Chapter 24: Black and White Meridians and Crimson Starlight.
"Did you expect this to happen?" Fang Xue asked Li Qiang, although she already knew the answer. Fang Xue wanted to express her thoughts.
"No, I didn't anticipate the Asura bloodline to exhibit such changes, but I believe it is connected to the alteration it underwent," Li Qiang replied, referring to the shift from golden to dark crimson.
"Even if you say that, I have no idea what caused this transformation," Fang Xue said, her voice filled with confusion and curiosity. She was eager to understand the reason behind this change.
Fang Xue and Li Qiang began reminiscing about past events and attempted to find an explanation for this phenomenon.
"Now that I think about it, when I encountered that foolish old man, I sensed something within my body. However, I was so focused on controlling my bloodlust that I didn't pay it any attention," Fang Xue said after a few moments of contemplation.
"Perhaps your bloodlust triggered your lineage and triggered its evolution. However, we don't know the extent of this evolution yet, as there were still traces of gold in that blood," Li Qiang speculated.
Li Qiang was correct; Fang Xue's bloodline had indeed undergone evolution, albeit an incomplete one.
"We are still uncertain about the specifics, so we will investigate the changes later. However, this evolution appears to be beneficial rather than harmful," Fang Xue decided to conduct further research on her lineage at a later time. For now, she wanted to understand the effects of the pills.
"Why did you have me choose these pills?" Fang Xue inquired directly, holding two china bottles in her hands and inspecting the three red pills in one bottle and the three blue pills in the other.
"The red pills are called Yang Fire Pills, and the blue pills are called Yin Ice Pills. They are primarily used to temper the body at the Body Training Level. If someone in the Qi Sense Realm uses them, their effectiveness depends on the individual's Qi affinity and can aid in purifying their Qi," Li Qiang explained to Fang Xue. However, this choice only puzzled her further.
"They seem like good pills, but don't they seem... ordinary?" Fang Xue asked. Among the many pills, these two bottles didn't appear particularly attractive to her.
"Yes, they are relatively ordinary, but the unique aspect is that you will consume one pill from each bottle simultaneously. For others, this would be akin to suicide, but you can utilize the collision of Yin and Yang to temper your body," Li Qiang elucidated, clarifying why these pills were ideal for Fang Xue.
"Can the Chaotic Star Formula achieve the same effect?" Fang Xue wondered aloud, marveling at the notion that suppressing and enhancing the body through the collision of two opposing elements was truly remarkable.
Fang Xue knew that a Yin-Yang collision within a cultivator's body was typically fatal. The two elements would clash, leading to small explosions within the body.
"No, this is something unique to your body. Your meridians are half white and half black because you are half-demon and half-human. Demons have a greater affinity for Yin Qi, with a few for Yang Qi, while humans have the highest affinity for Yang Qi, with a few for Yin Qi.
"As someone who embodies both races, you possess an affinity for both Yin and Yang. It was this imbalance that prevented you from cultivating in the past," Li Qiang revealed the mystery behind Fang Xue's distinct meridians.
"I see... Also, do these distinct meridians grant me any special physique?" Fang Xue sighed, recalling her past and inquiring about any unique physical attributes.
"No, it's solely a distinction in your meridians. While it is rare, it is not unheard of. In the past, there were individuals who could cultivate both Yin and Yang," Li Qiang dashed Fang Xue's hopes. Possessing a special physique would bestow unique abilities, but Fang Xue did not possess such a trait.
"sigh That's a shame... Let's begin cultivating now," Fang Xue sighed and assumed the lotus position.
With a red pill in one hand and a blue pill in the other, Fang Xue wasted no time and swallowed both pills.
As the pills landed on Fang Xue's tongue, they melted, releasing a stream of medicinal energy.
One stream was red and scorching like lava.
The other stream was blue and cold as ice.
Soon, these two opposing currents sought to suppress each other, causing Fang Xue great pain.
When the pain began to spread throughout her body, Fang Xue activated the Chaotic Star Formula.
As Fang Xue commenced the circulation of the Chaotic Star Formula, her Asura bloodline also surged with increased intensity.
As the starlight poured over Fang Xue, the once-white radiance began to take on crimson hues.
Li Qiang, who had cultivated this technique to a high level in the past, observed this change with sparkling eyes.
"The Asura bloodline is truly formidable. Thanks to her bloodline, little Xue is now connecting with a specific star," Li Qiang thought excitedly.
Fang Xue, still contending with the pain of the Yin-Yang collision and the pressure from the starlight, remained unaware of these changes.
Low crackling sounds emanated from Fang Xue's body.
Her muscles tore and healed endlessly.
Her bones cracked and swiftly mended.
Furthermore, her internal organs and meridians absorbed small amounts of Yin-Yang energy, rendering them even stronger.
However, it was her bloodline that benefited the most, absorbing the majority of the Yin-Yang energy.
Unlike previous cultivation sessions, Fang Xue expelled significantly fewer impurities from her body. Most of the impurities had already been eliminated after consuming the poison pill.
The expelled impurities now originated from her meridians, a removal process achievable only at the 7th Level of Body Training.
The pain resulting from the Yin-Yang collision was not as severe as when she had used the poison pill, but it was still quite intense.
"Li Qiang was right. If it weren't for my meridians, which possess an affinity for both Yin and Yang Qi, they would have already ruptured," Fang Xue thought, carefully analyzing the sensations within her body.
Thirty minutes later, the crimson hues in the starlight grew more pronounced, and the medicinal energy from the pills had nearly dissipated.
As the final cracking sound reverberated from within Fang Xue's body, and the starlight began to fade, she opened her eyes and displayed a small smile.
"I have reached the 6th Level of Body Training, just one step away from the 7th Level," Fang Xue thought, immensely pleased with this breakthrough. She knew that consuming more of these two pills would, at the very least, propel her to the 8th Level of Body Training!
