Chapter 20: Return to Earth, Reunion with Mother

"Yes!"
[[SYSTEM NOTIFICATION: Request Accepted. Taking Host back to Earth in 3… 2…]]
SHUAAAA!
Sam disappeared from his courtyard home in the Other World and then returned back to his apartment on Earth.
Everything was the same as he left it, except there was more dust on the table due to no one cleaning the apartment at all since Sam was away.
'Time to go out and pay rent!'
He first had a shower and wore some clothing he had bought prior to purchasing the apartment and began heading out to the first floor to meet with the receptionist who handles rent.
"Welcome, what can I do for you?" An elderly woman smiles and looks at Sam who smiles back and begins paying off his rent.
"You live with anyone?" She asks, to which Sam shakes his head before turning around and heading out.
"How rude! But how handsome of him! Sigh, if only my granddaughter could marry a man as handsome as this kid!" She sighs before continuing her work.
Sam walks out of the apartment complex and begins walking towards the nearest market. He wants to buy more necessitates for his home in case he doesn't come back for a long period of time.
But while walking, he discovers something that shocked him.
"Missing… Sam Landon? Landon? Could it be…?"
Sam looked at the poster which has his face from when he was a young party animal and realizes that his mother is looking for him now.
"Was it like this in the past?"
Sam who pondered realized that he might not have known, since he was homeless by the time and was already staying in the other world for months at a time, sometimes even longer when he was settled there.
'Mom… maybe in this life I can at least be by your side.'
He looked at the poster and found a phone number on the bottom to contact whoever issued the poster.
Sam then realized that he doesn't have a phone on him. His old phone he threw away alongside his ID before he went to the Other World so that no one in the Yong family could find him and terrorize him even more.
He began walking towards his original destination, the markets, to buy not only the necessities for his home but also a phone to contact his mother.
After a few hours, he finished his shopping and sat down on a bench near the market and stared at the sun setting.
He then called the number on the poster, and it was immediately picked up by a rough voice.
"You know where Sam Landon is?"
Straight to the point, but Sam knew that most of the men under his mother were retired soldiers and most had tough times handling social situations due to their upbringing.
"You are speaking to him, saw that my face was being shown around the area. Tell my mother that I'm alive and that she doesn't need to worry anymore."
"… Location?"
"The Bronco Markets near the ghetto."
"… Please hold the line."
Sam shook his head and chuckled as he heard the urgency from the rough voice on the other end.
'What should I say to her?'
It has been a long time since Sam saw her, and before he had slightly negative emotions toward his mother who he thought never looked after him when he was homeless in his past life.
But now? Knowing that she did look for him makes Sam feel loved in a way, something that he hasn't felt in a long time.
"We will be there in a few minutes to verify your identity. If it is you, young master… Madam will be very happy to hear you sound well."
"…" Sam hangs up the phone and sighs while staring at the sunset once more.
Earth.
Nearly ten years from now, it will be gone. Sam doesn't know why, or even how it happened. By the time Earth had been destroyed and everyone went to the Other World, he was already there, doing a random mission he was given. When he saw countless people from Earth suddenly appearing in town, he found out the news that Earth was gone.
'I have a year before the powerful families find the Other World. I have enough time I think.'
Sam wants to create a powerful kingdom in the Other World so that he doesn't ever feel pressured or threatened to do anything he doesn't want. He wants a haven where he can settle in the future and live till he is old, and for that to happen he must work hard for it now when he has the advantage.
Thirty minutes later, Sam heard a massive commotion from behind him. He turned around to see six black vans pop up near the park with a bunch of suited bodyguards standing around.
Sam knew it was the Landon Family, and stood up to walk toward them with a plastic bag of goods in his hand.
When Sam walked near the cars, a window began to lower and soon Sam came face to face with his mother for the first time in a very long time.
"… Mom." Sam looked at his mother who looked as beautiful as ever and smiled. Lia, Sam's mother who saw that quickly got out of the car and jumped to hug her son.
"Oh, Sam! You are safe!" Such a tight hug caught Sam off guard, but he soon wrapped his arms around his mother and hugged her bag.
"You look tired Sam, oh Mom is so sorry for what your father did to you. I will never forgive that scumbag!" She cries as she holds Sam tight, and Sam chuckles before slowly letting her go.
"You don't need to do anything to him, let's forget him and have dinner together." Sam wanted to say forget about him, he'll die alone anyways when Joseph takes over, but he doesn't want to make his mother think he is crazy for knowing the future.
"I called the family to have dinner at the Landon home. We will have dinner there, and you may speak to grandmother and all the uncles and aunties who searched tirelessly for you!"
Sam smiles and went into the car with his mom and headed towards Landon's home. He stared out the window and began to think about his plans, which is something he always does when he is alone.
"Son, are you okay?" Sam's mother woke him up from his thoughts and he turned towards her and nodded.
"I've been busy. Which is why you haven't been able to find me for so long, but everything is actually going really well for me right now."
"You… you changed Sam. You were so pompous, you'd never stop shouting at anything and everything and you always spoke to me with sweet words that felt empty. Now, you look lonely, calm, and extremely polite. Something has happened to you, and I don't know what, but just know Mom is always there for you."
Sam who saw his mother catch on to his changed attitude and presence smiled, his mother is a very shrewd businesswoman who can read people easily, so Sam knew that she would pick up on his change. But after Sam heard her say that she would support him regardless, he stared at her and confirmed the plan to make sure the Landon Family is safe in his kingdom when he is established.
"Sam, you okay?"
"Oh, yes. Sorry, I love you, Mother. Just know that." Sam then turned his head and began staring at the window again and continued his train of thought.
Sam's mother who heard that had a tear in her eye before hugging Sam's arm tightly while watching the window together with him.

Landon Family Residence
Sam and his mother soon arrived at the residence which was a massive villa with a bunch of cars parked outside.
"Looks like the family is already inside! Let's head in!"
Sam's mother grabbed his hand and they both walked into the home with everyone else standing around with a drink in their hand while talking to each other.
"Look who is back!" Sam's mother who couldn't wait any longer then revealed Sam behind her who just sighed at his mother's extravagant entrance.
"Sam! You are alright!" Soon, a bunch of middle-aged men and women began rushing toward Sam with hugs and smiles. Sam smiled and continued to navigate between everyone.
After everyone said their hellos, Sam turned his head towards the corner and saw his cousins hiding from him. Sam didn't blame them, he was a tyrant to many of his peers when he was a party animal, and he probably hurt them in more ways than one.
"Oh, is that little Sam? Come give grandma a hug!" An elderly woman with crutches walked towards Sam and Sam quickly gave her a massive hug.
"Grandma! You look as beautiful as ever!" Sam's charming words caused his grandmother to laugh out loud.
"That is the first time you said such charming words to this old woman!"
"Expect much more Grandma, I will make sure you hear every compliment I got for the rest of your life!"
"You cute child, you look healthy and stronger than before!"
Sam's physique has changed due to his leveling up in the Other World. His body has begun suiting his fighting style of a warrior.
"Lots of working out and eating right. You look extremely healthy as well!"
"No, I don't, but seeing you inspired me to live a few years so I can see your kids!"
Sam laughed and began heading toward his mother who saw the interaction.
"You really made that old woman happy, she has been extremely stressed after hearing you were missing. So was I, and everyone else."
Sam shook his head, "I don't deserve such love, I don't deserve it."
"What are you talking about?! You are a Landon child! That bloodline means that regardless if you were a bad person, we will have your back."
"Hearing that really makes me happy Mom. If anyone here needs me in the future when I am free, I shall help that person out with everything I got."
"That's the spirit! Now, let's go to the dinner table and have a nice hearty meal celebrating your return!"
Everyone began to head towards the dining table and each table was served a dish that was so delicious that Sam was disappointed that he ate it too quickly.
"You look extremely satisfied Sam! Meals like this come once and a while for you nowadays right?" Sam's uncle, who is in the military as a high-ranking officer smiled as he saw Sam gobbling his food.
"I've been busy with work, and eating food like this sure is rare"
"Oh? What sort of work is that?"
"Something I can't really talk about, not for a while anyways."
"Hmmm…"
Sam's uncle squinted his eyes and Sam stared right back, which impressed his uncle who remembered Sam as the dandy playboy who was relying on his dad's money and status.
"You did change, that's for sure. But regardless, it is a welcome change. Anything you need, come to me!" Sam's uncle reached his hand and Sam shook it with a smile, under the watchful eye of the rest of the family.
"Now that the interrogation is over…" Sam's mother stared at her brother who flinched and looked away, "I want to announce that Sam is no longer a part of the Yong family meaning he is officially a Landon. He won't have any status as an heir, but being part of the Landon family is much better than being with that piece of crap!"
Sam who heard his mother's announcement nods his head, "I don't need any title, just being with you all made me realize that there is someone in this world that loves me, and for that, I gladly will take the surname of Landon."
Sam's grandmother slowly gets up from her chair, "As the family head, I shall announce that he is now known as Sam Landon!"
Everyone then raised their glasses, except the cousins who came with their parents and saluted.
Soon, the night was over and the family began heading back to their apartment.
Sam who was next to his mother drinking a beer watched the night sky.
"I know the situation, but could you tell me what happened?"
"Joseph and Evelyn made a plan to frame me for an evil deed that I did not do, and my father not listening to my side kicked me out to the ghetto."
"And what was this evil deed?"
"I was going to drug Evelyn, and do something heinous as she is under the influence"
"… I saw Evelyn walk out of Joseph's residence recently. You think they are together?"
"Think? They are 100% together. I just didn't see it until it was too late."
"Daniels family huh…" Sam's mother made a mental note, she must have a showdown with the family head there and get justice for Sam.
"You don't need to start any more trouble, it is enough for me to be with you Mom."
"They threw you out like a rabbit to the wolves, and you expect your mother to accept that? Don't worry, they will pay."
Sam smiles and stands up, "I got to go head back to my apartment. I won't be around for a few months for work, but when I am back I'll call you and we can have a nice dinner like this"
"Where do you work? Why are you missing for so long?"
"I can't talk about it, but it is something that will benefit the Landon family. Trust me, you'll realize how much I'm doing for us." Sam hugs his mother tightly before heading out of the Landon home.
Sam's mother who watched on then grabbed her phone from her pocket and rang a number.
"… Yes Ma'am?"
"That photo you took of Evelyn at Joseph's residence, send it to her. Soon, we will begin our plan!"
"Understood!"
The phone hangs up and she stares at Sam's back.
'I will never… never forgive them for what they did to you!'

A few hours later, Daniels Household.
"WHO TOOK THAT PHOTO!" Evelyn jumped from her bed and screamed as she saw a photo of her leaving Joseph's place.
"We don't know young miss, but we received this not too long ago."
"…"
Evelyn stayed silent before hanging up and ringing another number.
"… What? I'm busy!"
"Someone knows I was at your place! They took a photo and sent it to me!"
"And?" Joseph who sounded out of breath for a moment questioned Evelyn.
"This is big! If your father finds out that we are together he would suspect us! Our plan might fail!"
"Don't worry about it, that old man won't be around for long. Just focus on convincing your father about the merger in the future. Look, I'm busy, so call me later okay?"
"…Okay…"
Evelyn bites her lip but decides to trust her beloved Joseph and heads to bed. She plans to meet with her father and begin the plan both she and Joseph planned.

Meanwhile, Joseph's residence.
"Come on… don't stop!" A coquettish voice rang in Joseph's ears as he was slightly annoyed at Evelyn's call.
"You like that?" Joseph begins battling with the young lady in his bed for a while before slowly getting off the bed and going to the bathroom.
"I think you can last another round…" The young lady slowly walked up to Joseph's back and touched his shoulder, but was met with a backhanded slap.
"Stupid bitch, don't touch me. I paid you your money, now leave! Whore!"
The young lady who was on the ground then stood up with tears in her eyes before running out of the bathroom.
Joseph who saw her running off then stared at himself in the mirror and had a sinister grin on his face.
'Soon… Soon everything will be mine…'

Longer chapters, new arc starts. I'm trying my best to make this story work, and it looks like it's shaping to be something really good. i hope you all enjoy it!
