Chapter 10: CHAPTER 10: NAGGING MOTHER CHICKEN

<p>With those few remarks, he stood beside Zhao Xia and allowed her to continue with her speech.<br/><br/><br/>"That will be all, ladies and gentlemen. To new beginnings of the Luvitus group of hotels." Zhao Xia lifted her champagne, drank from it and everyone followed suit.<br/><br/><br/>After the toast, the couple made their way down the dais amid thunderous applause from the audience. Many business men and women approached the couple in hopes of getting some business deals here and there. Once they were gone, Zhao Xia looked around the hall as if looking for someone.<br/><br/><br/>"What's wrong?" Zhao Haoran whispered to her.<br/><br/><br/>"Have you seen Yang Liu?" <br/><br/><br/>"Maybe she is taking a short break from walking around so much "<br/><br/><br/>"Oh...okay."<br/><br/><br/>"Are you tired?"<br/><br/><br/>"A bit... I want to sit down. Walking around in these heels will probably give me blisters soon."<br/><br/><br/>"Okay." Zhao Haoran said as he guided her to a couch in a secluded area. He helped her to take a seat before settling beside her whilst holding her hand.<br/><br/><br/>"Your hands are cold."<br/><br/><br/>"Oh...don't worry. They are usually cold."<br/><br/><br/>"But what if you actually catch a cold. I wouldn't want that."<br/><br/><br/>"You are becoming more and more of a nagging mother chicken with each passing day."<br/><br/><br/>"If am not one, then I won't be at peace. I'm willing to become a mother chicken for you, sweetheart."<br/><br/><br/>Zhao Xia chuckled and was about to say something when two figures approached them.<br/><br/><br/>'Geez...can't they just leave me alone?' Zhao Xia thought as she took a sip from another glass of champagne.<br/><br/><br/>"Congratulations, Long Xia. I never thought you would build a dynasty for yourself in such a short period of time." Su Lin said as she moved closer to her boyfriend, Qin Bo.<br/><br/><br/>"It's Zhao Xia. And why? Are you jealous?" Zhao Xia replied stunning the couple to silence.<br/><br/><br/>"That's not what I meant , I just wanted to congratulate you for your success. I didn't think you would build your own dynasty before me."<br/><br/><br/><br/>"Who told you it was a competition? Seriously, everything I do, you tend to turn it to a competition somehow. Girl, I'm not a willing participant in this one-sided competition of yours . Since high school, you competed with me for everything I did. Now grow up and go build yourself that dynasty you want. Stop pestering me. I' m too busy to give in to your nonsensical delusions."<br/><br/><br/><br/>Su Lin's expression worsened as she looked at Zhao Xia. "So, you think you are better than me because you own a group of hotels?"<br/><br/><br/>"I think we both know the answer to that, Miss Su." Zhao Xia said, a smirk plastered on her beautiful face.<br/><br/><br/>Qin Bo stared at her face, awestruck by the beauty he never noticed before, when they were together. Everything about her seemed to have changed. Be it her body, her aura, her beauty, her everything.<br/><br/><br/>"You have changed." Qin Bo blurted as he looked at Long Xia.<br/><br/><br/>"Really? Did it take you that figure it out? Now, leave, you are disturbing my peaceful time with my husband." Long Xia as she buried herself in her husband's arms relishing in his warmth.<br/><br/><br/>"You can't just ign...."<br/><br/><br/>"Didn't you hear what she said, leave." Zhao Haoran interrupted as he looked at the ridiculous couple in front of him. Seriously, couldn't they see his wife needed some peace. If he wanted to crush these little pests in front of him, he could, by having his guards throw them out of the banquet, but his wife didn't seem to want that and he couldn't ruin her night.<br/><br/><br/>Su Lin wanted to argue but Qin Bo tightened his grip on her wrist and bowed his head. "Am sorry, President Zhao, we will leave right away."<br/><br/>Qin Bo dragged his reluctant girlfriend away from the couple. Once the two were gone, Zhao Haoran looked down to see his wife in a daze. He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before asking.<br/><br/>"Your ex?"<br/><br/><br/>"Yeah. Actually both of them are my exes."<br/><br/><br/>"Y...you dated both of them?"He asked stunned.<br/><br/><br/>"Geez, Haoran. No. Qin Bo was my ex-boyfriend and Su Lin, my ex-bestfriend ."<br/><br/><br/>"Oh. So what happened? But if you don't want to talk about it , it's okay."<br/><br/><br/>"It's fine sharing this with you. When I was in campus...<br/><br/><br/>Three years ago:<br/>Long Xia left the airport eager to meet her boyfriend of one and a half years, as a surprise for his birthday. She had been to Japan to run some few errands and decided to go back to China to celebrate her boyfriend's birthday with him.<br/><br/>She hailed a cab at the airport and gave the driver the address. Once they reached, Long Xia gave the cab driver the fare and alighted the car with her suitcase. She looked up at the apartment and headed towards room number 567.His place looked neat as always and had that scent of his that she always liked.<br/><br/><br/>She removed her shoes and changed to indoor slippers and headed towards the kitchen.<br/><br/><br/>"Aah...yes....right there."<br/><br/><br/>Long Xia was stunned before looking towards the bedroom door which was slightly ajar. She peeked inside to see two familiar bodies tangled together in the bed having s*x. She stepped back shocked and picked up her suitcase and shoes, before heading out.<br/><br/><br/>Nothing. That's how she felt, nothing. Screw that, she felt pain in her chest but braced herself, not allowing tears of sadness and pain to flow down her cheeks.<br/><br/>Once she reached the roadside, she hailed a cab and gave the driver the address to her bestfriend's , Yang Liu, house.<br/><br/><br/>Before she entered her best friend's house, she stood outside, looked up at the dark sky before screaming. "SCREW YOU, QIN BO AND SU LIN, YOU CHEATING MORONS!"<br/><br/>...<br/>"And that's what happened." Long Xia finished her story.<br/><br/><br/>"You handled the heartbreak better than expected. "<br/><br/><br/>"Oh...it's just that I didn't want to create breaking news the next day. If I could, I could have killed that bastard and buried his body in the forest."<br/><br/><br/>Zhao Haoran chuckled. "I didn't know I had a feisty woman as my wife."<br/><br/><br/>"But you love this feisty woman."<br/><br/><br/>"Yes , yes I do." He smiled before placing a kiss on her forehead.<br/><br/>"Shall we go home?"He asked. <br/><br/>"Wait...let me call Yang Liu first. <br/><br/>After two rings, Yang Liu picked up the phone. "Hey, where are you?"<br/><br/><br/>"Oh, I left early. I wasn't feeling too well."<br/><br/><br/>Okay...rest well. I will call you tomorrow." Long Xia hang up.<br/><br/>"You seem to care so much about my cousin."<br/><br/><br/>"Yeah, she was there when everything went downhill for some time in my life. Also, she is my bestfriend."<br/><br/><br/>"Really?"<br/><br/>"Yeah."<br/><br/>Okay, let's go home."<br/><br/><br/><br/>Zhao Xia left the premises with her husband, leaving the guests under her hotel manager's care.</p>
