Chapter 22: Flicker

Isora's words resounded in his head. 'Do what I want huh...' Salvador glanced out his window and saw the sun shining in the air. He pondered in his thoughts for a moment as he thought about what he wanted to do. 'Breakthrough, that's what.' He impatiently said with a sigh afterward.

Salvador looked up at the sky behind a fluttering curtain. The light seemed to give his violet eyes a unique but gorgeous shine.

Salvador has been counting the immense number of possibilities for his future. He had many, many questions but nothing extraordinary. 'I can't help but ask. There's a Mage Academy and a Knight Academy, what if you want to be both?' Salvador curiously asked Isora.

'The Knight Academy also teaches magic to those who qualify for it. If you do you'll be taught and trained as a Magic Swordsman. I don't think I have to explain what that is, right?' She sarcastically asked.

'Of course, I know.' Salvador unfolded his arms and walked himself to the empty kitchen.

He walked to the far-right counter and gave himself a banana and quickly chomped it down.

[Banana: 100/100 Consumed.]

[16 MC]

Salvador was able to increase his Mana Capacity by 4 since awakening.

The first two was his first dinner after awakening where he stole his brother's chicken and nearly ate all the food. The other was after cultivating, and the last one now.

He could tell that the speed of his mana increased from eating drastically decreased, and it took him exponentially longer to upgrade it by this method.

Salvador rolled his eyes and released a sassy sigh as he stepped outside. As of recently, he's been traveling around Locha and exploring it to his heart's content.

Luckily, he looked entirely different and his mana drastically changed. After a couple of days, the news eventually died down and became another part of history.

As long as Salvador didn't utilize mana, venturing outside would be perfectly fine. Fortunately, he wasn't going to explore today as he was preparing for the ride to Jaxon's family house which was going to be a long ride, according to him.

Salvador was home alone, his family went out shopping to buy snacks and other wants and needs they had.

He opted to stay home to rest and ease his nerves. He always had an unshared sensation of nervousness whenever doing things with a sliver of importance. His father often criticized him for it, but he couldn't control his feelings.

'I am happy though, action is finally happening in my life.' He said with a smirk before walking back to his bed. During the week he was given to prepare, he took that time learning small-time spells that could assist him, although marginally.

He also managed to slightly learn how to enhance small objects with mana. This really didn't benefit him in any way, only the object. If it was a blade, its durability would only increase by roughly 5% and its attack power would get a slight but minimal boost.

'It's only a small grasp of it, I'll have years to understand this and countless other spells and enhancements. Just above half a decade because Jaxon plans to put me in at an older age so I don't have to wait as long. And it'll help me nurture my real talent.'

Salvador clenched his hand and a sudden faint skin of mana enveloped his fist.

[Skin Enhancement Used!]

[Intent: Fist]

[Strength +1]

He nodded in satisfaction as he read another notification.

[Skill Understanding: 6.85%]

'Hm?' Salvador's interest was piqued as he read this new notification.

As if the system acknowledged his intent, it revealed another screen displaying the information of what he wanted to know.

[Understanding: The higher the percent, typically results in a stronger spell, a faster conjure time, and so on. This can be raised by using the said spell or skill, or through natural growth, just like everyone else.]

Salvador accepted the information and let out a deep breath. 'As you hoped, Salvador. It won't automatically raise it for you, you actually have to understand and master it yourself. Although you can rise it using stat points, of course.'

He quickly shook his head. 'I doubt it'll give me a significant boost, and I already set my mind on how to allocate these stat points.' He firmly spoke in his mind. 'Besides, you said I have a high aptitude so using stat points will be unnecessary unless I have a reasonable answer for doing so.'

Isora nodded at his statement and said, 'It's good to know you're not a complete idiot.'

Salvador's eyes comically narrowed. 'What do you mean?' He asked.

Isora remained silent, intentionally ignoring him which he has gotten used to over time.

A few minutes later, Salvador could hear his mother saying how very few people they saw around the hotel which was usually booming with people.

Finally, his family returned home with a fresh set of armor that fitted Salvador really well from a glance; If he was nearly a decade older.

He was surprised they actually bought him a set of armor, although it wasn't anything lavish.

It was a simple chest plate with arm guards and two pieces that would protect his thighs.

He wasn't expecting them to actually consider his future this early. A heart-warming smile enveloped his face as his family endowed him with the armor.

"Thank you." He said with a big smile, carrying the entire set of armor in his hands. He wasn't sure how much this cost, but he was sure to adore it in the future. He wouldn't even mind turning down better armor if he could wear this as he wanted.

And with Isora's inventory and equipment functions, he wouldn't even have to worry about having weak armor versus a strong opponent, he could easily swap them out with a single thought!

Yves stepped next to him and pulled out a small black dagger. "I didn't know you wanted me to take the assassin path, Father." Salvador jokingly said with a chuckle afterward.

Yves chuckled along and spoke. "Well, it's no doubt you'll have 'that' sword at your disposal, so I supposed buying a small dagger which could be used in times of need where the sword couldn't work.

And who knows, maybe you can be an actual assassin." He ended his sentence with a sneaky grin which earned a back-slap from his lovely wife. "You're really encouraging our son to murder in secret?" She said with a fuming face and furrowed eyebrows.

Nico and William laughed from behind and eventually, the rest of the family joined in with their own antics.

The moment ended with a small tear coming out of the corner of Salvador's eyes.

'These people hating me? What a joke. It's almost as if...' Salvador paused as reality seemed to shift back to a distant memory for a moment.

**

It was a luxurious party, men wore tailored suits and women sported fantastic dresses which skimmed on the ground. The star of this party was a young and stunning Salvador. All eyes were on him and his wife; Angeline.

She had beautiful long brown legs, a seductive pair of eyes, and a dangerous smile that would arouse the thoughts of any man. Her eyes were sharp and dangerous to top it off, a sharp jawline.

She wore a ravishing long ebony dress, her face void of any makeup. Her beauty was what women achieved with impeccable makeup, but she did it naturally. She had a natural smile on her lips and a booming bosom that was barely contained within her dress.

Her arm was wrapped around a man wearing a similar tuxedo, long golden spirals of royal gold flew around his tuxedo. He had a fresh buzz cut and an intimidating aura. A small part of a tattoo that reached the back of his neck could be visible from the front of him. In front of the stunning two, were two children and an elderly lady with her husband.

They too were laughing along with Salvador and Angeline.

Salvador's vision flickered back to the current moment with his new family. His world turned upside down back at that memory as the remnants of it echoed in his head.

As Salvador went down that memory, the end of it was a bloody mess. Multiple bodies were scattered over the floor and the walls were sprayed red.

Salvador was running, hands bloodstained and empty. His two kids pursued closely behind him, expressions of pure dread overtook their faces.
