Chapter 17: A reason to die

"Sigh. You're a wild raccoon." Zayden mumbled and shook his head as Ziana stared at him.

He casually took out another phone from his pocket and she blinked in confusion. Wait, did he buy the whole store to annoy her?

"Well, I can still call her on my phone." He smiled showing her the phone and Ziana frowned.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean since you broke your phone earlier," Eyeing at the pieces beneath her slipper, he added, "I can use mine to call her now."

"Mine?"

"Yes. Yours. Your phone!" Zayden answered with a smile.

Ziana's eyes grew wider as she looked at the shattered phone and then at the nightstand where she had placed her phone earlier.

So she just broke her own phone? Her precious baby she bought last month on sale?

She immediately squatted down and looked at the pieces. Her screen was completely broken and she regretted not using a different cover so that she could recognize it. She wanted to show off for a few days and chose a transparent cover, but look how badly it was broken now.

Ziana gritted her teeth and looked at the bastard responsible for all this mess. How dare he touch her phone without her permission? No. How dare he manipulate her to break her own phone?!

"Why did you touch my phone?"

"Because I felt so."

"You son of a duck!"

"How can you do this to me?" Ziana screamed out in frustration.

"I didn't ask you to break your phone." Zayden innocently replied and his smirk throbbed every vein in Ziana's body.

"You did it at your own will." He continued and her fists curled up.

"Now take the soup from here." He pointed to the food tray and her fists tightened. "It smells disgusting."

Such insane audacity! She needed to punch him right now.

"And don't think of doing anything stupid again. I don't mind it but your mom would be displeased." Zayden smirked again. Those damn lips needed to be stitched forever!

"Take it away, quickly." He ordered but Ziana stood in her spot. She wanted to see if he really had the guts to call her mother.

"Will you move?"

"Alright, I will call her." Zayden mumbled as Ziana stubbornly stared at him. No, she was tired of playing the maid role for him.

Zayden dialed her mother's number and put it on the speaker. With all the sweet memories they shared recently, he understood her very well and prepared his weapons. And her mother was a grenade he could throw at her anytime. She would instantly get on her knees and beg for mercy. He thought and smiled at her.

"Hello." Ziana finally came out of her rage when she heard her mother's voice. Fear filled her veins overtaking the anger boiling in her blood as she imagined her miserable future.

"Hi, Aunty. This is Zayden. Your daughter's hus,"

Ziana snatched his phone and warily pressed the red icon multiple times. A sigh escaped her lips when the call ended and she glared at the annoying man.

"Are you crazy?"

"You make me go crazy, sweetheart."

But before she could chew him alive, her mother called again and Ziana panicked in horror.

"Shit!" She cut the call and texted an apology message to her number. And before she could block her out, Zayden snatched back his phone.

"Go make me a cup of coffee."

"No, wait!" An ideal replacement came to his mind and he smiled. "Get me your credit card."

"Huh. Sorry, I won't."

"Let me ask Aunt Norah instead." He pressed the dial-pad again and Ziana rushed to her cupboard.

Searching for her wallet, she took her card and hurried to him. Throwing it on the bed, she sneered but obeyed his order.

"Good! Now take this tray away from here."

"You are free to relax until my next command." Zayden said with a sweet smile as she picked up the tray.

Ziana sneered at him and walked out of the room. Throwing the tray into the sink, she took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down.

Wait! Why was she even afraid of her mom? She wouldn't probably kill her for stabbing someone.

No, she would rather throw her out of the house. And Ziana did not wish to live on the streets.

"Wait, I should ask indirectly about it." Ziana mumbled and slipped her hand inside her pocket.

Reality hit her hard when she remembered the scene earlier. How could she shatter her own phone?

"Arghhh! God! Kill me already!"

The poor girl groaned in frustration. She cried scratching her head and huffed out loud.

But how could she live without a phone? And that thought made her scream again.

Zayden heard her cries and smiled in glee. He quickly added her card details to the app and scrolled through different restaurants.

He was her husband legally. So he had all the rights to leach off her wealth.

An hour later.

"Your order is here."

"Your delivery is here."

"You have a delivery."

"Mam, your order is here."

Ziana slumped on the couch and heaved a long sigh. This creature was causing chaos again and she was exhausted from delivering his food to him.

And what hurt her the most were the bills she received on every single order. This useless piglet was spending her money like water and her heart mourned every penny she had saved all these months.

"Get me some water!"

She heard him call her again and sighed out loud. Walking to the kitchen, she took a glass and turned to the sink to pour some tap water.

No, he rather deserved poison but unfiltered water was all she could offer him.

'God, please give him diarrhea!' She prayed walking towards her room.

Her face cringed at the sight of boxes scattered on her bed. Most of the food was barely touched, and she gritted her teeth in anger.

"Here!"

Zayden took the glass and smiled at her. He sipped the water and later took a bite of his croissant.

"Oh, you can have the leftovers." He suggested taking another bite.

"I am sure you must be hungry." And his innocent face stirred anger in her stomach.

"No, thank you!" Ziana snapped out before leaving the room.

This bastard will pay for it! One day, she would peel his skin off and throw him to crocodiles.

---

Next morning.

Ziana groaned in her sleep as someone pulled her blanket. She tucked inside again and turned around

"Get up!" The familiar voice made her frown, but she was too tired to open her eyes.

That crazy psychopath had ruined her entire day and even made her sleep in her brother's room yesterday. And even if the cyclone hits her house, she would play dead.

"My dear sister, mom will kick your ass if you don't wake up." Ivan-her little brother grumbled again and pulled out her sheets.

"Let me sleep, Ivie!" Ziana grumbled and lay on her stomach.

"No! Go sleep in your room." Ivan grumbled again and dragged her leg trying to pull her out of the bed.

Ziana woke up and groaned in irritation. She sat up on the bed and stared at her annoying brother.

Wait! What was he doing here?

Jumping down from the bed, she blinked and looked at him in horror. Laughter echoed outside the room and a deep chill ran down her spine.

That was her mother! No one could laugh worse than her.

With panic written all over her face, Ziana rushed downstairs like a mad woman. And her eyes popped out when she saw Zayden happily chatting with his mother.

This must be a nightmare!

Ziana thought and rubbed her eyes. She blinked a few times and looked at the scene again. And her eyes widened when her mother stared at her. Her almond-brown eyes sent glares in her direction that made her gulp hard.

Yes, she would die soon!

Norah got up from her seat and Ziana shivered in delight. Her mother walked in her direction and she wished to run away.

This jerk would have told another sad story about getting bullied by her. She was sure about it! Her eyes glared at the man sipping his tea clamorously before moving back to her mother.

"I-I can explain." She stuttered, falling weak at her intense stare.

"Explain what?" Norah stood a few steps away from her daughter and crossed her arms. "That how you hurt this poor guy?"

"No, you basically stabbed him." Her stern voice made Ziana shiver.

She glared at Zayden who was enjoying the entertainment. This bloody creature needed to stitch his lips once and for all.

"Or explain how you got married to him?"

Ziana gasped, her soul finally leaving her body in response to her question.
