Chapter 10: My World?

POV: Takeo

Alas, this was just the start of my day, I still needed to meet up with Teles in the Plains biome.

It took me a little while to reach the spot to meet because of the encounter with that skeleton zero or whoever, but I finally found Teles sitting under a birch tree, clearly had something on her mind. I best not get nosey about it, so I just went up to greet her.

"Sup."

"Oh, hey Takeo!" Teles said lit up, her eyes glowing a bright purple (how strange, but cool)

we strolled around the plains biome as we talked.

"Say, Tak, mind if I ask you something?"

"Sure, what's up?"

"I know you're an Otherworlder, but what was life like before you came here?"

Woah, I wasn't prepared for such a question, but knowing how Teles is always such an inquisitive individual, it doesn't surprise me. No harm in telling her a little about my past life, I mean what's she gonna do about it?

"Well, where do I start..." I explained, "Oh, I know! In my previous life, there were no monsters at all, just people and animals."

"Sounds like a better place to live already!"

"Yeah, it was alright, but it doesn't mean the people around there were any better though!"

"They aren't?"

"Don't get me started, it's like people got offensive over every little thing!"

"I see... Do you miss your old life?" Teles asked

"To be honest, a little bit, but there wasn't all that much going for me over there."

"There wasn't?"

"I didn't really have other friends besides Stephen, most of my relatives are either dead or live too far away, and I only really went to college so I can become a programmer, a job that causes me to be isolated wherever I would live..."

"Sounds... hard."

"Yeah, but to be honest, it was the life I chose, and I felt like there was no way out of my decisions. Maybe I cared too much about what others thought of me, so I gave them nothing to think of."

Teles didn't respond, seemed as if she was trying to process what I just said.

"But!" I started

"But?"

"Ever since I got transported here, I turned everything around! This place was like a second chance at life here!"

"It was?" Teles asked as she got closer to me from suspense

"Y-yep, I made new friends, got a real job, and became a true member of a community! Sure there are some downsides like hostile monsters at night, but I feel like I made a good impact to just leave now! Even though.. you know, I don't know how to leave!" I shrugged

"That's nice to hear!" Teles said with a reassured smile.

"Say, What other interesting things happened during your old life? Like what did you do for fun?"

I let out a slight chuckle and said "Well, you see-"

⛏⛏⛏

"So you have floating islands where you fight other people!?" Teles sounded interested

"Yea, but it was just for fun, no one actually died when defeated, of course, it's kinda like a game" I responded.

My story was cut short when I noticed the sky turning grey, IT WAS STARTING TO RAIN!!??!

Of course, this wasn't a problem for me, but I quickly realized that water hurts Enderman, and there was technically one right next to me! I looked around, there were hardly any trees in this Plains Biome, there weren't any in sight of our location.

When it started to pour, I could see Teles starting to smoke, as if she was being burned alive, or boiled alive that matter, she started to teleport in random locations, trying to get out of the rain.

Luckily I had brought some building blocks with me, so I quickly built a large roof over her head like an umbrella with whatever blocks I had on me (This is why you always need to be prepared kids!)

Teles instantly noticed what I was doing, and teleported to my location, dropping to the ground and catching her breath.

"Jeez, the weather really switched up quickly huh?" I quipped

"Ah! Thanks, Takeo, you're a lifesaver," Teles said calming down under my roof.

I sit down next to her, and she rests her head on top of mine, I think I was too short for her to rest it on my shoulder...

"Of course, I was worried something like this might happen soon," I said reassuringly

"I'm impressed, I've never seen anyone build as quickly as you could. How do you do it?" she asked

"Umm, to be honest, I'm not sure, I guess it was just something I trained to do a while back," I said trying not to reveal my in-game knowledge

"Ah, makes sense, I've heard about when you built that wall around your village!" Teles said (I guess the word gets around commonly with the enderman) "What else has been going on?"

"Ah, well I met another one of those 'Demi-Monsters' you told me about earlier!" I said

"Oh really?" Teles perked up from hearing my news

"Yeah, this one was a Skeleton."

"Interesting, that's gotta be hard to survive with all the negative perks..."

"That's what I said!" I remarked, "Say, have you seen any other monsters who became human like you?" I asked

"Well..... Only once, but I have no idea where they are..." Teles said a bit disappointed

"Ohh..."

"I'm impressed though, you've met more of them than I have! It's pretty rare to see them."

I thought for a moment "I gotta ask, have any of the monsters ever completely returned to their original state?"

"Not that I know of," Teles said "It takes a lot, and I mean A LOT of xp, most monsters that managed to even survive this long weren't capable of doing so."

"Jeez, that's rough... You know, I'm not sure I would have even been able to save that skeleton if wasn't for you."

"What do you mean?"

"I might've killed them if I didn't know about this world's secrets..."

"Yea, most humans do that, we may look similar, but in their eyes, we're just the same monsters that they know..."

"Well, how about I change that!" I proposed

Teles looks at me, her eyes start to glow again, but this time it's out of curiosity "What do you mean?"

"Xp is what is needed to change monsters back right?"

"That is correct,"

"Then I might have an idea for part of this solution!" I said

⛏⛏⛏

"Takeo, this idea seems impossible..." Teles said

"Ain't impossible unless I try it" I shrugged

She laughed softly "You really are capable of doing the craziest possibilities, why do you want to help so much?"

I pondered that for a moment "I'm not sure, maybe it's because I could relate to them, maybe it's because Stephen's helpful personality rubbed off on me, I just know I want to try to do something!"

Of course, the reason many people don't talk to me is that I was never social with them, to begin with, I'm not sure why being sent to this world changed me so much! (Probably cause I wanted to survive so badly!)

However, these monsters didn't ask to be put in this predicament, so I know it's gotta be like living in a nightmare for survival here. That made me remember something said to me a long time ago...

"Something my dad always said to me before he passed away, 'Always try to help if it's in your power, especially since no one else will do it!' So I at least want to help as many as I can, for I know that none of them want this!!!" I explained

Teles was taken aback a little by my speech, then got closer and said

"I'll help you any way I can! After all, I've experienced that awful state myself, I'd like to at least help other monsters become full or part human again!"

"Thanks! Well to start, I need as much information as possible about the monsters, that way I can help them easier!" I said

Teles thought for a moment, then said "Well, we're going to be here for a while, and I've known you for quite some time, how would you like to hear the history of what happened to the end dimension?" Teles opened up to me "Maybe more information about the Enderman could help you!"

I was wide-eyed, is there really more to these worlds than meets the eye?

Of course, I was curious, but I don't want Teles to start crying again like yesterday.

"Are you sure about that?"

"You told me so much about your past, it's only fair I do the same!"

"Oh alright!" I gave in "Just you don't have to relive things that make you uncomfortable alright?"

She nodded at my request.

I then was told about some of Teles' past, I learned a lot and I understood what happened that day.
