Chapter 8: DxD 8 – Leaving in the Darkness
After helping Miss Wirth with the cleaning up. Gunnar took Miss Wirth's advice and informed the twins about his sudden change of his. Informing them, he wanted to move on from his parents' death. Which Zell and Zella, who are a little confuse, and clueless, since they were forsaken as babies here.
Even if they don't know what it like to lose your parents like Gunnar did. But they still accepted that change. Even if the real cause was something else altogether.
When Gunnar done informing them. It was time to head to primely school, along with the rest of the orphanage. At school, most kids, actually stayed away from Gunnar, which did shock him a little bit. Since he thought he be bothered by his looks.
But he wasn't, since most kids here still hasn't developed any hormones yet. Even if Gunnar stood out. A group of 6 and onwards year older kids, who still haven't developed their hormones yet. Will not see Gunnar has the ultimate prey to their eyes yet. Even if some female adults did call out for Gunnar, since he is very cute like a doll.
Of course, there another reason why no one called out Gunnar, or pay much attention to him. Even if he stood out. That is because, many children no matter what country they are in. Will always look down at those without parents. And orphan children often kept their distance away from children with parents.

And in these three years, Gunnar hasn't stopped devouring trees, plants, and other none living objects. He discovers, when he devours something made of material, it strengthens his body. When he devours something that has lifeforce, like trees, he can feel his Abyss within him grow, increasing the amount of Abyssal Power within his body.
Right this moment, Gunnar can feel his body is a lot stronger than a normal human adult. But he has no clue how strong his body is. Since there no way to compared it. But in reality, his physical body is as strong as a just turned Low-Class Reincarnated Devil.
Not to mention, his Abyssal Power also rivals that of a Low-Class being as well. Which makes Gunnar Klinger a Low-Class human, of course, Gunnar does not know if he still can be count as human anymore. Since he can feel it, his body slowly turning into something else. But he is not sure what he will turned into.
Only thing that he does know. That Gunnar should be the only one that can use Abyssal Power in this world. The only one of his kind, or whatever he may turned into the future.
'I can't stay here any longer… I been enjoying the things I hasn't got the chance to, since I was too ill in my past life. School life can be bored sometimes, but I do not regret going… and besides Marius, the orphanage is like a home to me. However… it has been 3 years already… I cannot remain here any longer…'
It will be a lie; that Gunnar didn't enjoy the last three years.
He enjoys spending time with the twins, and Miss Wirth. He liked spending time with his family in this life, which he was unable to in his last life. After all, even if he was from a rich family. And his parents mostly at work. He had no brothers or sisters. Which is why Gunnar enjoyed the last three years with Zella and Zell, who now have Klinger in their last names.
It was Zella's idea, since they always together, like real siblings. Because both Zella, and her twin brother, Zell wanted to become real siblings to Gunnar. The city hall, who didn't really care much. Given them the last name Klinger, to prove their part of Gunnar's family.
It is because of that. It hurts his heart even more. When Gunnar recalled that day, while he looks at the moon in the sky. Feeling all kinds of emotions as he didn't want to leave this place. However, Gunnar has no choice to leave. He already overstays his welcome in the orphanage.
He cannot stay here, what will happened if the other Factions find about his existence? If they found about his existence, they will do anything in order to slay or capture Gunnar. After all Gunnar is a being that shouldn't exist in this world. Some will try to hunt him down, and some will try to use him. And only rare few will leave him be.
That is how the Supernatural world is, the world that Gunnar has no choice to enter that world, since slowly becoming something that isn't human.
Angels, Fallen Angels, Vampires, the Gods, and the Devils, and so many other races, that lived in the Supernatural. Will do anything to get to Gunnar, and he has a weakness. And Gunnar's weakness are the twins, and Wanda Wirth, who is like a grandmother to gunnar, those three people are Gunnar's.
Which is why he must leave, before those Factions find out he has such a weakness.
'I need to become stronger… stronger I am now… I had played enough, my beloved family. But I need to become stronger… I need to have a force of my own to protect what I own dear. Zella, Zell, I know you two will foolish enough to look for me… that why I had to give you that letter, and that time frame as well… And Miss Wirth, I hope you like my gift…'
Gunnar thought, as he looked at his bag on his shoulders. And before long, a black like mist covered the backpack from his back. And took it within the Abyss. It one of the tricks Gunnar found out he can do with his Abyssal Power.
When he brings things into his Abyss. He can either devoured it or keep it inside him. It is like a storage bay within his Abyss. But at the same time, also a belly, since whatever inside this storage bay, he can feed it to his Abyss. And he called this ability to intake things inside his Abyss as, Devourer's Subspace.
Since he can store items inside the subspace in his Abyss. He can also devour whatever inside his abyss. Gunnar has tested this out many times, once he store an apple inside his Devourer's Subspace and see the effect of it. And to his surprise, the apple that is still has inside the Devourer's Subspace, still has no signs of being rotten. Meaning time doesn't exist inside his Abyss.
Of course, there are limitations to his Devourer's Subspace. Just like his Abyssal Power, it counts on the size of his Abyss within his soul. Bigger the Abyss inside him, bigger the Devourer's Subspace, and his Abyssal Power will be. And not only that. There also several other tricks that Gunnar learnt to do with his Abyssal Power.
After all, in the last three years, even if he has been carefully not devouring much, so he wouldn't gained much unwanted attention. That didn't mean he spent all his time playing around with Zella, and her twin brother, Zell. Or hiding from Marius, since he is a pain in the ass to begin deal with and didn't want to use his superhuman level strength on a child, that doesn't know this world's true threats really are.
So, in his spare time, especially within the night. He will always goes to the forest and developed tricks with his Abyssal Power. And Devourer's Subspace is one of them. As for sleep? Strangely enough… ever since awakening this power, Gunnar never been slept once.
He doesn't get why; he feels like he could sleep if he wanted to. But he doesn't need to. Since his body still develop like the others, if he doesn't sleep. Showing that Gunnar already a step in whatever he is becoming, which isn't human. Not to mention there also another reason why Gunnar doesn't sleep…
'Maybe I should sleep… even if I feel fine even without sleeping, maybe this has to do with my Abyssal Powers… maybe something will happened to me, the moment fall I sleep? I keep having a feeling it will… it's because of that feeling, I also didn't want to sleep near Zella and Zell. Fear what might happened when I do fall sleep.'
Gunnar thought. Since the only way to know how to use the Abyss inside him, was by his instincts and intuition only. He always been afraid what will happen, if he were to fall asleep, and whatever the Abyss could do, or make him do. Could affect those around him. However, lucky for him, his body doesn't need sleep like normal humans do.
Recalling the last three years. Gunnar stored his backpack within the Devourer's Subspace. And then he left within the darkness of the night.
Meanwhile, in the middle of the night. Zella, or whose name is Zella Klinger now. Woke up all of the sudden, in her room with two other girls. One has long blonde hair, while the other has dull red hair. Both these girls might be above average in their looks. And yet compared to Zella herself, even if she 9 years old, she still stands out of how cute she is.
Without doubt, when this cute line green haired girl fully begun developing her womanly charms. There no way she will not be a great beauty when she grows up.
As for the girl that woke up in the middle night. Cannot help to narrow her eyes. As she felt something isn't right. As she looked outside her window, not knowing what this uneasy feeling is. And cannot help, that her intuition which is very sharp, compared to her twin timid brother, who is smart, but lack the courage, unlike her. Felt like something is wrong.
Zella slowly stood up from her bed. And still cannot shake off this feeling, that something important to her, will be going away from her. And this is not the first time, she felt this feeling. Since the first time she felt this way, was few weeks ago. And since then, this feeling only got stronger and stronger each passing day.
To the point, even today is the first time, that her feeling of her intuition woke her up in the middle of the night. And this never happened before.
However, recalling the source of this uneasy feeling always comes from him, the person she sees as her best friend, but also as a brother at the same time, Gunnar. Zella's dark purple eyes widen, knowing something isn't right. Even if Gunnar himself never shown any signs of leaving her and her twin brother. But there have been times in these three years, that he acted oddly. But that just it.
But still, she cannot get rid of this uneasy feeling, which is why. This little girl with the lime green hair, that has unusually high intuition. Cannot help herself rushing out of her room. And alarming the two girls in this shared bedroom of theirs. And the first one to wake up was Sofia Henze, who titled her head, seeing Zella rushing out of their room, with no signs of being quiet about it.
