Chapter 20: Ace Kingdom
It's been six days since the fight with the orcs, after the fight they rest for a day to recover the mana that they lost in the fight. They set out at night, train Luna in the morning then set out at night, they do the same routine until they reach the final town before they reach the Ace Kingdom
Max is walking, he's sweating hard from the heat, he's so tired from the long walk, a red slime pops out inside of his shirt and jumps on his head.
"Oh buddy! feeling hot too?" The slime nods, "We're separated from them, My mission is to clear my name, their mission is to train Luna so I'm walking my own path."
Max seems sad but he needs to do this, if he traveled with them, his criminal record would make them part of it as his partners in crime. He's now on the border of the Kingdom, there are many guards guarding the entrance, he just needs to come up to the guards and surrender, but he needs to make sure his new friend slime makes it safely.
He grabs the slime on his head and speaks to it, "Listen here buddy... you're going to get inside the kingdom and find my friend Leila, she's a girl, not so tall, yellow hair, green eyes, and always wearing a round glass. She's not so hard to find since she's always wandering around the kingdom, give this letter to her got it?" The slime nods and smiles.
Max pats the slime and throws it through the kingdom border. Max continues to walk towards the entrance, he's ready to surrender himself to clear his name, it may take a few days for the king to decide whether to execute him for his crimes or let him go clearing his name. Max walks towards one of the guards, the guard is shocked to see this and points his spear at Max, "You! you're the wanted criminal! Max Lifesteal!" the other guards hear this and start running towards Max with their spear ready.
Max raises his hands up and says, "I surrender," all the guards stop in shock, they are shocked because this is the first time a wanted criminal surrender without giving a fight, one of the guards slowly walks up to Max and puts a handcuff on Max's hands.
"Don't worry... I won't fight back..." Max says, there's a chill tone in his voice, the guards are still cautious about this and calls a carriage to carry a cage here, after a few minutes of waiting, a carriage that is carrying a cage finally comes, they put Max in the cage and two guards escort the carriage back to the castle.
On their way, many people saw Max in the cage, "Is that the guy?" one man said, "Yeah! execute him!" another man adds, Max is not shocked by this, he knew this would happen.
After trying to kill the King he knew this would happen. They finally made it to the castle gate, the guards opened it, they opened Max cage and told him to follow them, Max followed them to the throne room, there the king was sitting on his throne, the guard slammed Max on the floor to bow his head.
"So you turn yourself in?" The King stands up, "I don't know why you did it but it's a serious crime to try and assassinate me, even you! know that..."
Max doesn't talk and just looks at the King, "Not going to talk? alright the court will decide whether to execute you or let you go..." The King sits on his throne again, "Bring him to the cell!" The guards grab Max's arms and drag him, Max glares at the King, he's looking at the King like he wants to kill him.
The guard threw him in the cell and left, Max sat in the corner of the cell and started to say, "D*mn it! I swear I'm gonna kill that old man!"
After an hour, a girl wearing a white dress comes in front of Max cell, "So they caught you?" the girl said, her tone is serious, Max speaks up, "caught me? more like I turn myself in..."
"You know... we used to love each other, but it ended when you tried to kill my father..." The girl said.
Max stands up, he walks towards the girl and speaks up, "He killed my father!" Max shouts. There's a pain in his voice, "You know... I came here to clear my name... but it looks like it's not gonna happen..."
The girl speaks up, "We were supposed to get married... but you tried to kill my father the day before the wedding..." Tears start to fall from the girl's eyes. "Now... I'm getting married to a guy who I didn't even know because my father wants me to..."
"Wait what?" Max is surprised, "Why the hell would he force you to marry a guy who you don't even know?"
"It's... because... I need to have a child to keep our bloodline going..." The girl said, she is crying now, "I... I still love you Max! but it looks like we're not meant to be together..."
In the courtroom, there were many people sitting, they all wore fancy clothes, The King was standing in the middle, this is where he will decide whether to execute Max or let him go. "Now my fellow noble! I will ask you again! Execute Max or let him go?!" They shout, "Execute him! Execute him!" Then one noble speaks up, "He tried to kill you! don't let him go!"
The King speaks up and says, "Very well! we will execute him at the execution ground tomorrow morning!" The King then claps his hands two times and all the nobles start to stand up and leave the courtroom. The King walks towards the door, and leaves the room, he goes to the bathroom and wash his hands.
