Chapter 6: Chapter five:I hate him

**ELENA'S POV**

The hooded man was cutting his way through hordes of people, behind him was a mountain of corpses, some of the faces of the corpses were familiar at the bottom like our general, Lincoln, his face was disfigured with slashes. The hooded man looked straight at me his curved blades dripping with blood, his eyes were as red as the devil, he rushed at me faster than anything I've ever seen in my life, I wanted to move but it felt like my feet were glued to the floor in a split second his blade reached my throat.

My eyes bolted open as I gasped for breath, I subconsciously placed my hands on my neck, it was intact, my hair was moist from sweat and so was my face it was still dark outside which meant that I hadn't passed out for a long time.

In front of me was an animal that was already roasted on a campfire, my back was laid against a tree, there were trees as far as the eye could see, obviously he carried me to the forest. My first thought was that he carried me here to finish me off but that didn't make sense, he didn't look like someone who would waste time with stealth when killing me or maybe he is going to... No not that.

"You are finally awake," I heard a voice say.

He was standing a few steps in front of him, in his hands were three rabbits covered in blood. He noticed me staring at the rabbits in his hands.

"which do you prefer, deer or rabbit, 'princess'?" the man said as he pointed at the roasted animal, the way he said princess was more mocking than respectful.

I didn't say anything as he stood there waiting for my reply with his mask on I couldn't see if he was angry or annoyed with my silence. After a minute or two he stopped waiting for my reply and started skinning and storing the rabbits. When he was done he went to where the roasted deer was carried it and went away with it leaving me all by myself again. He came back, sat down and removed his weapons before he started sharpening them from his arrows to his long broad sword which was a regular sword I've seen before. We just sat there in silence the only thing that could be heard was the scraping of metal. The silence was more ominous than anything.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"The grim reaper's assistant, ghost, slayer, the widow maker take your pick," he said.

"Tha.. T... That's not what I mean," I said as my now shaking voice began to show.

"then what do you mean by, who are you? Cause I'm not a scholar but am pretty sure you asked for my identity."

"I mean what are you going to do to me?" I asked.

"depends," he said.

"pardon,"

"Well your father paid me to a large sum of money to return you to him, so depending on my mood that could be dead or alive," he casually said.

I hadn't noticed before but all this time he didn't even bother looking at me.

"we are leaving first thing in the morning," he said and he kept his weapons away. "oh and don't make me wake you up."

He lied down and closed his eyes, he didn't take off his mask or hood he just slept like that. I didn't dare sleep, I was afraid that he would do something while I was asleep but my eyes betrayed my stubbornness and I fell asleep.

I dreamt that I was back home on my soft, warm bed, my mother was scolding me about something but I didn't mind I was happy to hear her voice. Lilith and Hanna had prepared my bath and as I was walking inside the bathtub the cold water snapped me out of my slumber. A stream of water was being poured on me.

The mercenary was standing over me as he emptied a leather pouch full of water on my head till every drop was over.

"What is wrong with you!" I yelled as I stood up my hair now had mud sticking on it.

"I told you not to make me wake you up or what did you expect 'princess' I wake you up with singing," he said as he placed the pouch back to his waist.

"And by the way that was your share of water and the closest river is forty miles south,"

Mom always said that a princess should not use vulgar words but "asshole!" I shouted.

He unsheathed his sword and placed it on my neck, "like father like goddamn daughter," he said. Fear this has been my routine emotion nowadays.

"I finally understand why your eye is a little fucked up, so don't raise your voice at me if you want to reach your home breathing, okay Heinrich?"

The cold steel at my throat made me forget how to speak so I just nodded my head. He pulled it back fast cutting me a little, the cut wasn't as deep as the one on my arm but it was aimed at the most fatal part of my body.

" so now that's out of the way, let's start dawn is upon us and a useless royal can't be fast so let's start walking," he said as he led the way.

Summary of my body, I have a healing black eye, a cut on my arm and now neck. Thankfully Liam bought me this new dress and shoes so I didn't look like a slave.

We walked until the sun was over our heads my feet were now killing me, I wanted to ask him for a break but the throbbing pain on my neck was a reminder to keep my mouth shut but my prayers were answered and he finally stopped took off his bag and removed a few pieces of meat that he started eating with his back facing me, making me not see his face.

"There is nothing for you, I asked you if you liked deer meat, you kept that trap of yours shut so eat your stubbornness," he said when he was done eating.

I hate him, I hate him, I hate him so much. Even Raven wasn't much of an asshole compared to this demon. Making me walk for miles hungry and thirsty with a tight leash around my neck. This is going to be the worst days of my life. The mercenary kept scanning the area as we kept walking looking around for any sign of whatever he was looking for, I don't know why he picked the forest and not the road for this journey, maybe he just wanted to annoy me.
