Chapter 7: The difference

*Chizuki Pov*

"Group number four, to the starting line please."

Hearing Rias's words, I began making my way over to the track.

Remembering the old man's words, I can't help but sigh. He's right. I should use the academy to improve myself so I can hopefully one day catch up with the likes of Garp and Sengoku, instead of comparing myself to a bunch of children... as ironic as it sounds.

Garp and Sengoku's power, from what little they have shown me, is unfathomable for me at the moment and yet, my first thought upon coming here was to hold back.

Stupid. Stupid. STUPID.

I have a gift, and I should use it to the best of my ability. It's a good thing I found it so early instead of several years from now after getting complacent and then getting my ass handed to me by a guy who's only trained for two years. Sounds like a bad plot to a novel.

'Hmm, let's see. I'm against four boys, and each one of them are giving me an extremely annoying look.

Like seriously, what exactly are you trying to show off?

"Hey old man!" I shouted, getting his attention. "Can we use techniques or is it just physical abilities?"

He took a few seconds to think over my question before replying.

"No techniques. It's to see how you compare to each other so we can test how much you improve each month; you can really improve those techniques unless you master them, and it wouldn't be fair on the others."

Well, it makes sense, I guess. I'm just too awesome.

"Is everyone ready?"

Phew. Ok let's kick their asses. No holding back.

"3...2...1.... GO"

---------------------

*3rd Person Pov*

"3...2...1.... GO"

The moment Rias finished speaking, all five recruits took off running as fast as their legs would take them.

"Finish"

....

"Huh"

That was until they heard the sound of a bell representing someone finishing a second after they started, that caused one of them to trip over their own feat and knock over the others like bowling pins.

The four of them looked up to see Chizuki leisurely walking towards the old man, who was stood at the finish line, to ask what her score was. Though even his eyes slightly widened at her speed.

"How fast old man?"

"0-0.63 seconds (350mph)" He said in amazement and Chizuki just hummed. He couldn't tell if she was happy or not.

The others, however, were appalled. No, they were outright horrified. So far, the fastest one among them managed to reach 4.3 seconds which is roughly 60mph, and Chizuki just ran nearly seven times faster and doesn't even look like she tried.

"Is.. Is she even human?"

"M-monster"

"How the hell am I supposed to beat that thing?"

Just like the old man predicted, the effects happened instantly. Those with weak minds began to doubt themselves and curse the unfairness of the world. To them, Chizuki became something equivalent to a mountain they were unable to comprehend or scale.

She also decided to add fuel to the flames.

She turned to look at them, mockery was clearly reflected in her eyes, and they could have sworn her eyes almost seemed to glow.

"Heh, you know, when they say slow and steady wins the race, I don't think they meant that slow."

And then they all coughed blood and died- *cough*

They all looked at her with humiliation, though none of them bothered retorting so she just scoffed and walked away.

"Good job" The old man whispered as she walked past, and she nodded with a smile.

One person, however, was looking at her with a fire in his eyes. He clearly wasn't put off by what she just did and instead looked forward to the challenge. Coincidentally he was in the last group.

After that, the races continued, though no one came close to her record. One of them did run it in two seconds (111mph). It was a kid named Rob Lucci.

It was surprising for her but also not at the same time. This was what she expected before coming here, but at least one of them managed to live up to her expectations.

---

*Chizuki Pov*

Next up is the strength test and since the group's remain the same, I'm in the fourth group meaning 15 others get to go before me.

*sigh* how boring.

Seeing the looks they're giving me; it seems they're going to try and redeem themselves on the strength test. They must think that I spent most of my time training my speed and neglecting my strength.

*BAM*

"260Kg*

*BAM*

"482Kg"

*BAM*

"376Kg"

Yup. I was right.

Every time someone heard their score, they would turn to look at me, likely trying to gauge my reaction while looking smug.

How annoying.

---

The scores more or less averaged at around 400Kg. One or two people managed to score above 500Kg but that was it.

Finally, it's my turn.

"Group 4, it's your turn."

The moment Rias said those words, everyone turned to look at me, waiting for my score. I almost feel like a celebrity.

Walking up to the machine I can see it looks pretty simple. It is kind of shaped like a cannon with a round, red cushion at the front and a screen above that tells your score.

"You just need to hit the red cushion as hard as you can, it doesn't matter whether you punch it or kick it."

"Alright then"

Seems simple enough. Let's do a kick then since my legs are stronger than my arms.

Lining myself up sideways to the machine with my left leg in front, I took a deep breath, and crouched slightly to tighten my center of gravity. I raised my arms to be level with my shoulders and then put my weight on my left leg and twisted my torse.

Using the momentum of my twisting body, I put all my strength into my leg and then smashed it into the red cushion.

*BAAM*

The impact made quite a loud sound and I could hear the murmurs of those behind me.

"2183Kg"

...

"Hoh, a little over two Tons huh."

Not bad. I have definitely improved, if I was this strong two years ago those Kibatora's would have been a piece of meat, quite literally.

Hah, how pitiful I am, thrown into a jungle and subjected to such torture just to get strong.

"E-Er Chizuki, are you alright? Did you hurt your foot?"

Huh? What's he on about?

"No. I was just thinking about how pitiful I am for me to be so strong. *Sigh*"

...

Recruits: (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

"P-P-Pitiful?" He asked. Though his voice sounds a little tense. Now that I look closer his eyes are twitching.

"That's right pitiful. I guess this is the fate of the talented huh. *double sigh*

"R-Right... next person please"

I wonder what's wrong with everyone? They look like they're about to cough up blood and die. I guess they're just shocked by my strength huh? Fufufu pitiful mortals.

Guess I'll go take a nap.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
*3rd person Pov*
After Chizuki left to take a nap, the air remained tense for a while.
Most of the recruits felt that she was just humiliating them and felt mad. Others felt like she was some sort of demon sent to piss them off.
Everyone continued with their go, but no matter how well they performed, they couldn't bring themselves to celebrate or gloat. Those who had previously celebrated felt like throwing themselves into the ocean and swimming with the sea kings.
At least the sea kings will acknowledge their existence for a few seconds. (As food that is).
Even the old man began to doubt whether or not this was a good thing. He thought that Chizuki could become a driving force for them, not the scythe that severs their drive.
When Sengoku told him she was strong, he thought he meant she was a genius and strong for her age. Not a demon in human skin.
At this rate, he might not have any recruits left.
"What a pickle, Gyahahaha. It seems I severely underestimated her; I should have figured she'd be a monster when I learned Vice-Admiral Garp trained her. *sigh* What a blunder."
"What should we do?" Rias asked him.
"We'll have to treat her as an anomaly. She'll be in a separate group on her own. Give her complete freedom on the island and help her if she ever needs it.
We can still use her as an inspiration of sorts. We'll just say that anyone who can survive a certain amount of time against her in a fight will earn a certain amount of points. Just because they can't beat her, doesn't mean they can't chase after her. Her scores only really affect those in her group anyway"
"Besides" He said and then looked towards Rob Lucci who was looking at Chizuki's score with a grin. "It's not all bad. Gyahahahaha."
~~~~~~~~~~~~

*Chizuki Pov*

"All right brats, time for the final test. As we told you at the beginning, the final test is that of a fight. A free for all if you will. Each group consists of five people, and you will all fight each other. The first to get knocked out only gets one point, the second to eliminated gets two points and so on.

The only rules are no weapons and no killing each other. ANYTHING else is valid. Good luck."

So, they can team up huh. Given the way the four in my group are looking at me, I assume that's what they're going to do.

Not that it makes a difference.

One ant or four ants. All it takes is one boot.

I can also predict at least one of them will betray the others. All of them attacking me comes with the risk of being eliminated first and losing points. So far, I have 10 and the closest one to me has 6, even IF they knock me out first and he wins, we would be tied.

And the others won't let him win since he's the second biggest threat and will try to get him out either before or after me.

Well, like I said before, it's all useless. They lack the necessary strength or speed to deal with me and I have actual combat experience, most of their hands are smooth and lack calluses, indicating they haven't trained with weapons or in fights. They have probably just trained their bodies.

"First group proceed to the arena."

The "Arena" as they called it, is just a square that's been marked into the grass. It's 10x10 meters in total.

The first five people made their way into the square and stood in a pentagon shape, equally apart from each other.

*Whistle*

And the moment they heard the whistle, they ran at each other.

Punches were thrown.

Kicks were thrown.

Headbutts' were thrown.

People were bit.

....

This is horrible. This couldn't even be called a fight, it's more like a group of thugs fighting over a piece of gold. A bunch of uncivilised brutes.

GAH. How annoying. It's one thing that they're weak, but to be weak and a brute with no skill is pathetic. They're no different than pirates.

Eventually, one of the guys managed to win by performing a sneak attack on Tana whilst she was focused on someone else.

"Bob wins"

Tch. Damn Bob and his sneak attacks.

Wait till it's my go, I'll show them how to fight.

~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for reading.
Got any advice?
There will be a time skip next chapter probably. Not a big one, just a few months where she will experience her first mission. She'll eventually fight pirates and start to gain a bad view on them.
The story will start to pick up from here since it will be more adventure than training, she will obviously continue to get stronger though.
I also have an idea for the devil fruit I am going to give her. If you have any ideas on which one you think she should have, lemme know but the one I'm thinking of is my own.
