Chapter 76: Trick 75: Carrying a Helicarrier? Easy.
Ace finally saw a huge building in sight, it was the SHIELD HQ, or rather the Triskelion… At least, Ace thought so, he didn't really know the name. Romanoff kept texting him everyday for information telling him to meet her here.
If there was a problem with SHIELD and Steve, then it should be at the HQ, right?
Ace charged at the building and took a deep breath, slapping the air.
A huge purple shield appeared. The shield looked like a Mandala but there were some runes instead of lines inside.
Ace rode into the shield, turning the part of the building that the shield touched, to dust.
He looked down and froze, jumping off his broom and flipping to the ground, slamming his hands to the sides as rings appeared on his arms.
He landed in front of a woman and punched a man, sending him flying before throwing up a shield around himself as he pulled the woman by her waist.
The agents inside started shooting and Ace turned his head, showering the agents in a beam of ice, freezing them from the neck down.
The man he punched got up and cracked his neck, saying "First Cap, now the Wizard… It's gonna be a long day." Ace turned to him and his eyes were beaming purple as the man ran at him, pulling out a knife.
Ace pushed the woman back into her chair and punched his fists together, pulling them apart as the rings created cannons on his arms.
The man paused and Ace snorted with a smirk "Hmph." before blasting different elemental charges. The man rolled on the ground as Ace turned to him, blasting him with fireballs, earthballs, iceballs, etc.
The Charges exploded as the man kept dodging, the fireball burned a hole into the computers, the iceball froze everything, etc.
In essence, Ace was getting a bit dangerous.
The man jumped off a desk and flew at Ace, who snorted and shook the cannons off, falling backwards onto his hands.
He pushed off the ground and stomped on the man, flipping in the air, smashing down, creating a ring above the man. The ring spun and the man twisted, turning into a squirrel.
Ace pulled the air and the squirrel flew into his hands, he grabbed him by his tail before slamming him on the computer desk!
His leg was covered in clear armament with a purple hue as he kicked the entire desk, the man turning back into a man as he smashed into the wall. Ace grabbed the air and a spear of air appeared as he threw it at the man, hitting him directly in the chest as the ice instantly froze him to the wall from the neck down.
The man groaned and turned to Ace, saying "Fucking wizards…"
Ace stood in the middle of the room while the only one who wasn't frozen was the woman. She looked at Ace and frowned with a confused expression, opening her mouth asking "You-" Ace turned to look at her and she paused, her eyes widening in shock.
She shouted "A-" Ace held an ice spear to her throat, gently pressing it against her throat as her mouth froze over. She glared at him and he turned around, holding the spear to the ground, making a call.
The line connected and Steve's voice said "Cloak?!" Ace replied in a distorted voice "I got a room in SHIELD HQ with a bunch of sculptures." Steve shouted "You're at SHIELD HQ right now!? Connect him, Hill."
Ace heard a woman's voice say "Welcome to the Party, Cloak." Ace looked at 'Kate', saying "Heard there was a gift bag." someone Ace didn't recognize said "I like this dude."
Hill said "SHIELD's been compromised. Fury's… Dead. HYDRA has infiltrated and they want to launch three Helicarriers into the sky to kill millions. Need more motivation?" Ace let out a breath, asking "Why is it always millions… What do I need to do?"
Hill replied "Make sure those-" Ace turned to the hole in the building seeing Helicarriers flying into the sky as Hill corrected herself, "Any magic to take carriers out of the sky?" Ace replied "Only a few." before hanging up.
He picked up 'Kate' and jumped, his broom flying under him as he shot out of the building, flying away.
'Kate' made muffled noises and struggled as Ace flew away from SHIELD HQ.
They landed on a roof a ways away from the Triskelion. Ace dropped her off and turned around, letting the ice melt from her mouth.
She said angrily "What are you doing, Ace!?" Ace stopped and said "Saving your life, 'Kate'. Oh right, that's not even your real name." 'Kate' stopped and looked at him silently for a moment before saying, "Bring me back, I'm an Agent of SHIELD."
Ace turned to her and said "No." before jumping on his broom, adding "You're staying here. Out of danger. Maybe the dude you're lying to now will be relieved." 'Kate' froze and shouted at him, "I didn't-"
Before pausing as Ace looked at her, her voice toned down and she continued softly, "I wasn't pretending." Ace snorted and turned back, replying "Lie to someone else who doesn't know better. You, Agent Romanoff, you're all the same. I'm over it." before flying off.
Just as he left, she shouted "Ace! Wait!" Ace stopped and she said "Sharon… My name is Sharon." Ace paused and hovered in the air for a few moments before flying off without a word.
Sharon watched him go and sighed, rubbing her forehead with her wrist as she was holding a gun in the same hand. She turned to see a fire escape and ran over, talking to a radio "Agent 13. I'm outside the Triskelion, what can I do?"
Hill asked "You are? How? Why?" Sharon slid down the fire escape replying "Long story."
Ace flew towards the Helicarriers, seeing a jet chasing around a man with wings. He leaned forward and raised his hand above his head, a spear made of ice appeared and he threw it at the jet.
However he missed!
The jet swerved out of the way and turned their guns to Ace, who pressed out a purple shield that shined slightly as the bullets hit it.
The bullets instantly reflected back to the jet and Ace touched the air, flying around the jet.
A circle of purple gas trailed behind him as chains shot out, coiling around the jet, locking it in place as the man with wings flew away.
Ace landed on the jet and pressed his hand on the top, burning a hole inside as the pilots ran to the hole, shooting at Ace outside.
Ace frowned and held out a shield in front of him, the bullets turning to dust as they passed through. He took out his wand and flicked it, saying "Immobulus." the two pilots froze and Ace curled his finger, bringing them out as he hopped on the broom.
He pointed to the SHIELD HQ and the two pilots floated down to the flight deck as Ace flew off into the Helicarrier.
The man with the wings looked at Ace saying "Woah! Easy. We only need to put these chips in, no need to blow it up." Ace looked at the man replacing a chip and nodded, asking "Which one's left?" The man pointed up and Ace looked outside to see a Helicarrier high in the sky.
He sighed and flew out on his broom, shooting into the sky. He approached the Helicarrier and shot ice beams at the engines, however, the ice either melted or was destroyed instantly.
Ace frowned and turned his palm, holding a fireball as it grew into the size of a basketball. He threw it at the engine and it was snuffled out immediately.
Ace scratched his chin and flipped his hand, cards appearing in between his fingers. He pursed his lips and threw 4 cards out. The cards flew into the engines and nothing happened.
Ace looked at his hand and snapped his fingers a few times, looking up at the engines. He muttered "Hello? Performance issu-" before the 4 engines erupted into massive explosions!
Ace was sent spiraling on his broom but managed to get control, seeing a ship crashing to the ground. He sped down and sighed "If I had my cards this would be easy… No, have your pride, Ace. Who needs artifacts, Ace! They belong to Kamar-Taj, Ace."
As he muttered, "Alright, let's do something crazy. Worst case you're dead!" He flew under the Helicarrier and raised his hands up at it, saying "Arresto Momentum!" a huge magic circle appeared above him and flashed brightly.
The Helicarrier stopped abruptly and Ace slowly guided it down, sweating intensely, the Magic circle started flickering and Ace grit his teeth, keeping it stable.
Luckily for him, this experimental magic circle was much more powerful than usual! Replacing the geometric lines in Kamar-Taj's spell circle with Asgardian runes has a surprisingly complimentary effect!
However, it wasn't time to appreciate this as Ace got a bullet hole through his waist. He screamed and put up a shield behind him as a jet flew over, firing at him.
The Helicarrier started falling quickly as Ace held his side, breathing out as he stared at the jet.
As it approached, Ace held up his hand, icicles flying out of a magic circle, shooting towards the jet as it turned, flying out of the way, but getting a few holes in the hull. The man with the wings flew over and let go of Steve, who landed on the jet, pointing at Ace.
Ace groaned and the man flew over saying "You got this, right?" Ace said with difficulty "Trying. If I don't get shot at anymore it would be nice…" The man flew around him saying "I got your cover, you do you, Magic man. I'm Sam, by the way."
Ace groaned and raised his hands replying "Just call me whatever! Arresto Momentum!" as the magic circle appeared again, flickering as the Helicarrier crashed down. However it was getting slower and slower.
Ace floated down and breathed out quickly as he started getting woozy. He laid the Helicarrier down on the water and swayed off his broom.
Sam caught him and flew to the side, saying "You good?!" Ace grit his teeth saying "My pocket." Sam pulled out a wand, saying in shock "Dude!?" Ace grabbed the wand and pointed at the bullet hole, chanting a healing spell as the wound slowly healed.
Ace laid on the ground and let out a breath of relief, staring up at the sky. Sam stood there in shock, saying "That was some crazy shit, man." Ace turned to him, saying "Do you ever shut up?"
Sam replied "You're the one breaking my world view! Am I not supposed to be surprised!?" Ace said "Just help me up, man. Damn!" Sam picked him up and asked "Where you from? Narnia?"
Ace let out a breath and looked at Sam, who asked "You are giving me a 'seriously?' look? Because I feel like you are." before there was an explosion in the air.
Sam and Ace looked up to see the jet blowing up with 2 people falling from it.
Sam said "Fury's alive with Natasha on the top floor, I'll go for Captain Rogers. You check on them, okay?" Ace saluted and hopped on his broom, flying over to the top floor of the Triskelion.
