Chapter 6: Protecting Rhiannon
“Rhi!” My sister cried out before slamming into me hugging me tightly, Alex finial stands up making sure to kick Nathan in the balls, he groans out in pain, “Keep your pants on Alex, I’m fucking leaving that child is not worth it, the silly bitch.” Nathan snapped as he stood up rubbing out the pain in his balls, my brother flexed his body glaring at him, “Piss off now!” Alex roared out, and Nathan took off fast.
Once Alex couldn’t see Nathan anymore he turned around looking at me I can see so much anger on his face but also sadness and guilt he walks towards me slowly watching my every move before slamming into me and holding me tightly. Which is a very tight hug as I’m only five-six in height and he is six-nine in height, “I’m so sorry Rhi Rhi.” Alex whispers, I cried harder into my brother’s chest, “No, I’m so sorry Lex, I should have listened to you.” I whispered, “No Rhi, I’m sorry should have found you sooner.” He said not listening to me, “Alex it’s not your fault. It’s all mine I said yes for him to take me back here I never stopped him until he got rough, I’ve only got myself to blame.” I whispered.
“No Rhiannon it’s neither of you guys’ fault the fault is always on Nathan no one else just him,” Charlotte said loudly, Alex lifts up his arm pulling Charlotte into the hug we all held onto each other tightly. Alex leans back fast in fear, “Shit Rhi did he hurt you? Are you hurt? Where are you hurt?” He asked sounding very worried, “May have some marks unsure he was too forceful and was strangling me.” I whispered I see the difference in his face within seconds, “I should have hurt him more then.” He growled out, “Please, it’s all my fault can we just don’t.” I begged my brother, we all held hands and made our way back up to our rooms where we all spent the night in the same bed cuddling up to each other like we did when we were younger making a promise that we do not tell mum and dad about what had happened unless they can see the marks on me which I can only just see, so we are hoping they don’t notice it either. I do regret what I had done, I now understand why my brother is the way he is with me but I do love how close we are, I never want our closeness to die down.
Loud banging filled the room, and we all groaned out, the banging continued, “Adult children rise and shine, not saying it again!” Dad’s voice snapped as he opened the adjoining room door, “Arghh go away, father!” Charlotte yelled out, Alex laughed at Charlotte’s response, “I’m up now!” Alex said loudly, “Charlotte!” Dad snapped as he stood in the room looking at us all, Charlotte looked at dad in shock, “What? I have only said what the other two have said to you before!” She snapped, “That doesn’t mean you copy young lady!” Dad snapped, and I groaned throwing the blankets over my head, “Garhh it’s too early for this shit!” I grumbled, mum calls out from their room, “Is everyone up, dressed, and packed?” Mum called out, “Trying to get them up and moving, I honestly thought when they were teenagers was hard, young adults are worse babe!” Dad called back to her.
Twenty minutes later all of us are finally dressed and ready, I do love mum’s sense of fashion she is wearing a black singlet, with a black and white striped long skirt, brown leather shoes and handbags and her favourite jewellery from dad. Dad is casual as usual wearing blue jean shorts with a dark blue t-shirt with white shoes, he looks upset that he is waiting for us kids to get dressed. Charlotte is channelling mum today wearing a black singlet with olive green short shorts, a white cameo with black and white feather prints, and brown leather shoes. Seems Alex is doing the same as Charlotte, instead he has long light blue jeans with rips at the knees and a grey t-shirt, and white shoes. Then there is me going bright today wearing a frilly teal blue singlet with short jean shorts and thongs, I wanted something bright today to try and hide the shitty night we all had.
We all checked out while waiting for dad to finish it off I climbed into the driver seat, “Well let’s see our new home shell we?” I asked not realising that dad was next to me, “Get out I’m driving.” He leaned in and whispered it in my ear, I groaned out, “Fine.” I mumbled, I raced around the other side and got into the front passenger seat, while mum, and my siblings all get into the back, dad looks around “We are all in?” He asked we all replied yes to him, the car ride was very quiet due to all of us kids not getting much sleep last night.
“Well did you three get up to mischief last night?” Mum asked loudly, “Nothing that we normally don’t do.” Charlotte answered mum, and mum scoffed, “Well if the other two had said that I would believe them, but you young lady normally behaves. So what happened?” Mum asked. “Maybe I’m changing, a big move, a new city, new people, time for a new me. Become more like my twin sister and big brother.” Charlotte said happily, I could hear Alex groaning behind me, “Oh dear lord.” He said under his breath. “Whooohooo! About time sis! But please only in the party part please.” I told her, and she just smiled at me, “That is all I want to do mum, is just dance.” Charlotte said, “Few kiddo, don’t give your old man a heart attack, we have two wild children we do not need three.” Dad said.
“What? I’m a good person!” Alex cried out, “What? I’m mostly well behaved, more so than Alex.” I said, “Gez guys it was a joke, a bad joke.” Dad said laughing at our shocked cries. “Nice cover babe no one noticed at all,” Mum said while the rest of us started laughing. “And we are here,” Dad said dragging out the and longer than it needed to be.
