Chapter 2: Four years
"Aren't the flowers pretty", Lilith spoke from behind the girl, startling her.
"Yes, they are", she says after recovering from the initial shock.
Lilith walked closer to the girl and crouched down next to her as she too looked at the flowers.
"My name is Lilith, what's yours", she asked as she plucked a flower from the bush.
"Joyce", she replied as she stared at the silver-haired girl.
"Do you want to be my friend Joyce", she asked, and the girl in ragged clothing excitedly nodded. Lilith came a little closer to joy and placed the red rose she had picked into the girl's hair.
"Where are your mama and papa, Joyce", she asked even though she already knew that the girl is an orphan. In the book, this little girl will grow up to be one of the candidates for saintess due to her high affinity to light magic. In a real battle, she would be able to beat princess Bella aka the ice saint but she did not receive the title due to her being a commoner.
"I-I don't know", she quietly replies.
"So you don't have a mama and papa. Just like me", Lilith asks again, even though she is lying through her teeth. Granted her mother died during childbirth and her father is not physically active in her life, but he still provided her with this huge mansion, maids, a few guards, and loads of money every month. She was content with this arrangement as no one could interfere with her plans.
"You should come here again Joyce", she says standing up and walking back to the mansion.
Over a month, Lilith and Joyce met two to three times every week and Joyce started being more talkative, even leading the conversation between her and Lilith.
"Lili, do you live alone in this huge house", she asks as she stares at the mansion.
Lilith shook her head before standing up and extending her hand toward Joyce. As soon as she took it she started escorting the girl toward the mansion.
"Hey Lili, where are we going", she asks as she follows behind her.
"Inside, I'm sure the maids prepared some yummy snacks for us", Lilith responds and she smiles at the little girl. 'I'd be a fool to just let the saint candidate go when having the chance to possess her. Too bad for the priest who got her off the streets and into the church but finders keepers, losers weepers', she thought as she giggles.
Just as she had predicted the maids had prepared lunch for her and were kind enough to give some to Joyce.
"Joyce, do you wanna stay with me here? If you do I'll treat you well, I'll make sure you're well-fed and clothed", Lilith proposed and the little girl just nodded excited by the fact that she would no longer have to spend the night in the cold street.
"Sophia", Lilith calls out and her maid quickly appeared to see what her miss wanted. "Please call the tailor so he can sew some clothes for Joyce and also redecorate the spare room for her", she orders and like the obedient maid, she is Sophia obliges.
"Status" Lilith gently muttered as the window appeared in front of her.

"Well, that's good", Lilith said as she got off the bed. Another four years passed and she and Joyce had made some progress during those years. She started her studies when she was four years old and hired tutors the year after. Thanks to the system she could read, talk as well as write any language that exists in this world. She has been studying etiquette, history, philosophy, military and war tactics, magic theory as well as swordsmanship. As for Joyce as if faith played its part, she felt more drawn to religion and even awakened her light magic. With Lilith's insistence, she also studied magic theory, etiquette, and swordsmanship.
"Lili, it's time to get up", Joyce shouted as she entered the room.

"Joyce you're up early", Lilith commented as she sat on one of the couches in her room.
"Of course I am. I just came back from the chapel you should join me sometime", as a light magic user Joyce is a devout believer in the goddess of creation Daifa. Lilith had no problem with this as long as it increased Joyce's holy power.
In the story Lilith is Count Scarrow's illegitimate daughter, she is later killed by one of the male leads, on the other hand, Joyce remains a priestess and a weapon for the church. The only person who has a happy ending is the princess who finds her true love marquess Hain. Lilith in the story died at the age of eighteen, killed by the so-called male lead.
"Are we going dungeon raiding today", Joyce asked and Lilith nodded. As soon as she turned five they started raiding dungeons, this is how they got their levels to be so high in such a short period. Of course, they would do this in secret.
"I heard from the townspeople that there is an unclaimed C-rank dungeon in the clover forest. We should explore that place", Joyce suggested and Lilith nodded.
After Sophie helped her take a bath, she wore black leather pants with knee-length brown boots, a long sleeve white shirt, and black fingerless gloves. She had a sickle on her waist and daggers attached to her thigh.
After wearing a cloak she climbed out the window and descended the tree outside her window.
She and Joyce met in the forest outside the mansion and ran to their destination which wasn't far away from the mansion.
