Chapter 9: Cain
Max walks up towards the man, who is laying on his couch.
The man stopped playing around with the couch, as he turned his attention to Max. He continues to stare at Max in a silent manner while he waits to hear what Max has to say.
"What's your name?" Max ask.
The man takes several moments to think, as he is once again trying to think of what to say.
After some time, he raises his head towards Max and says, "My name is Cain..."
Max then asks Cain where he is from, as he wants to get to know a bit more about him.
"I see... then Cain where are you from?"
Cain decides to be a bit more open with his answers, as he decides to share a little more with Max. Max notices that Cain answers are fairly straightforward.
Cain responds back towards Max, "I'm from Hell..."
"Hell?!! What?!!" Max is somewhat surprised when he hears Cain answer back. Max was a little bit confused when Cain said that he is from Hell, as Max thought that Cain was being literal.
Cain then adds, "Not literally from hell... just the name of a kingdom..."
Max can tell that Luna had the same thoughts as he, when she heard Cain say that originally, as Max can hear her sigh in relief when Cain starts to explain.
As Max listens to what Cain has to say, he then nods his head and says, "I understand that..."
Cain then goes on to say, "I also think that the name of our Kingdom is a little bit frightening..."
He seems to be admitting to the fact that he knows there is a scary and evil feeling about his country as Max can tell Cain is being quite honest with his answers.
"Can you explain why you are two months old? Because your body and little bit of your mind seems mature."
One of Cain's eyebrows raises slightly on his face, as he seems a bit confused by what Max is asking.
He decides to try and answer Max's question, as he realizes that the answer that Max is expecting is very different from what he is going to say.
He then responds towards Max by saying, "I'm two months old because my growth is accelerated.... That is why... I'm a bit mature."
He seems to be trying to be direct with Max, and to not beat around the bush.
"Wait... What is your race?"
Cain thinks about this question, as Max can see Cain is trying to figure out what he should tell Max.
He ultimately decides to tell him a basic truth, as he replies back towards Max by saying, "I'm a humanoid..."
He then adds, "I feel like I should tell you more, but this is something I'm not allowed to tell...."
Max can tell that Cain feels somewhat nervous with what he has to say, especially since it is clear that he is hiding some of the truth away from him.
"I'm not going to ask you more personal questions, just answer this one, what are you doing in the lake?"
Max is surprised when Cain responds back by saying that he is lost.
He was expecting his question to be answered with some sort of diplomatic answer, or for Cain to try and dodge this question.
Instead, Cain is being surprisingly transparent, and just admits to the fact that he is lost. He also doesn't seem like he is trying to lie either.
"I see... You know what? I don't care anymore, make yourself comfortable, I'm tired"
Max finds this response slightly funny, as he was not expecting Cain to respond back in this way.
Max watches as Cain looks around the house and looks like he is picking a spot to sit down and sleep.
He also grabs at the couch that he has been playing with earlier, as he uses this couch to be the spot where he can rest.
He lays back down on the couch, and then closes his eyes. He then starts to make soft snoring sounds as he goes to sleep.
"What a strange guy... Luna there's a pair of clothes in my room that you can change, that cloak you're wearing is starting to smell bad"
Luna looks back towards him in this comment.
She seems to understand the reason why he said what he did, as she can tell that she has noticed the smell of her cloak for some time.
She also seems to have taken what he said with humor, as she decides to nod her head and says towards Max, "I'll change in there" while she points towards Max's room.
She then walks towards Max room.
Max decides to head towards the bathroom to take a shower, as he want to start to freshen up his body.
Before he leaves, he decide to check on Cain's status first.
As he exits the living room, he can hear Cain snoring loudly as he sleeps on the couch. He seems to be dead asleep as he starts to curl up a bit while he is sleeping.
After he takes a shower, he goes to his room and prepares a mat.
He grabbed a mat from inside his room and prep it as he lay it down on the floor.
Max then tell Luna that she can have the bed tonight, as he plan to rest on the mat.
She decides to reply back to Max by saying, "Alright, thanks."
She then crawls up into the bed and lays down to start resting.
After making the mat and laying down onto it, He quickly slip into a very comfortable sleep. It does not take long before he begin to have pleasant dreams.
Time quickly starts to pass by as he rests, and before long, he starts to feel a bit hungry when he stir awake. He wake up as the sun starts to come out.
The sun has started to rise as it shines through the window.
As he lay awake for a moment, he notices that Luna is still sleeping, as she is lying down in the bed. he leaves the room and starts heading towards the kitchen.
he passed by the living room where he saw Cain still snoring in his sleep, as he is now starting to roll over to the side.
