Chapter 2: Reincarnation

'Hello?'

'Is there anyone there?'

I found myself floating in an endless black abyss. I couldn't see, hear, smell, or feel anything in this dark, silent space.

I was floating around, wandering in the abyss as I waited... and waited... and waited.

I didn't even know how long I floated in this dark, silent space. However, I still remember everything that happened right before everything turned dark.

'So, this is what it's like when you die, huh?' I thought, casually swiping my hand in the empty space.

I just hoped my mother wasn't emotionally hurt. She was the strongest person I knew, so I knew she would heal.

I laughed, knowing she'd do everything to get those bastards punished. When the thought came to mind, I smiled—until I remembered how serious she can be when setting her mind to something.

'I hope mom takes care of herself while I'm gone.' I thought... still... alone in my thoughts.

'Why am I here... What am I supposed to do? Just let me pass on already, dammit!' I got irritated, yelling at whatever or whoever kept me confined to this dark place.

It was then that I saw a small tinge of light. The same light that was like a small flame before expanding.

While the light grew slowly, I could hear muffled voices shouting.

I started to become elated; I didn't have to wait in this hell anymore. I started moving toward the light, reaching out to grab ahold of it.

When I did, I suddenly felt very cold. However, I didn't really care about that when I saw various people standing in the room.

Most of them sighed in relief; others tried to tidy up their surroundings. I suddenly felt someone turning me over.

The person, who was an older lady, had black hair tied into a bun. On her sweating face were brown eyes, and under them were a straight nose and thin lips.

Her lips smiled as she spoke. "Congratulations, Allola. It's a beautiful baby girl."

'What? Baby?' I thought as I was placed in another woman's arms.

When I looked up at her, I suddenly felt warmth and motherly love, no different from the way my mother used to look at me.

The woman with the motherly gaze had messy white hair and navy blue eyes. She smiled. "Aw~ My beautiful, adorable baby girl. Fufu~ if your father was here, he would've been happy. You have his enchanting sky-blue eyes."

The woman, who I suspect is my mother, frowned. A concerned look crossed her face as she looked up at the doctor. "Is it normal for new-born babies not to cry, Doctor?"

The doctor smiled bitterly. She walked over to Allola, my new mother, and whispered in her ear. A minute later, Allola had a worried look as she looked at me and the doctor, switching glances before finally looking at me.

'What? Was there something wrong with me?' I thought, feeling uncomfortable.

Allola was lost in thought for a few minutes before sighing and looking at me with worry and a small tinge of anxiety. Though her warm and loving gaze was never feigned in the slightest.

"Those people... do you know when they'll come?" Allola asked the doctor, to which the latter shook her head.

Nodding, Allola sighed once again. She smiled at me. "Although our time together might be short, I will make sure you feel treasured before you leave, my beautiful Halan. That is your name, Halan Kanjen."

Allola held me tight, and I felt really sleepy, so I dozed off to sleep.

In what felt like a blink of an eye, three years have passed since my birth.

"..."

Sitting on a blanket just outside our large wooden hut, I watched the sun rise in the distance. While watching the sun rise, I glanced at my new mother, Allola, who was taking some clothes off the line.

Three years had passed, and in that time, I had learned very little about the world I had reincarnated into. I learned that I was born on a planet named Kinzara, and that's pretty much it.

I wasn't sure if I reincarnated into some fantasy world or a normal medieval world, but it didn't feel like either of the two.

I couldn't ask any questions at first because I simply couldn't. In spite of this, since I'm now three years old, I have attempted to get information from my mother and others around me, but I have only been given a smile.

Something I noticed was that my mother was looking at me with concern hidden behind her loving gaze, and I couldn't figure out why. It was truly maddening that I was kept in the dark.

I still find myself missing my mother on Earth, but Allola has grown on me, and I have started to love her as well.

I wonder what my mother on Earth has been doing—is she fine? I sighed.

"Come, let's go inside, Halan." Allola called out while carrying a wooden basket of clothes.

I got up. "Coming, Mommy!" I yelled as I kicked my small feet against the dirt, running toward her.

I grabbed onto her shirt as we both walked inside the wooden hut. When we entered, we could smell the yummy food the housemaids were making.

I suspect that my mother is a noble from somewhere, but she hasn't told me a thing. I eventually gave up in the end. Whether she was a noble or not, it didn't matter. Even if she is, she's a bit weird since she helps the maids with their tasks. I say it's weird, but I find it pleasant.

I walked over to a table, climbed up on a seat, and placed my hands on my lap. My mother carried the wooden basket filled with clothes to our room while the maids continued with breakfast.

I assume everyone in this house is a morning person, as they wake up very early in the morning. I, for one, am not a morning person.

Well, that's what I'd say on Earth, but now I feel really refreshed and energized all the time. It feels like I can stay up for days on end and not be tired at all.

Plus, I noticed my surroundings were... a bit different; I'm not sure how to describe it. It's a weird feeling, but I don't dislike it at all.

While waiting for food, my mother returned and sat down next to me. Like usual, she had a smiling face, but this time the concern in her eyes was apparent; something must be really bothering her.

"Mommy, are you okay?" I asked her, which startled Allola as she sighed.

"Yes, I'm okay, sweetie. Just wait patiently for breakfast, alright?" She said this while patting my nodding head.

Soon after, breakfast was finished. The housemaids plated the food and placed it in front of my mother and me. As we received our meals, the housemaids plated their food and sat down with us, and we ate.

....

After breakfast, my mother and I went to the bathroom to wash up. Then, we got out of the bath and dressed ourselves.

We spent the rest of the day doing chores, then had lunch and dinner. It was a day like any other.

Lying down in bed next to my mother, we both said goodnight and headed to sleep. It seemed like something was really bothering her because the whole day she kept silent, saying little to nothing to me.

I have a feeling that something is going to happen soon, and she's just preparing herself for it. What is it? I don't know, since no one tells me anything.

I sighed inwardly, closed my eyes, and drifted off to sleep.

....

In the morning, I was woken up by my mother, as usual. I stretched and yawned, groggily waking up and getting out of bed.

Looking over to my mother, I saw that she was finding some clothes for us to wear after our bath. The clothes she picked out were all expensive-looking. It's like she's planning a noble party or meeting someone very influential.

After she picked out our clothes, she brought us to the bathroom, where we washed ourselves before getting out. We soon started getting dressed, and my mother was very attentive to making sure I looked presentable.

"Mommy, why are we getting dressed so nicely?" I asked, looking at her as she moved all around my body to make sure my outfit was perfect.

"Oh, baby. That's because a very nice lady will be coming today, and I want to make sure we look very good in front of her." She replied before dressing herself with the same enthusiasm.

I nodded in reply, but said nothing. 'Maybe a noble is coming over today or something,' I thought.

When we were finally done looking presentable, we had breakfast, which was the same as yesterday: some unfamiliar meat, salad, and delicious water.

After enjoying everything with relish, we finished and cleaned up. Just as soon as we cleaned up, we heard a knock on the front door.

I looked over at my mother, and she looked like she wasn't prepared to face whoever was behind that door.

A few housemaids walked up to her and encouraged her to open the door, for which she thanked them.

Allola walked over to the door with slow steps. Nearing the door, she breathed in and out, trying to calm herself down.

She sighed one last time before opening the door. My mother moved out of the way and let the person come into the house.

A few seconds later, a woman—no, an alien woman—came in. She stood roughly one hundred and seventy centimeters tall.

Though she lacked hair, she had thick, large white horns with blue stripes that sprouted from her head. The horns had tails that lay over her shoulders.

The woman had red skin and white face paint on her beautiful face. A brown robe covered her body, making it impossible to see her figure.

While the woman was an alien that resembled a human, I finally understood what she was and where I was.

'Jedi...'

CREATORS' THOUGHTS

Thank you for reading!

I know that I got right into it, but nothing's really notable about her time before becoming an initiate.

Also, I've read that force-sensitive are usually picked up by Jedi a few months after being born, so I know Halan is pretty late. However, Allola is important to the story, so I wanted her to be shown before Halan leaves for the Jedi Temple.
