Chapter 17: Chapter 16: A fair fight

"Huh? Who the f*ck are you?"

Kanae's beautiful eyes had a dark look in them as she spun on her heels.

Standing behind the trio were a group of people who seemed to have just emerged from the east side of the forest.

They all looked beat up and exhausted, sweating profusely. Each one had a sword or some or the other weapon strapped on their waist and shoulder.

The one who had stopped Kanae was a dark haired man with slant eyes, a sneer on his dirt-covered face.

"You don't recognise me? Are you from the slums? Or maybe you just crawled out of your hole. If you're lacking money I wouldn't mind setting you up… Those looks shouldn't go to waste~"

A creepy smile spread on his face and his group members started snickering.

"You—"

Ed was furious and Miao held him back, a worried look on her face.

Kanae replied, after calming down, "Oh, so you're here to hog our resources. I get it. With your capabilities, you probably won't even get a single Dungeon Boss, so you wanted to sell herbs. Makes sense."

"What did you say?! Are you f*cking dumb or what? You sl*ts just know how to run your mouth and can't even hold a sword, do you want Daddy to teach you? Hahahahaha!"

"Is that so? Why don't we have a fight then? Fair fight, no cheating. You're allowed to use your mana and sword. How about it?"

Kanae gave a cold smile, making shivers run down the man's back.

"S-Sure then. If I win, I get the herb and you have to join our party. If I lose, you get the herb and all the money we have on hand."

"Boss! How could you-"

"Shut up. I make the rules."

Ed and Miao looked at Kanae, concerned. She had just fought with the Dungeon Boss. She hadn't recovered yet. They didn't want her to overexert herself.

"I'll be fine." Kanae spoke in a low voice.

Everyone's eyes were on Kanae, who looked carefree.

'Ha, dirty b*tch.' Slant-eyes though on seeing Kanae's confident appearance. She looked so dainty that a slap from him might just break her.

As if she could hear what he was thinking, Kanae turned her head back and looked at him with intense eyes. Heimmediately looked away.

Kanae stares at him for a while, before turning again. Ed would be the referee for them.

"I'll explain the rules. No unfair plays should be used. You can only use fighting skills. Is it clear?" Ed said with a straight face.

"Yi Lu, I look forward to the feast!"

The group members were cheering for their leader.

Kanae was satisfied with having Ed as a referee. At least he wouldn't cheat. Meanwhile, Yi Lu's brother had already removed his weapon.

"There's no need to use weapons to fight her." He chuckled.

Ed ignored him and nodded at Kanae. She tightened the loose strands of her beautiful hair.

Both people took opposite ends of the court. Yi Lu steadied himself and squatted a bit, his arm in front of him.

Kanae, on the other hand, looked relaxed.

She focused and shut out all the catcalls and boos from the audience. Years of training had increased her resistance to getting affected over small matters like this.

"The duel between Kanae and Yi Lu now begins." shouts the referee.

In a swift move, Yi Lu came face to face with Kanae. His hand closed in a fist and rushed to hit Kanae's pretty face.

To his shock, he was stopped in one swift move by Kanae. She applied pressure on his wrist and immediately, a sharp pain shot through his entire arm. The wrist was an easy target. On squeezing a point where the thumb and wrist met, the blood flowing into the body would stop. And soon enough, his hand started to turn purple.

Yi Lu jabbed Kanae with his other hand, making her drop his hand. He backed away quickly, hissing in pain.

Everyone in the group was silent. This was the first time they had seen Yi Lu back away in a fight. They were in disbelief that a delicate girl like Kanae was able to make him do it.

Kanae remained calm. A slightly annoyed look came up on Yi Lu's face and he once again appeared in front of her, in an unimaginable speed.

Kanae was unable to keep her eyes on the man because of his speed.

'Must be using some technique. Hmph, if I was in my previous body, I would have finished him off by now.'

Her eyesight may have deteriorated but her instincts were as good as before. She once again caught Yi Lu's leg that came towards her from her back.

Some people gasped in shock.

In retaliation, Yi Lu kicked her face, but she protected it with her other hand. Yi Lu managed to escape again.

Yi Lu was feeling frustrated. 'How is it that I'm not even able to hit her once?!' Angrily, he stomped over and tried to punch her stomach.

Kanae's hands immediately stopped those hands and she twisted them, making Yi Lu cry out in pain. His back twisted and faced her. Just as his legs were trying to kick her, she slammed her leg against his shin, making him gasp.

The shins were another point where one could easily injure a human. Kanae knew these points but didn't use them as she enjoyed using brute strength. She would only use the points in an emergency.

Currently, she did not possess any monstrous strength like before, so she had to rely on her knowledge.

Without giving him the chance to move any further, she kicked him in the knees, making him collapse to the floor. Yi Lu now lay on the floor, groaning in pain. Kanae stood with one foot on his back and the other on ground.

The crowd was stunned and everyone let out whispers and protests that Kanae must have cheated. How could they easily believe that their party's best fighter was defeated by the hands of a girl?!
