Chapter 185: Trick 184: Interview Live! With J. Jonah Jameson!
A while later
Ace was reading his notebook in the memory section under the Occlumency Chapter, when he saw a Daily Bugle report of the D.O.D.C opening fire on Peter and his Aunt. Ace was dumbfounded instantly, what in the hell was this!?
He disappeared instantly, coming to the scene of Happy getting arrested with Peter nowhere to be found.
He floated to the ground and said "Where's your boss?!" the people turned their guns on him and said "Hands up!" Ace was stunned and their guns turned into plastic toys! He grabbed one by the neck and smashed him into the side of a truck shouting "Where is your HQ?!"
The rest of the D.O.D.C agents were terrified and a guy ran over, saying "Stop! Stop!" Ace turned to him and dropped the soldier to the ground, turning to him.
The guy said "What is the matter, Mr. Cloak?" Ace snorted "What's the matter? Oh, I don't know! Maybe your men opening fire on a kid? Hm? Oh, wait! That's right, we shoot kids around here! I forgot, hold on a minute this kid also saved half the universe! Oh but, we're gonna believe a criminal who has been proven to be lying to the whole world!"
Ace laughed "You're a joke. Honestly, the Department of Damage Control doesn't need to exist anymore if you're going to be opening fire on children." He walked over, patted the man's shoulder, smiling "I will make sure every single one of you in the D.O.D.C are living on the streets. If you have no power, you can't abuse it! Ha! It's funny how that works, right?"
Before chuckling to himself, adding "Happy. Tony needs you at SHIELD HQ." as he waved, releasing Happy, who ran into his car and drove off.
The man said "You can't-" Ace turned to him and smiled, "I can't what? Do this to you? You're innocent? You're the good guys? You're enforcing the Sokovia Accords and therefore aren't in the wrong? Hmm, good point! How about this; I make the Sokovia Accords disappear and you find a nice cardboard box to piss and shit in. Good deal?"
He punched his palm and said "Oh, actually! Better idea! I send you to prison with everyone you've put there and see how fast you beg to be released. It's gotta be what 10-15 minutes?"
The man reached for his gun and Ace rolled his eyes, saying "Come on, shoot me. It'll work, I swear! I promise you, I'll die on the spot right here. Just drop dead!" The man pulled his gun on Ace, saying "You're under arrest." Ace put his hands up, saying "Oh no! You caught me breathing! What do I do?!"
The man stepped back as Ace walked towards him, adding "Oh god. I'm so dangerous! I might even drink water next! Lock me up, please! I'm a danger to everyone including myself!" the man shouted "Stay back!"
But Ace literally could not care less about this guy.
The guy couldn't either apparently, as he opened fire, emptying his magazine into Ace.
Ace stood there and looked down at all the squashed bullets before saying "Oh! I'm dead! Bleh…" The man trembled in fear and Ace grabbed his gun, chuckling "You're so moronic, it's no wonder you work for the Government." the gun turned to butterflies and they flew away happily.
Ace took out a cellphone saying "Tony. I was just shot by the D.O.D.C. They also opened fire on the kid, who's now missing. How fast can the department disappear?" he put it on speaker and the man heard Tony say "WHAT!? Hehe… By the morning they'll be in a soup kitchen, I promise."
Ace smiled "Thanks, I'll go find the kid. Bye~" before hanging up. He looked at the man and chuckled "Congratulations! I heard it gets cold on the streets during the winter. Ah well, I'm sure your families will find someone else. Toodles!"
A man with a hat ran over, saying "Hold on, Sir! Sir! We're live right now!" Ace looked over at the man, asking "Weren't you just on the TVs? How did you?" The man said quickly "It's in the van! Anyway, I'm J. Jonah Jameson! What are your thoughts on the menace that is, Spiderman?!"
Ace waved his hand and the DODC agent was moved to the side as he said "Well, I think he's extremely irresponsible and childish, personally. But as a hero, he did save half the universe as well as many people otherwise."
Jameson asked "From Mysterio? The Hero?!" Ace was stunned and looked at him strangely, asking "Not to be rude, but are you serious? There's people who believe Mysterio is a hero? That's probably the stupidest thing I've heard today and it's been a LONG day…"
Jameson held a microphone and asked "And why is that? Mysterio said it himself!" Ace pursed his lips and replied "Okay, let's get into this. I can help the kid out a bit, sure."
He cleared his throat and started "First of all, Mysterio never showed Spiderman's face, therefore you have no idea if his video is legitimate. Also, if I just shot someone and they're on the ground why on Earth would I watch them record a video telling everyone that it was me. Like, in the video Spiderman is right there! Obviously, he's not deaf!"
He waved his hand in frustration, continuing "And also! There is news footage of the battle at the bridge. If Spiderman is trying to kill Quentin Beck, why would the drones attack himself?! Hello? If he's controlling the Drones, why would they be shooting at him?? And don't you think it's a bit strange that the drones were only targeting Spiderman, Spiderman's friends, and his old boss?"
Ace threw his hands up, adding "And even then! Think about this, there was an elemental on the bridge. It was caught on camera and everything with News outlets across the world, right? They it suddenly disappeared and there were hundreds of drones in it… Are you all so stupid to believe that it was real? Like I don't get it. Quentin Beck was a fraud and everyone turned off their brains to believe him. He even filmed himself BEFORE Spiderman even showed up, claiming that Spiderman was coming to kill him! Like what?"
Ace rubbed his eyes inside his hood, going on, "Honestly, I love the people of this Planet and I willingly protect you all from harm as best I can but sometimes man… Phew! You guys sure are dumb! Ironman suits exist, Aliens exist, Magic exists, and yet you guys believe everything you see without question… It's like nobody sat there and thought 'Hm! You know, if I was Quentin Beck and I was a bad guy, I would try and frame Spiderman for my crimes as a last hail mary!'"
Ace shrugged and looked at Jameson's dumbfounded face, adding "It's not even like you haven't been deceived before! There was Hydra hiding in SHIELD a long time ago and then everyone found out, there's been a bunch of other examples and you guys are like 'Huh. Yeah that makes sense, the guy who saves people in New York on a daily basis and saved the Universe from a tyrannical alien must be super evil!' and even like 'Oh man, he must be fooling us all this whole time! Everyone he saved must've been a paid actor!'"
He paused before laughing, "'Oh man when he saved those kids in DC, he was really just assuming his nefarious plots!' 'Oh, I see it now! He saved the Universe so he could be the next Thanos! I bet he even hid the blipped people away in a secret location before freezing their ages for 5 years before sending them back as brainwashed spies, ready for this next nefarious action!'"
Ace slapped his knee and laughed, " Oh wait, I got a good one! Hahah! Okay, okay. 'Oh man, this high school kid actually plotted to take over the world by going back in time and creating Captain America but then he went over and founded Hydra and then he let Captain America beat Hydra before brainwashing him to act like a sleeper agent until he needed Captain America to take over the world after half of it was snapped away by Thanos and he even brainwashed the other Avengers to pretend to save people just to serve him as the overlord of Earth!'" before holding his stomach and bursting into uncontrollable laughter.
Jameson froze and Ace fell backwards, floating in the air as he laughed "Oh god! Hahahahah! I bet somewhere someone just believed me! HAHAHAHAHAH! Oh… phew… jeez… you guys are funny sometimes… Spiderman killed Mysterio… Hahhaha! Oh, sorry…" he wiped his eyes and calmed down, letting out a breath and a small chuckle.
He looked at Jameson before turning to the camera, waving "Anyway! You guys are dumb and gullible, but I will still protect you all because that's what heroes do. Yeah, sometimes I get frustrated at the ridiculousness of you all but you're still my people. It's the duty of the strong to protect the weak, not take advantage of them. If I die, I die. That's my responsibility and the responsibility of, not only Spiderman, but all heroes. To all the kids watching, go to sleep and listen to your parents, to everyone else…"
He gave a thumbs up and smiled happily under the cloak, revealing a smile of teeth, "Live in peace knowing that we're protecting you all. Even if we all die, the enemy will have to cross a mountain of bodies. I think there's a sense of peace in knowing there's someone looking out for you. Goodnight~!" as he turned around and hummed to himself, flying away leisurely.
The Camera man followed Ace with the camera until he disappeared and then turned to Jameson, who was speechless, looking at the camera with his mouth wide open.
He didn't know how to feel at all!
Maybe this was the first time a Hero revealed their true self and feelings to the world, it was strangely… comforting.
The people watching felt that maybe the heroes weren't so different from them! They had problems and feelings just like they did, they step to the front because they want to protect people, not because they're invincible!
A lot of people thought Ace was annoying and idiotic, but a lot more thought that it was human of him. They all had flaws, who was the first to think that Heroes didn't?
Not even 10 minutes later, the video blew up online there were even memes!
It was Ace laughing in the air with the text on top saying 'Insert Text Here' and the bottom saying 'You're stupid but I love you.'
There was even one of Ace giving a thumbs up with the bottom text saying 'Because that's what heroes do.'
Ace was an internet sensation! Countless theories and speculations going around about everything he said. Not only that but a surge of fans for Cloak.
Ace was sitting on top of a building, reading his notebook, thinking about the right spell… Unfortunately, he couldn't just 'reverse the spell'. It wouldn't work anymore because they wouldn't magically go back to where they came from.
The spell had already semi-worked by bringing in people from other Universes, even people who didn't know who Spider-Man was. Max didn't know Peter Parker was Spider-Man, Ace had to tell him for him to know.
Also, a few more villains had trickled through already and ended up in prison randomly. There was even a dude in Mexico!
Ace checked on the guy in Mexico and he wasn't doing anything at the moment, just walking around in a daze, so Ace kept an eye on him and left him there. He even felt a few more people falling through into their Universe that had the same feeling as Peter…
More Spider-Men!
Like some sort of Spiderverse.
Ace wasn't an expert and they walked around trying to figure out what was going on, so Ace left them alone. There was even one Spider-Man who went out like it was a normal night, stopping crime and all!
What a strange guy, he didn't care what Universe he was in…
And there was another guy!
A really strange guy…
