Chapter 1: Prologue 1: Is Not Over Yet

This story begins at approximately the exact moment in which the Prototype 2 game ended.
Because I couldn't find any information about the current age of Amaya Heller, both in the game and on the internet, I will just consider her as a child of 10 years in maximum, if any reader can get this official information for me, I will sure thank you later, because I will add a fixed age in the future, even if that is currently not relevant.
This chapter is narrated from the point of view of James Heller.
- What do we do now? - Questions Dana, looking at the sunrise of this city in ruins, as I hold my daughter in my arms.
I started this whole journey looking for revenge against a monster in human form, believing it to be the only way to make up for my absence and failure to protect my family. I became the same type monster during my hunt for Mercer, I almost became another of his damn pawns until I found out the whole truth, but finally my revenge is over, I can finally manage to feel human again by the simple embrace of my daughter Maya.
It still hurts to feel that I was too late to save both.
"Colette my dear wife, I failed to protect our family, I know that revenge would never bring you back to me, but I did it and saved our daughter, no matter what the price it cost me, I saved our girl."
- Father? - I hear Maya react to my long embrace, and my tears, my first tears after becoming a monster while thinking about my deceased wife and her mother.
- Everything will be fine; daddy will protect you from now on. - I answer as I stand up holding my daughter while adjusting her to hold in my arms.
- James. - I hears Dana calling my name and I am turns towards her, while Maya remains hold in my arms.
- Thanks Dana. For protecting my daughter until now. - I thanks Dana, my new friend and ally who even facing the ghost of her brother in the most terrible form of a monster, decided to stand up and fight.
- Is me that thank you James, for having not only saved us, but for saved our city, which even in ruins, without more monsters will be easier to start hoping again. - Answers Dana as she walks in towards me and holds Maya's left hand giving a slight smile with her lips.
I can feel Mercer inside me, even if it's just the memories of her true brother and probably not the monster he became, even with his bad choices in his last moments of life, he still had feelings for Dana and that's probably the biggest reason in the which it she has survived until this day.
"Would you really have been able to save the original Mercer?"
That question popped into my mind as I looked Dana into her eyes, but that question would be a cruel one to ask, after everything she's been through.
- James? Do you need to talk to me about something? - Dana asked when she realized my gaze and probably my inability to share my thoughts.
- Yes, I don't know how it happened, but I can guarantee that the city is really free from the monsters, it was something that just happened after I consumed Mercer. Somehow my body reacted after consuming him, I lost control of my own body and I feel that I consumed all the infected from the city at once, as a reaction in chain. - I replied Dana changing the focus of my thoughts, Alex Mercer is dead, and it should no longer be my problem and nor ours.
- I suspected that something had happened due to the silence of the city, maybe there are still some soldiers around, but close to the monsters we had to deal with it will be much easier. Still, we will have a lot of work to do during this new transition. - Said Dana as she let go of my daughter's hand, she stretched her arms up and turned her back as she placed her hands on her hips looking at the sunrise again.
- Dana, I need time to rest and this vault looks like a great room for someone who has already fought all kinds of threats that a damn big city could offer me, can I leave Maya with you for a few hours? - I asked Dana, interrupting her possible analysis of the city and where to start.
- After being locked up with your daughter for so long, I was thinking of have her for myself. For a little girl she is braver than many adults in this town. - Dana replied, as she approached us again and reached out, making a caress on Maya's face.
- Daddy, I want to stay with you! - Maya exclaimed, hugging me tight and turning her back on Dana. - I don't want to be alone again. - She insisted this time with her eyes about to tear up.
- My baby girl, I'm not going anywhere, the truth is that after daddy got different and stronger, my snoring could have gotten even louder, will you be able to stay close to your daddy while he snores like a dinosaur? - I replied trying to induce this stubborn little girl, even appealing to jokes.
- Mommy used to say that you traveled so much by plane in your work, that during the night you learned to make the noise of one. - Replied my daughter smiling trying to contain her laughter.
- An airplane? So, you better make this vault your new permanent room, or Maya really will have to live with me. - Dana replied, joining in the fun.
*The loud sound of the laugher of a man with a thick voice*
I laughed so loud that my own daughter jumped scared in my arms for a second, but soon she started laughing too, Dana couldn't hold back either.
*Sound of people laughing together*
It was the first time I could laugh after I got back to this city, something I couldn't imagine doing again before.
I put my daughter on the floor while we were still laughing, she walked over to Dana's side and took her hand that was relaxed and loose waiting to be hold, Dana held Maya's hand back, both of them they smiled at each other as they held hands.
- I'll take a look at the building and see if I can get a way to communicate with the Resistance, can we wait for you downstairs? - Dana questioned me.
- Yes, I won't be long, it will be just like a nap after a little run. - I replied Dana, who supposedly should have known my intentions by now.
- Don't delay Daddy! - Exclaimed Maya as if it were an order, this thing she probably took it from me.
- Okay my baby girl, I will be soon with you again. - I replied giving a wink with my right eye right after the reply.
They both waved at me and I waved back before turning away back and start walking, I waited until they came down the stairs to begin my supposed nap.
I just wanted to be alone, after all the adrenaline and the rescue of my daughter, I still haven't had time to reflect and concentrate over my body. What I became before, what I became after consumed Mercer and all the freaks in town, and how can I still be a human or acting like a father after all this.
I walked towards the bank vault door that I ripped off myself with my own hands, I took it and walked backwards towards the safe, even if this door is not enough to hold me for a long time, it will still be better than nothing, apart from that I don't want to scare my daughter again with any kind of grotesque and terrifying mutation for any normal child, I want to at least hide the monster's part me of my dear daughter.
I backed into the vault, let go of the door, and before it could topple over, I turned my arm into a whip, wrapped it around the door valve and pulled hard, locking me from the inside of the vault. The best way it seemed possible for the moment.
I immediately noticed that I can see in the dark, this ability should whether it was Mercer's or of some other monster, I went to the center of the vault, sat to the ground slowly and closed my eyes.
"Now it's time to assimilate and connect everything, find out how far my access goes the memories and the Web of Intrigues, finding out who Mercer was and what now I became."
That's what I thought as a trigger to access everything at once, deep down I knew that everything would be different and Mercer would not be the end of my story.

Ex_Samurai Well this my first work, english is not my native language and I did it(the translation) while my right ear hurting like a hell! However I'm happy because I did it! I have more chapters planned to post until sunday, for now I focus in finish the Prologue(yes will be more that one) and later I'll share more about how I'll write, review and plan about the frequence of releases.
