girl just because she had a nice pair of tits and ass, along with a killer face. It was just that he knew who she truly was.

"It's embarrassing, right?" He scratched his head awkwardly with his eyes darting everywhere from Malia.

"Well, it's not my place to judge so good for you, I guess?" She said, expressing her lack of interest in the matter.

"Right… So uhm, about my earlier question. Do you see me like a potential boyfriend, or?...."

Malia squinted her eyes at him for a few seconds and tilted her head to get a better view but, "Hmmmn, nah. Sorry, but I just can't see it. You're good looking though, so maybe that's a plus? You just need to be more confident and give off a less 'stupid' vibe." She said with assurance.

Stiles froze at the brutal words that came out genuine and couldn't decide how to react.

°°°

Malia and Allison were walking along the road with Allison walking back Malia halfway due to her overstaying her welcome into the night.

Sure she still felt a little nervous when she was alone at Allison's due to the constant feeling of fear of being in primal enemy territory.

"Are you coming to the game tonight? Tristan is playing." Malia asked Allison as they came to the pathway. She needed to meet up with Brett, Lori and Jiang who were coming to Tristan's first game.

"Yeah. My dad and Kate are coming. Kate was especially excited to see Tristan play. Wonder what's up with that?"

No one needed to be a genius to know that Tristan wasn't exactly a fan of Kate for some other than being a tease.

"Of course, I'll be there. I need to meet up with some people before the game I'll be going firs-" Malia's words came to a pause and her face turned pale with anxiousness.

"Allison…. I need to run as fast as you can without looking back, can you do that?" Malia said with panic and took Allison's hand, drawing her towards her.

"What's up..with….you?" Allison stuttered as she made the mistake of turning around in reflex and the only thing she saw was a pair of hauntingly red eyes and a silhouette of a beast the size of a bear. The eyes that seem to stare into her soul and freeze her to her feet were the most ominous thing she'd ever seen on an animal… if it even was one.

"Run!" Malia dragged her hands, causing her to break into a fast sprint.

They ran but the loud thuds galloping behind them was as if the grim reaper was inching every centimeter closer while they felt as if they were sinking in quicksand. It was such a suffocating and primal fear that overwhelmed the both of them, mostly Allison.

"Don't stop!" Malia shouted at Allison as she drew the petite girl with her. Allison had already broken down in tears as she heard the feral growl from the monster behind her.

"I'm not stopping!" She shouted at the top of her lungs. There was no way she could stop, right? Malia made Allison cut a sharp corner, throwing the Alpha behind them in the wrong way but it steadied itself and resumed his pursuit

Unfortunately for the two of them, the Alpha stalked them from behind, which meant they couldn't backtrack their steps back to Allison's house to seek the Hunter's protection.

Malia knew they couldn't keep away from the Alpha since she knew by instinct that they were being stalked. The Alpha was purposefully drawing them away from the Hunters to ensure a successful hunt.

"Allison! You'll need to run around back to get your dad!" She couldn't afford to do anything with Allison beside her. Not to mention that pitting off the Alpha against the Hunters was the best way to ensure their survival.

"Are you crazy!?!"

"Listen to me. Your dad has a gun and is the nearest legalized weapons owner in this whole block. Get him down here!!" Allison was only slowing her down since she couldn't run any faster than her current pace.

Not waiting for Allison's response, she shoved the girl between the alley of two buildings and picked up a garbage can that she threw with a precise shot at the Alpha's head.

Allison had already picked herself up and bolted backwards to her house leaving Malia to hold the monstrous wolf's attention until her father came.

The Alpha roared at Malia and looked between her and where Allison ran through and directed his murderous hate at the little girl in front of him.

As if in response to the Alpha's roars, Malia's eyes glowed blue and she released a roar of her own.

ROOOOAARRR!!!

°°°

Tristan was making his way to the locker room to change into his sports gear but stopped as he felt the reverberation through the air and the faint roar he knew all too well.

It was a call for help.

"Malia." He whispered.

The veins around his eyes turned black and his eyes turned a deep blue as he growled murderously.

No one knew, or saw as he dashed with a frightening speed towards where the call came from.

The only thing in his mind – the call for blood.
