Chapter 4: (4) Prophetic cultivator

Beads of sweat started gathering on Mangrel's face and body, making the dirty clothes on his body stick tightly to his skin. It was very discomforting, but despite that, he continued controlling the life force with all his concentration.

The life force within Mangrel's body moved in a systematic pattern, traveling to every part of his body through the blood vessels.

Crack...

The crackling sound of bones could be heard from Mangrel's body. The pale skin on his body started becoming healthy, while the muscles appeared rejuvenated as time flew by.

Whoosh~

The life force dispersed from Mangrel's body in the form of a green wave. His surroundings were illuminated for a second, but it turned dark the very next moment.

His eyes fluttered open with signs of gloominess in them.

'Twenty percent...That was the amount I was able to absorb from the entire life force, this body's limit....' Gloominess rose within him, similar to how rainy clouds cover the sky, making everything appear gloomy.

Mangrel was ready, but for him to land himself in an even worst body than his past one. This went way down below average and entered the realm of trash.

Even Mangrel's past body had the capability of absorbing thirty-eight percent of life force or origin essence.

Talent was measured as such, the faster and more efficiently one can absorb the essence of things, the higher their talent.

"Sigh..." Mangrel could only rejoice that it wasn't the worst-case scenario where he had no talent in cultivation at all.

Laying his back on the wall behind him, Mangrel got lost in his thoughts.

With the worst possible standing as a beggar and with no support of a clan or any forces, all he could rely on was himself.

Such a situation didn't make Mangrel despair, he had already gone through many instances of despair. The attitude he cultivated for hundreds of years made him unmoved by such a thing.

Mangrel laughed softly: 'Ha, the higher the difficulty, the higher the satisfaction in overcoming it.'

The purple starry sky above gave a mystical glow attracting Mangrel's attention. Another fragment of memory came pouring into Mangrel's mind.

'Purple sky...According to the memory of the past host, the sky color changes every forty days, like green, red, white, blue, black, and such.'

'It must be a unique characteristic of this continent.' Mangrel concluded silently.

But there were still many unanswered questions, what effects does this change bring?

Mangrel knew nothing about it, he was like a blank sheet regarding this subject.

'Still...My plans seem to have succeeded in the end, my gamble paid off.' Mangrel could only sigh in relief released from the pressure he was under in the higher realm.

After facing many difficulties, one of the three main rewards of the divine collector's inheritance entered his hands.

But he never thought that the result would be publicized in the end, putting him in a hard position. It seems like a challenge posed by the divine collector to all three inheritors.

The divine collector was a character who was rumored to have reached the quasi-rank ten cultivation.

Mangrel knew better than anyone that he had very little time left. Those old monsters, rank nine cultivators who were fighting against the celestial being would come running leaving aside the war with no hesitation to find trouble with him.

Hence, Mangrel made an extreme choice. Using a forbidden technique, Mangrel broke through to peak rank six, while fully crippling his cultivation foundation. He would never be able to cultivate to the higher realm in the future.

All of it was to bait the other cultivators to attack him. In the end, putting on an act of self-destruction.

If any more time was wasted, the rank eight cultivators, who were the subordinate of the nine rank cultivators, might have appeared.

Mangrel was an innately cautious person. It was clear that the other rank nine cultivators did not know of the existence of an item named reincarnate.

If they did, Mangrel and the other two inherit would have already been killed by them.

But Mangrel thought-

What if they found his death to be suspicious and looked into it?

There was a chance they might find out a clue!

With all that in mind, Mangrel did his best to die as normally as he could.

Back to the low realm, Mangrel couldn't decide on what to do next. In an environment with nothing certain, who knows he might die the moment he left this area.

There was also another problem.

'Revelation and Prophesy type cultivators, with my rebirth in this continent many of the past prophesy might turn wrong or change dramatically.'

'I should keep a low profile for a while so that no one can deduce about me, just in case anyway.' Mangrel decided with no hesitation.

Until he attained enough strength to move unhindered, Mangrel had to stay undiscovered. Even the prophetic cultivator was not invincible.

...

Lower continent.

High above the sky, in the red region.

A majestic white palace floated silently, not affected by the heat in its surroundings.

The fiery peak palace.

The Lord of the fiery peak sect looked at the woman wearing a long gown and face covered in a white veil, a prophetic cultivator.

He spoke in an unhappy voice: "Miss Hevelene, you were the one who prophesized that the Holy land would be snatched by the Myriad flying sword clan after it appeared."

"But now you are telling me this prophecy might be wrong? How can such a thing happen?!" His voice was the same as the growling of a threatened animal.

The fiery peak lord was truly angered beyond words, this matter just held too much importance to him. It cannot be put aside as a simple mistake and forgotten.

A pleasant voice left the prophetic cultivator: "From the dream, I had last night...An unknown party would interfere for unknown reasons...I am not able to tell anything further than that. Keep in mind that, this is just one of the possibilities, the future is ever-changing."

The prophetic cultivator was bewildered by such an incident too. It was rare for her prophesy to turn out to be wrong like this.

No normal Prophetic cultivator would have even realized that their prophecy was wrong. She found out thanks to her special cultivation, even then she was unaware of the culprit.

Without enough information on the other party and situation, it was impossible to deduce such a matter.

The fiery peak lord could not take it anymore, he slammed his fist into the throne with veins visible on his face. He had already prepared for the appearance of the holy land with all his resources.

It was like a gamble right now, if he failed the sect would be permanently crippled of all its resources.

If the prophetic cultivator before him did not hold a strong background. He would have already torn her apart into a million pieces.

A strong character like him had a very broad insight, he knew that this was not the moment to be consumed by his anger. He quickly calmed down.

A monarch can never let personal emotion affect his decision. This kind of proverb could never be any more true.

Any dictator who was foolish enough to let emotion affect him would never have a good ending.

'Whoever you are, no matter what kind of scheme you use, I will never let you succeed.'

.....

It was already turning dawn by the time Mangrel finished absorbing the life force.

Mangrel who considered the situation with a deadpan look could only decide to explore for now.

He was just an ordinary mortal, he needed food to survive, and staying in one place and doing nothing was equal to waiting for death.

Rustle...

At that moment, the sound of something moving reached Mangrel.

'Beggars?'
