Chapter 5: Hunters Town
Max pulled out his dagger, and aimed it at the two men which are now moving extremely close to them.
One of them sees this, and backs up, while the other one seems determined to attack them.
The one who is determined to attack Max is about to leap up with his sword, aiming at Max's shoulder.
Max doesn't even have time to realize what it is that he remembers, as the man moves in very quickly towards him.
The man brings his sword down hard towards Max's shoulder, hoping to get the stab in just right.
A girl with scythe blocks the attack, the man is surprised by the sudden appearance of this new stranger.
He stumbles back in shock, and Max notices that the girl wields an extremely sharp looking scythe!
She points it directly at the man, as an obvious warning to not attempt any sudden movements towards Max or Luna.
She turns to Max and says, "Don't move! Or I'll cut you up."
Max can sense the amount of magical aura coming from the girl.
She continues to point her scythe at Max, as he stare back at her in wonder.
She then starts to get frustrated with Max's silent response, and asks him this question.
"Are you not afraid of dying?" she asks this question with a very intimidating and serious tone of voice.
"Dying? no... I'm used to many hunters hunting me, so bye bye."
In one swift motion, Max manage to grab Luna and run off with her. At this point, the hunter is not very far behind them.
She is still continuing to pursue Max, and is gaining ground.
She continues to threaten with her scythe as Max makes his escape.
"This takes me back when my mom is chasing me!"
Max can tell that this comment from him only makes the girl more angrier. She then tries to stab him in the back with her scythe.
Max barely manages to avoid the stab, as he continue running away from her.
Max quickly tells Luna to hold tight, as he plan to perform a magic spell. He says this just as the hunter is getting VERY close to them.
Max cast a large spray of water and strikes the hunter straight in the face.
The water strikes her extremely forcefully, knocking her back very hard and causing her to fall flat on her back, It also causes her to drop her scythe.
After knocking the hunter down, they decide it is now the perfect time to run.
Max starts to run off with Luna in his arms as quickly as possible. The hunter is just getting up, and by this point the hunter can no longer see them.
Max starts to feel relief wash over him as he and Luna now walk through the streets of the town which he is familiar with.
Luckily, they managed to escape that dangerous situation and both of them are unharmed.
"We... we should probably find a way to get out."
Luna's words suddenly strike him. He can't believe he wasn't thinking about that before.
"We probably should... this place brings back bad memories."
His mind and thoughts are now racing as he hold Luna's hand and start running as quickly as possible to this mysterious alleyway. His heart rate speeds up as he start to panic.
He and Luna start to finally slow down as they enter the dark alleyway.
"Why are you sweating?"
"I can't tell you!"
He desperately holds back what he is going to say to Luna.
It would be a serious mistake to tell her anything about his situation. He needs to keep his past a secret from Luna.
Now, what do you do in the alleyway. She looks at him, confused and concerned.
She now wants to know what he is hiding.
He begins to rush around the alleyway, desperately searching for the secret passage which he once knew.
"D*mn it! where is it?!"
His mind is racing, as he tries his best to calm himself down and look as carefully as he can.
Luckily, he do manage to find that secret passage after a couple minutes.
Just moments after finding the secret passage, he and Luna run through it and escape from the hunters.
He begins to start zoning out as he is running, and he start to get very sweaty from the physical exertion it is taking to run this fast.
Luna tells him from behind, "You look like your going to pass out!"
"Am I? Then we need-...."
As he is saying this to Luna, he is starting to notice his vision going blurry, and then he can feel himself passing out and blacking out as he collapse to the ground, completely unconscious.
The last thing he remembers is Luna dragging him.
Next thing he knows, he start to be surrounded by the warm white light of a healing spell which is slowly bringing him back to consciousness.
When he fully recovered from the healing spell, he finds himself in a new room he's still extremely tired from the run with the hunters right behind them.
He takes in his surroundings and what is happening around him.
He find himself in a large and comfortable-looking room made entirely out of stone.
This is definitely not where he were before.
He noticed that he is covered in bandages, even though he doesn't have any visible injuries on his body.
He also starts to notice that a large amount of his magic has been drained from him.
The magic is very much like life force to him, and it will take him at least a couple hours, maybe a day, for him to fully recover his mana.
"Where's Luna?"
"Your friend is right over there in the corner, sleeping." An old woman opens the door.
The old woman turns her head to the corner of the room, and Max see that Luna is asleep in a pile of blankets.
She appears to be completely exhausted from all the running the two of them did earlier today.
The old woman looks at Max with a very kind and reassuring face. It feels like she is a sort of motherly figure.
"You are in my home, child." she says to you.
Max notices that a couple hours have passed during his unconsciousness, and the night has now taken hold of the world outside the large house.
