Chapter 15: MY WIFE

I felt my heart pounding as I saw Landon approaching me. I didn't know what to expect from him. I just knew that I couldn't let him close to me again, not after what had happened. He had bullied me so much, and I wasn't ready to let him do it again.

"What do you want, Landon?" I asked, my voice shaky with fear and anger.

He looked at me with his unapologetic gaze. "I'm sorry," he said, his voice barely a whisper.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Was that regret in his eyes? I asked myself. I wasn't sure if he was trying to make amends, or if he had some other ulterior motive.

"Yes, he replied taking a step closer but I took another step backwards.

Stop! I don't know what you're up to this time around but...please... Just stay away from me," I said, with pleading eyes.

"But..." he started to say, but then he noticed the ring on my finger. "You're married?!" he exclaimed.

"It's none of your business!" I responded dismissively.

"I thought you were hospitalized or something, and you show up with a ring on your finger?" he spat, his eyes showing jealousy.

"And whose fault was it? Yours! You landed me in the hospital," I reminded him.

"Scarlett," he said my name softly, and I felt a pang of pain in my heart.

"Just leave me alone, Landon. I don't need more of your bullying. Please..." I begged, feeling exhausted.

He pulled his hands into a tight fist, and then he walked away without saying another word. I took in a relieved sigh, knowing that I had made the right decision to keep him at bay.

I couldn't help but think about the ring on my finger. It reminded me of the man I had fallen in love with, in just a short period. I had found my soulmate, and I wasn't going to let anyone else come between us. I trust Mav so much, last night made me trust him completely and I swear he'll be my first no matter what happens

IN CLASS

The classroom was abuzz with excitement and anticipation as we all settled in for yet another session with our teacher. Mr. Jackson was a strict but knowledgeable teacher, and we were always eager to learn from him. As we waited for him to arrive.

Finally, the door to the classroom opened, and Mr. Jackson strode in, his eyes scanning the room to take stock of who was in attendance. He walked to his desk, pulling out his lesson plan and clearing his throat before addressing us.

"Good morning, class!" he said in a firm but friendly voice.

"Good morning, Sir," we chorused back.

"So, where did we end in our last class?" he asked, throwing the question at us.

There was a moment of hesitation as we all wracked our brains, trying to remember the specifics of our previous lesson.

"Well... We were on the procedure for boarding a flight at the airport," I responded.

Suddenly, Mr. Jackson's attention was diverted to someone else in the classroom.

"Oh, Mrs Park! You came today. How are you feeling now?" he asked, his concern evident.

My face burned with embarrassment as all eyes turned to me, wondering who Mrs. Brooks was. I had to admit, I felt a little annoyed that he had addressed me by the wrong name. But, I had to stay composed and maintain my professional demeanour.

"It felt awkward...I'm fine sir," I responded meekly.

I could hear muffled sounds from around me, and I knew that my classmates were talking about me and wondering why Mr. Jackson had called me by a different name. However, I didn't want the attention, and I hoped that the incident would be forgotten quickly.

As I tried my best to focus on the lesson, I carelessly met Landon's gaze, who was sitting next to me. To my surprise, he had an annoyed look on his face, as if someone had just pissed him off. I didn't know what to make of his reaction, but I tried to avoid looking in his direction for the rest of the session.

"Well...That's good to know. It's great having you back!" Mr. Jackson said, pulling me back to reality.

"Thank you, Sir," I responded, hoping that this awkward moment would be quickly forgotten so we could get on with the lesson.

SOMEWHERE IN TOWN

The atmosphere was tense as Mr Park sat with Mr Maracigan. The clinking of silverware was the only sound in the room, creating an awkward silence as neither man spoke. Finally, Maracigan spoke up.

"So how's married life treating you?" he asked casually, trying to break the ice.

But his words seemed to have the opposite effect. Mr. Park's face contorted in disinterest as he rose to his feet.

"If that's why you called for a meeting then I'm leaving!" he exclaimed.

"Mr. Park, please calm down," pleaded Mr. Maracigan.

"Focus on the meeting else I'll leave!" warned Mr. Brooks, his eyes flashing with barely concealed fury.

Reluctantly, Mr. Maracigan shifted his focus. "Fine. I'm here to apologize on my daughter's behalf. She did you wrong by showing up at your engagement..."

But before Mr. Maracigan could finish, Mav interrupted. "Is that why you called for this meeting? If that's the case, then I'm leaving!"

"Mr. Pa..." started Mr. Maracigan, reaching out to stop him from leaving.

But it was too late. Mav had already made up his mind. "Tell your daughter...the next time she screws up, I'll be having her head for dinner," he warned, his face void of any emotions.

With that, he stormed out of the restaurant, leaving Mr. Maracigan alone to contemplate what had just happened. It was clear that the rift between the two men had only been widened, and it was all his daughter's fault.

MARACIGAN'S POV

Delauress had to be the most stubborn person I knew! I had warned her countless times to leave that man alone and steer clear of his drama, but she wouldn't listen. She was determined to chase after a man as dark as hell.

Suddenly, the guards interrupted my thoughts. "Boss? Your daughter is here!"

Looking up, my eyes met Delauress's troubled gaze. "What are you doing here?" I asked her, trying to keep my temper in check.

"I heard you were with Mav..." she began.

I couldn't hold back any longer. "You never quit, do you?!" I yelled at her, infuriated by her stubbornness. "I'm always cleaning up your mess! Why can't you grow up for once?!"

"Dad..." she tried to speak, but I cut her off.

"I said shut up!" I barked. "You never listen to me, and now you show up here, causing even more trouble. When will you start taking responsibility for your actions?!"

Delauress stayed silent, and I knew my words had hit their mark. I was tired of constantly bailing her out of trouble and watching her make poor decisions. It was time for her to grow up and start taking control of her life.

This will make me lose millions! He barked walking out of the restaurant.
