Chapter 28: Pokemon congenital deficiency

Jun tapped at Eevie sign

[Condition: Congenital Deficiency]

[Recommendation for cure: more information needed.]

Jun was taken aback. 'What now? before Pokerus, now congenital deficiency?'

"Jun?" Pinery asked seeing Jun who was in daze

Jun quckly shaked its head, "Assistance Pinnery, may I ask, why Eevie appearance difference from my Eevee?"

Eevie appeared paler than his Eevee, with fur lacking its usual luster and appearing more matte or dull. Its movements may be slower and less energetic, and it may have a slightly smaller stature or weaker build due to the deficiency affecting its growth.

Pinnery quickly hugged Eevee and put it on her lap, rubbing it gently. "As you can see, my Eevee was born with a congenital defect. It has been genetically defective from the moment it was born."

"From the moment it was born?" Jun pondered from amoment, "Then, Is it inherited from its parents?"

Pinery shook her head, "It's very rare for a Pokemon to inherit defects from its parents. Issues usually arise if something happens to the Pokemon eggs before they hatch, or if the Pokemon is bred through abnormal means.' Pinery then patted Eevee and continued, "Before Eevee was born, its egg was soaked in water for a long time, which resulted in a congenital deficiency"

Jun nodded and asked, "Then, other than appearance, does it affect others?"

"Yes, there are many effects of congenital deficiency on a Pokemon. Firstly, the growth of a defective Pokemon is slower than that of a normal Pokemon. Secondly, the Pokemon cannot evolve, regardless of the amount of training it undergoes. And thirdly, no matter how hard the Pokemon tries, its physical abilities will not be sufficient to excel in battle or perform certain tasks" Pinnery replied

"So it's that serious? Isn't that Pokemon basically..." Jun trailed off.

Pinnery simply smiled. "You must think the Pokemon is useless, right?"

Jun remained silent.

"It can be thought of that way. That's why the Empire and Alliance work together and oversee all trainers and organizations related to Pokemon. Trainers cannot abandon their Pokemon, and all Pokemon daycares must be registered with the Alliance. Issuing certain Pokemon eggs must also be done through a certain Pokemon laboratory. This is also why only Pokemon professors can own Pokemon laboratories." Pinery explained

Jun remembered from his history class that when the Pokemon Alliance was first established, there were no rules about abandoned Pokemon. This meant that every trainer basically accepted a lot of Pokemon and also abandoned a lot of Pokemon too. You strong? follow me, You weak? bye-bye. Its not to bad if they released their Pokemon in the place where they first captured them. However, many trainers released their Pokemon in residential areas, causing huge troubles.

Later, as the Alliance grew in power and maturity, it established Alliance breeding farms that eventually became renowned and historically significant Pokemon laboratories nowdays, such as Professor Oak's laboratory.

As time went on, the demand for Pokemon increased and the breeding facilities of the Alliance were unable to keep up. As a result, Pokemon daycares were established to ease the burden on Alliance breeding farms. The job of a Pokemon daycare worker is to put Pokemon eggs on the market, raise Pokemon cubs, or groom Pokemon. This allows trainers to access a wider variety of Pokemon with higher potential with the facilities provided by Pokemon Alliance.

Nowadays, all trainers and Pokemon-related organizations must be registered with the Alliance, and trainers are required to register their identity and their Pokemon. If they don't, they will not be allowed to participate in official Pokemon battles and competitions or enjoying facilities like Pokemon centre, Poke Marts, or access to Pokemon Alliance apps like Pokedex.

"Can I hold Eevie for a while?" Jun asked.

Pinery was surprised but nodded and handed Eevie over to Jun. Eevie didn't object either, since she could sense that Jun was a fellow Eevee trainer and not have malicious intern towards her.

Jun hugged her and start to experiment, 'More information needed? Touch still unlocked it. Hmm.. how to gather more the information?' Jun was confused

"Ah come to think of it, is there a no way to cure Eevie?" Jun asked

"For now, the Alliance already has the technology to identify which Pokemon eggs have congenital deficiencies and has created a technology for genetic modification. However, it only applies to Pokemon eggs." she replied

"Only for Pokemon eggs?" Jun asked back

"The genetic modification of cubs and fully grown Pokemon may be too complex and difficult to manipulate without causing harm to the Pokemon. For now, only a certain congenital deficiency can be cured through genetic modification. Furthermore, defective Pokemon are weaker than normal ones, so not many trainers are willing to hand over their Pokemon for research purposes. That's why progress is slower since there are not many samples available for research," she explained

"So that how is it.. By the way I want to ask something. Are your primary research about Eevee?" this was basically was make Jun curious, in the pokemon series Pinery was know for professor specialist for Eeveelution.

She nodded, "You are right. My primary research is on Eevee, but since there are not many things to be discovered, there are also not many topics on it. Right now, the most hot topic about Eevee is probably about Professor Rowan's research on Eevee's genetic instability."

"Then, as your research, are you not curious or have you not already tested using an evolution stone on Eevee?" Jun tentatively asked.

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
Hellowkun Hellowkun

I apologize for the grammatical error in the previous chapter regarding the use of 'he/she.' Since I wrote three chapters in one day, it's possible that my brain made a mistake.

Spoiler:

For the next chapter basically explains Eevee's evolution from a scientific perspective. There will also be an explanation as to why Eeveelution in this world has still not been discovered. I basically burned all my brain cells to write the next chapter, so please support me with your power stones! (^u^)
