Chapter 7: REVENGE

Meanwhile, somewhere in the forests of Alyscara,a state under the Fae empire ,
"My Lady,it is done.The Royal family has finally been wiped out "a brown haired witch reported to his mistress as he bowed his head.
"Hmm,go tell Irene that her mother wishes to speak with her"Evelyne said as she dismissed the witch signalling him to leave with her hands."Yes,my Lady"the witch said before he finally turned to leave the room.
After he left, Evelyne stood up to face the mirror,"Finally,I got my revenge"
*******Flashback*******
"Why did we stop?", Evelyne asked as she came down from the carriage."My lady,one of the carriage's hind wheels seems to be broken"the coachman reported to his Mistress whom after hearing the news looked like she was going to have a fit.
"Then hurry and fix it,we are running out of time"Evelyne said impatiently. "Yes,my Lady", the coachman said as he took out the spare wheel from the back of the carriage and started working on it.
The sun was hot and standing there was not going to be easy but Evelyne had no choice but to bear it.
Today,the king was hosting a ball in honour of the return of the Crown prince Ezekiel Hades and there was no way that she would miss it.She had to get the prince's attention.'Just wait,once I get married to the prince and I become this kingdom's Queen,I'll make incompetent servants like you know your place' She thought to her self with a small smile on her face.
The prince had just returned from war only a few weeks ago and his father,the king decided to host the party in honor of his return and also to find a suitable bride.
"My lady, we're done "the coach man's words pulled her out of her reverie "Hurry up, we have to get to the Palace as soon as possible "Evelyne said as she boarded the carriage and the coachman started the horses.
Evelyne arrived at the palace with determination in her eyes, she would use all means possible to make sure that the prince was her's.
She had it all beauty, brains, class, status and elegance and she would do anything to achieve her goals.
The palace although was modestly designed and well furnished,it's every nook and cranny screamed royalty.The palace halls also didn't disappoint,it's interiors were lavishly designed and you could see the royal crest of the faeries above the King's throne, although ancient as it had been passed through many generations,it was as shiny as ever.And embedded in it were two figures holding the Elven star,the two figures that were seen on the crest represented the first light fae King and the first Queen of the dark ages. It symbolized the unification of both the dark and light faes .
As she entered,hushed voices could be heard."Look,the daughter of the duke of Kriilam has arrived"one lady said to her friends,"She's just here to steal the spotlight. Nevermind,she can never measure up to you"another said,"She can never be as beautiful as you"the last one said as they all tried to suck up to the lady in their midst who didn't seem at all concerned with what they were busy discussing,Elena Savior, the daughter of the Duke of Iscaria,the state in which the royal palace of the Fae empire was situated.
"You can leave",Elena said as she dismissed her so-called friends.She stood there for a while and had only moved a few steps from her original position when she heard some girls by her side talking about someone which caught her interest.
"You see, the first daughter of the duke of Kriilam hasn't arrived yet"the first lady said,"I don't think she would be coming any time soon, the party's almost starting"the second lady said."Probably the rumors were right"the last one said,"What rumors?"the first lady asked,"Haven't you heard?,the first daughter of the duke decided to go out fishing in the river near the forest and she got bitten by a snake,now she's on bed rest"the last lady replied."She acts so unladylike and immature"the first one commented.
' Fishing?'Elena asked herself as she approached Evelyne who was talking with some ladies."Excuse me, ladies"she said as she dragged Evelyne with her.She only stopped only when they were away from the hungry ears of people.
"Where's Diane?, And what are those rumors about her ?"Elena asked as she crossed her hands in front of her chest. Although Evelyne and Diane were sisters,they were only step sisters and the only relation binding them was their parents. Diane's father was Evelyne's step father while Evelyne's mother was Diane's step mother.
Diane lost her mother when she was just an infant and till the age of ten,she was raised by her father who later got married to Evelyne's mother. Evelyne's mother was good to Diane and she treated her well like her own daughter but Evelyne,she treated Diane like everyone else. She didn't hate her but she also didn't like her so it was difficult to tag Evelyne as either a friend or a foe.
"You dragged me all the way here for this?, Evelyne asked as she arched an eyebrow then without any intention to answer,she turned to leave only taking a step when Elena held her arm and pulled her back. "What?, Did you expect me to threaten you?,To tell you to stay away from the prince?"She said as she gave a sardonic smile.
"We both know that if Diane was here,you…"Evelyne scoffed as she cut Elena's sentence short"Don't even try comparing me to that klutz"She turned to walk out, after taking some steps,she paused as if wanting to say something,she stood there for some seconds then she left leaving Elena who stood still in her position with an unfathomable expression on her face.
