Chapter 3: WRONG SIDE OF THE BED
The next morning, Valeria woke up having headache, she couldn't sleep well from thinking about Dennis last night, she felt offended and disappointed because he did not text as promised and also didn't pick her call. This morning she has hope of hearing from him, she pick up her phone which was right next to her bed to check if he has called, once again she was disappointed, he hasn't even called nor text. Valeria who is a girl full of positivity felt that probably he has been so busy since last night or was too tired from the date he went with his mother. She gets up from the bed and say her self-motivation and prayer before going to the kitchen to clean the whole house because no one could clean yesterday after the congratulatory party. She walked to the kitchen and saw her brother James who was already cleaning the kitchen, she wasn't surprised since that is how James is he would never leave any chores for someone. He believes what is worth doing should be done at the right time.
"Good morning James"Valeria greeted.
"Good morning Valeria"James greeted with a smile.
"You shouldn't be doing this James you should have left it for me"Valeria said not feeling comfortable seeing him doing what she's meant to do.
"You're still in your celebrating mood so you should rest and do nothing"James replied laughing.
"Funny! That ended yesterday and today is a new day"Valeria said still not having it.
"Why don't you just shower and go to Alexis and Daisy's place you need to thank them for yesterday"James suggested knowing he won't even win against her
"I don't feel like going out today Alexis and Daisy can be in their house while I stay in mine"Valeria replied feeling annoyed.
"Seems someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed"Benedict who they didn't notice has been there said.
"I think so, she's not happy"Albert replied walking into the kitchen.
"Why are you all over me? Who woke up on the wrong side of the bed?"Valeria asked angrily
"Did someone break your heart or something Valeria?"Francis asked feeling confused.
"Enough of all this! You can see she's not in a good mood"James stepped in
"Oh sorry, we were all just trying to help, what if something is wrong and we don't know. Is it a guy?"Francis asked looking at the pissed girl.
"Francis!"Albert cautioned
"What? I was just trying to help"Francis said and left the kitchen angrily.
"You go do your chores, staying here is annoying me"James said and they left leaving only Valeria and James in the kitchen.
"Hey sweet sister, it doesn't worth your thinking just let it be"James said smiling.
"It's fine, I will just shower, I guess I overreacted and I'm sorry"Valeria replied and leave the kitchen.
James wonders what could be wrong, he has never seen her like this even when she's angry, she tries to be friendly with others. He shrug it off since she said she overreacted and continue washing the dishes.
After leaving the kitchen, Valeria felt so bad, she felt like she overreacted and overdid everything that happened in the kitchen, they were all just trying to help. Who could have thought Dennis would affect her this much? She lay on her bed to think about what could be wrong, why didn't he call or text her? He didn't even pick her calls or return them either. While in this thought her phone beeped and it was Dennis.
"Hi baby" Dennis greeted from the other side of the call
"I've been trying to call you since yesterday you didn't even return my calls or text me, what's wrong?"Valeria asked trying to calm her anger.
"I'm so sorry honey, the date was so stressful you know how mum could be, she made me greet almost all the party attendees and there was nothing I could do about it, I'm so sorry."Dennis replied feeling sorry
"You know you could have texted that you won't be online tonight and the date was so stressful, I was so worried about you and kept calling but you didn't pick my calls and this morning I vented my anger on my brothers, you could have said something or even return my calls."Valeria said angrily
"Don't get angry at me honey, I'm so sorry the date was not any ordinary date, I'm not around right now I could not come back last night and I don't think I'm coming back, I will go from here to school, I'm so sorry you know I have exams next week, I'm really really sorry."Dennis explained
"So I won't be seeing you in the next one month, it's fine you can stay over for your exam but you shouldn't have done what you did last night, you could have just called back I was really really worried anyways how was the date?"Valeria said
"The date has to be a boring one and you know it's just adult stuffs and anyways I had a new friend, she's from school I've seen her multiple times but this the first time would be talking"Dennis replied
"Oh so you must have enjoyed it after having a conversation with her so what did you guys talk about and what's her name?"Valeria said feeling jealous.
"Yeah it was actually fun talking to her, you know being in a boring party and seeing your age-mate like your age group it was so nice talking to her, I can't even remember her name cause I don't think I asked her last night but I've seen her in school multiple times so if I should ask around and I will know who she is, she's just a one-night thing you know just keeping the moment"Dennis replied not sensing Valeria's jealousness.
"Oh that's great probably you should ask around she could be your friend you know since the moment was nice with her anyways how is your mum? Hope she enjoyed herself"Valeria said getting angrier at his response.
"I don't think I really want to be friends with her from last night, I don't know I just feel like she's just a casual person somebody I can just see and say hi and she would reply hello and also my mum obviously it's a party I was just there and the same girl was there for her dad cuz her mum is out of the country so she has to be her dad's plus one, you know how crazy it is going to a date with your parents, going to adult party it was more like a meeting so that's what it is."Dennis explained not sensing Valeria's anger.
"Okay that's fine I was just suggesting and there must have some really nice foods anyways the congratulatory party over here was also good, it was nice, everybody congratulated me and said a lot about me, they were asked to say something about me, Alexis and Daisy's speech was so short and all I could do was smile. You should have heard Benedict speech it was so emotional, it made me shed a tear."Valeria explained with so much joy.
"That's so sweet, I'm glad they did a congratulatory party for you"Dennis replied happily.
"I really wasn't expecting it but when I saw it I was really really really amazed and all I could do was shed tears, so emotional for me really emotional actually when they were saying one or two about me it was so sweet, and when I said mine at the end of the party I could not help but cry, James, Benedict, Albert and Francis are the best brother in the whole world and the only one male that won't hurt me regardless"Valeria said letting him know she's loved.
"Okay I think I can get where this is going to, I am really sorry Valeria, I shouldn't have done what I did yesterday, I won't hurt you too regardless but it happened yesterday so I'm sorry"Dennis replied getting her message.
"There's actually nothing to be sorry about, it's all in the past, as you enjoyed yourself yesterday with the new girl you know that's how I enjoyed myself with my family and friends, I wish you were here but it's fine since you are not here, I can't force you to be here when you have to be with your mum"Valeria said calmly
"So I haven't asked which university are you choosing because I'm really excited to know the University my baby girl is going to"Dennis replied ignoring Valeria's words.
"I thought you would never ask anyways I'm coming to University of Chicago, that's the university my father want me to go which automatically is your university, I really can't wait to be there"Valeria said happily
"Wow that's nice I didn't know you were going to choose my university but you are welcome baby girl, seeing you there is a big flex for me, the most beautiful girl I know coming to the University of Chicago"Dennis replied happily.
"Okay so we talk later right and that's if you're not busy, if you're no problem just read and pass your exams"Valeria said wanting to end the call.
"Okay dear, talk to you later. I love you baby girl"Dennis replied smiling.
"Okay sure"Valeria said before ending the call.
She sit up on her bed and thought of the conversation she just had with her best friend in disguise her boyfriend, how could he have forgotten about her last night and be with another girl, talking to a new girl to be precise.
